This is a step-by-step Modeling tutorial of a Tree and Stones in Maya. This video is a part of making a 3D scene using Maya- ZBrush- Substance Painter. In this series I am showing the entire pipeline in detail Modeling-Unwrapping-Texturing-Rendering. hi sir, I've been following your tutorial. One question I had was, is it okay to take the UV of the rock before giving its shape?

You can do that but you shouldn't extrude it after that. Can change the shape of it and unfold the UVs.

When I chose 4 faces to circularize, the flat doesn't go along with surround object but distorted in strange direction. I have to rotate to adjust the side of the flat. How can I circuralize to match the right side like you without further adjustment?

TLDR; to make the tree branches, use edge loop to get enough faces to work with where you want to extrude the branch, select 4 faces, Edit>Mesh>Circularize, then extrude those 4 faces on a curve. Set tapering on the extrude to taper it. Same with the roots. In one case, he extrudes the 4 faces and scales them down without actually extruding them just to get enough clean geometry before the extrude on curve.
