At the time, The Move was down to a 3-piece band (Roy, Jeff & Bev Bevan). ELO was Roy's idea, and at the time he said that the aim was to continue where I Am The Walrus had left off - more orchestral stuff, etc. If you listen to the last Move album and the first ELO album, you'll hear this transition. The problem was 2 egos, each wanting to go in a different direction, so Roy left and formed Wizzard, Jeff & Bev (and others) carried on as ELO. ELO of course was (and still is) massively successful, and had Roy stayed I suspect that it would have been less commercially successful but more musically interesting and experimental. Roy remains one of the great unsung heroes of British music, and hasn't really had the recognition he deserves.

I'm impressed that Roy isn't worried about being on record (no pun intended) in that he agreed to be interviewed by Nigel as the majority of woke 'stars' from the entertainment world would be worried about the fallout from the media and all the luvvies on the left. Well done, Roy. Very underated and extremely talented.

Love Roy Wood! What an amazing ; singer/ songwriter/ musician he has been over the years! I am very ashamed to recall that he came to play in my hometown of Oldham many years ago, and some piece of S???, broke into the tour bus and stole one of Roy's prize guitars, possible his first guitar that his parents bought him! I will never forget that (ROY I APOLOGISE on behalf of the decent folk of Oldham) He doesn't look any different God Bless him! dx

Speaking as an Irish person, I’ve often remarked about the sheer amount of great music that’s come out of the UK (including some classic stuff from Roy Wood) - and it’s undeniable that, perhaps, the “golden period” was all the music “pre-accession” to the then EEC - let’s look forward to some great songs in the Brexit era - and - to our “French friends” (where’s their “Beatles”, “Rolling Stones”, “David Bowie” etc ?) - all I can say is: “Quel Dommage” !

    VOTE REFORM
Nigel become a force that they can not dismiss, slur and cancel. Our nation is headed for significant political change and you must concentrate on the future of our children, our culture, honesty in politics, immigration and migrant crisis, nationalisation for jobs, mothers daughters and sons, appeal to those that matter, give them hope without fear, give them integrity without distrust, give them freedom to thrive, give them prospects so they may shine, give them a nation to be proud of and they the people,,, will give you our NATION.
    VOTE REFORM

This was the Best thing on GB news i have seen , and with most of my heroes popping off , It's Great to see Roy in good shape , it all makes sense now why his classic Christmas song dont get the Airplay it deserves , in this new world order . shame how politics wormed its way into music . the poor little shits of the future wont even realize what they never had .

I've always loved Roy Wood. He was an inspiration to me and the first album I ever bought was "Boulders". From that time on I wanted to learn to play every instrument I could get my hands on.
I think Roy Wood (and the Beatles) are the reason that I ended up making a living as a professional musician for the last forty-odd years.
