This was my first ratchet game and it was awesome although I haven't played the rest of the series, this game was my childhood when I would play a lot on my ps2
David Bergeaud will always be one of the most under-recognized and under-appreciated composers in all of human history. This isn't just some of the best video game music of all time, it's some of the best music humanity has and will ever produce and could ever possibly experience.
I mean, sure it's good. But there is nothing special about this song that makes it special in any way, really. Humanity's greatest music is far greater than this.
This song works really well for the Tower of Power stage, but it works even better in the boss fights. One of the most hype boss battle songs in all of gaming.
Reactor was probably the least hyped out of all the Exterminators, which is a shame because he had one of the best intro cutscenes in the game (the one which explained his origin). He even appeared in the advertisement for the Exterminator cards, and he didn't even get a death scene (granted, nor did the Eviscerator) or have a cutscene appear after Ratchet became a Crusader. Rest in peace you gloriously-sounding bot...
I also like how the only interaction he has with Ratchet is right before the boss fight with him. Like at least Shellshock retreated a few times so we got to see him more than once.
We didn't even get to see his death animation either. Shellshock collapsed (though another cutscene shows him in pieces for some reason), The Eviscerator does that particle thing like most biological enemies when they die, Ace goes on his hands and knees and warns Ratchet with his dying breath, and Vox lies next to his busted mech. Reactor looks like he just screams before getting abruptly cut off by the victory screen.
can we talk about the message this game is about how people can become poster boy representatives for big corporations to use as media puppets to spread their capitalist messages instead of being used to spread a useful message or have any artistic integrity....in unrelated news, there went on to be another 12 ratchet and clank games
Agreed that it’s ironic. However the games are pretty good so I don’t really care too much. Though yeah... no story is gonna ever hit like the PS2 games ever again. Though who knows. Maybe Rift Apart will be a neat surprise rather than the tech demo it’s turning out to be.
yeah, the Ratchet and Clank franchise really fell and became what it was originally criticizing, which is ironic and kinda poetic. Hopefully they will fix that with the next game "Rift apart"
I also remember the Maroon and Olive team from the online mode. These teams were only available in the online multiplayer PS2 version of the game. The online support for this game was dropped in June of 2012.
