- I’ve been a little obsessed with the effects you can create with a gelli plate. Watch me try it on some small wood panels that are part of a series I’m currently working on.

I adore your colour palettes and textures, and like what you're doing with your gelli plate. For me, gelli printing was the gateway that led to abstract painting and other printmaking techniques. Previous to the gelli plate I was a fiber artist (40+ yrs) but my loom now sits forlornly as I play with my gelli plates and paints. I enjoy the happy accidents that happen with printmaking.
That’s so interesting! There is so much you can do with the Gelli plate. Have you thought about getting back to your loom?
I appreciate how organized you are, yet still so creative. I learn something new every video. Thank you. 🌿
Thanks, Thalia! A lot of the time, but sometimes things also turn into chaos 😄
Bravo and thank you 🎉🎉🎉
@@mariastogiannou8503 Thank you, Maria!
I like how your creative mind works, Jeannine! “What would happen if I….” Very interesting!
Thanks, Kana! It’s the most useful question to ask when painting 😄
Argh. So lovely. I am yet to get colors mixed like your palette....
Thanks, Shirley. Practice, practice, practice!
Loved this! You explain what you’re doing so clearly. I really liked the effects, particularly as you got lighter! I’m definitely going to have a go at this, thank you.
Thank you! Do have a go, I had so much fun 😊
Fascinating! I really liked the way you sometimes smoothed some of the printed paint afterward with a wedge. Very nice contrast in textures.
Thanks, Carolyn. That was my favourite bit too!
I LOVE THE gelli plate too!! I bought one a few months ago. In fact Im gon play tonight:) Thank You for reminding me not to be precious about things...it helps me remember that with risk comes reward!:) p.s. has anyone ever told you what wonderful ASMR your voice is?❤
Agree! I enjoy the information of the things you present, but as a bonus you have a very soothing voice. 😊 Thank you for sharing your artistic journey through these videos.
Indeed! It always pays off taking the risk. Have fun playing with your Gelli plate!
I have a few different gel plates and I have never used them in this way. Very inspired to try this and to check out your other gel print videos. Thanks Jeannine! I am also very interested in exploring chine colle with my gel plate and using it over transparent painted papers (tissue, deli, etc.)
Had to look up chine colle. Looks very interesting!
Thank uou. I also love working with a Gelli plate..it is addictive. I so enjoy your" what if" and "maybe " approach and am looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Right? So addictive! “I just want to try one more thing”, and then 20 sheets later I’m still going 😄
Hello Jeannine. Nice video as usual. You inspired me some new ideas. In fact, I’ve done some experiments last month on wooden panel and canvas. It wasn’t that successful because of the size of my plate. It gave me a lot of sharp edges. But I have bigger plate now and I’m excited to redo the experience again. Thank you for sharing your creative ideas. ❤
Oh fantastic! Let me know how it went with the bigger plate. I’ve been contemplating getting a bigger one myself.
❤ the beautiful work you have created and with excellent presentation....so glad I found your channel.....I have liked and subscribed to show support for your channel....hugs from Scotland 🤗
Thanks, I'm so glad you found me! Thanks so much for subscribing and welcome here! Greetings to beautiful Scotland 😊
Another fascinating use of gel plate Jeannine. Would you frame your wood panels? Just curious about how they would be hung. Thank you.
Thank you, Dede! Yes, I would frame them like I did in this video (in the ‘framing’ section): m.th-cam.com/video/Sail39oTPmw/w-d-xo.html
Great video! Im going to try this today ❤
Thanks, Kascia! Did you try it?
You smashed it, these look so good ☺☺☺
Thank you Chantelle 😋
Enjoyed this a lot. Also like your music. Can you tell me what it is?
Thank you, Susan! Have a look at the description. I’ve listed the tracks at the bottom.
Thanks for sharing, can you tell me please what kind of silicon brush you use? The big one?
Hello! Do you mean this one? tidd.ly/3ys8I4t
@@jclosestudio no sorry, I meant the spatula one 🤭
Jeannibne, what type of material(s) are your substrate/panels made of? They look almost like the linoleum we use in cutting block prints but I realize they must be some type of board or MDF?
Hi Deanna! Correct, they are a moister resistant MDF. I bought these back in 2020 when timber supply wasn’t great. I suggest you use Plywood. Most of the time I actually use these Jackson’s painting panels that they make in different sizes: www.jacksonsart.com/jackson-s-5mm-wooden-painting-panels-pack-of-5?___store=jacksonsart_en&acc=2d00f43f07911355d4151f13925ff292
Thank you so very much for all of the information!!
