    I like the soundtrack in the outro - there's something fitting about testing my system while looking at SoundTools.

      Just how low was that sweep going? I'm listening with the same cans Dave has, and the sweep seemed to bottom out around 5:55.

    Man I love these videos so much! It really is hard to find a good fuzz/distortion for vocals, and that reverb unit sounded great overdriven. My favorite effect for that is the original SansAmp pedal (or the reissue of it which sounds the same), especially if you blend some of the dry signal back in for more intelligibility like you did here

    Ever tried a tape delay like the SRE555? Tape saturation... I used to do a similar thing as your PCM60 trick back in the day. The PCM60 is also my all time fav reverb. When we first got it in our hire stock in 86 or so, like wow!!

    Hello Dave
    I just found out Andy Wallace uses this trick to give grit to guitars although he uses PCM42
    Do you per chance know if the PCM60 effect is similar to PCM42s
    PCM0 goes for $600 and PCM42 up to $2000 nowadays.
    Thank you

    It doesn’t clip the converter? It’s a full analog path with the mix at 0%?

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe so. I also believe, the analog clips before the converters, so it tough to get the dig side to overload in mix or effect

    Hi Dave What’s your thoughts on the pcm 70

    • @DaveRat

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Espresso101 the DBX 120x has a pure clear sub synth with 4 seperate distinct frequency controls making it very effective for dialing in a specific sub synth sound. Not aware of another unit that offers that control and hits those very low frequencies. Beer dbx units did not maintain this control, nor did other units I briefly used over the years

      SoundGuy - I have a Furman Punch-10 and a DBX-120XP, you have to live with them for a while to really understand their different character. I prefer the greater control the DBX has but I never got rid of the Furman as it’s a great unit. I also use an SPL Classic Vitalizer 9215 which is balanced and also great for sub enhancement with a different approach. Really looking forward to Dave’s DBX hack.

    Who is the loser who chose "thumbs down.?" (Hopefully it was just a mistake.....)

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I am pretty sure I have a few people that follow purely to thumbs down. There were a few point source humans that can't get their head around the fact that line arrays are also a useful tool.
      I kind of like it though as it makes me smile to see people that are kind of an asshole getting themselves riled up in such a meaningless way

    • @topekadiyver2
      @topekadiyver2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DaveRat In terms of youtube's rating and algorithms as far as where they present your videos in searches (Top of the list, bottom, never to be seen ever, etc) a "thumbs down" is almost as good as a "thumbs up", because some part of youtubes (And a lot of similar user-submitted content sites) algorithms consider ANY "review" to be a sign that the video was important or meaningful enough to elicit a response. (No such thing as bad publicity! For real!) They count the fact that someone bothered to give it a thumbs down as a metric that its "Meaningful".
      "Thumbs Up" are definitely better, but "Thumbs down" still means that someone cares!
