Im looking at a few N54's this week, I'm defiantly buying this kit. Trying to find a low KM dct otherwise ill get auto and do the 8hp70 swap.

You know this is my personal car? This one blew because……… I don’t know why actually. But this is a stock motor that went in back in 2020 which is when I ordered this single kit to be honest.

Hey man you should maybe wrap the windshield washer tube that is touching the turbo downpipes with that gold wrap for heat I bet that will help

In terms of MSRP, an e9x 335i is about the same as a Supra. (assuming you’re referring to MK4) With today’s market however, you’re definitely better off buying an N54-equipped BMW for literally 1/10th the cost 😅

I’m in need of index 12 and a HPFP. But of course all for giggles and chuckles. Any car gets expensive but joking about 335i being a Supra will eventually get overrated… as soon as the fast and the furious stops being one of the best racing movies of all time. Next to wangan midnights, born to race or need for speed.

@@unluckeeeee basically, I’ve owned my 335i since 2013. I have had many issues, I fixed them then something new pops off. If you’re not spending almost $500 on something simple for this car, you’re not fixing anything. And if you need something major HPFP almost $800, injectors almost $2700. Those parts for an average joe is expensive. The only reason I started saving money was because I was getting juked by a local mechanic which led to me fixing it on my own. It’s been hectic with this car but because of that I was able to start gaining my families trust to work on their cars, even some of my brothers or sisters friends started letting me work on their cars.

Must have a single mass / M4 flywheel. That's what makes the engine pick up faster. The stock N54 flywheel has immense rotational mass. Mine also picks up this way after the M4 flywheel swap.
@@mike_oe That's right, previous video's this car had a DCT swop with a Mfactory solid flywheel.
@@mike_oe exhaust backpressure from shitty manifold causes laggy revs. this car is automatic it doesnt have the heavy flywheel it has a the stamped flex plate that weights almost nothing.

Where did you get that charge pipe that goes from the turbo outlet to the intercooler? I had to clock my compressor housing like that on my build and can't find a charge pipe like that.
Its a custom one that comes with the n54 development kits
Does Adam or anybody make a LHD equal-length manifold? Surely this would work on a LHD car but if there's so much headache avoiding a steering shaft I don't have it makes me wary

Hey mate. I have a question regarding your X5 (4.6is) I have done a full recondition on my box and have it married up to the engine with three bolts in at the bottom. I can’t find a diagram anywhere (even on the tis site) for what bolts go where. There are quite a few different sizes and lengths there. Can you advise as I am very keen to get it back in the car at this point. Kind regards.
I honestly can’t remember, it was so long ago. However I would just thread them on by hand till you find the right holes. It won’t be hard to work out when they all have the same thread engagement

I have an e92 2.5i and honestly can’t believe that the serpentine belt snapped and shredded all the wires and melted both sides of the plugs for the water pump. 😳
@@marchdeane4896 I havent done much on the 4.6. Its got some oil leaks but the old thing has just been faultless, just get in go everyday. Real workhorse, i have done about 25,000ks since the trans job. I have done a N54 full rebuild, if thats what you were referencing?
@@ZeroTo60Tube Did you do the rear main seal when you were in there? I had issues with rocker cover leaks and I’m assuming some leaking from the rear main too so I just did that as a preventative thing. There is also a coolant plate on the rear that I changed out the gasket on. What fluid did you use and where did you source the ZF parts? I have heard that the aftermarket filter causes problems along with aftermarket fluids. I saw the 20l fluid for nearly $600 😳 can you remember how many litres it takes?
I am yet to see your rebuild on the n54.
I rebuilt a n42 for my 2004 e46 318is m.sport. Just sold that recently so I have only the e66, e53 and the e92 left.

I hope so, theres no vibration in the car from anything rubbing, so hopefully it will quieten right down when the exhaust is connected

You’ll need a turbo. But they are cheap really

If I recall this turbo is ball bearing which is going to be fast inertia for spool so fingers crossed this will be an awesome match with the fast revs, the only concern I’d have is those bmw conrods! 😭
Also be a good time to do the crank hub mod 😬 you are running a dct on this car
@@InstaltechCarAudio Just too expensive for me to justify at this level. However when i build a motor for this car i will do one. Since we have a motor with a damaged crank, i am trying to get a billet crank made with a key for the crank hub built in. That way it will be a 1 piece crank hub keyed in to a billet crank as a package. I was surprised to learn that the crank hub in particular the crank hub gears need to be made of a stronger material than a crank. Anyway, its been in the works for a few months we will get there eventually.
