And if you're really skilled you'd put the tubes on the seat pans (backrest, armrest, and seat) on a metal plate embedded into the bottom of the foam (or into the metal plate) that way you will never feel the tubes even though the seat would take longer to initially cool the cooling would be more evenly distributed although you'd have to then use some thermal insulating mat on the bottom/backs of the seat pans

@@Jay-st6sl You wouldnt call a heatpipe "water cooling" either. All "cooling" we do is moving heat from one place to another, aslong as the medium we use to transfer the heat is water you *could* call it water cooling, but the big heat transfer effect in sweating is the large amount of energy absorbed by water as it shifts from liquid to gas state which then also allows the heat to actually be transferred away from your body.
But pc watercooling doesnt evaporated the water and it doesnt use convection to carry the heat energy away, it uses a pump. Id be much more willing to call taking a cold shower watercooling then sweating 😂

Sweating is a passive process using evaporation. While that is a good method of cooling down in a non-humid environment, it doesn't work when there is humidity. Which is why people can and do get heat strokes. The water cooling in the chair is a proper heat exchange, which works as long as there is electricity (and water for the actual heat exchange). Humid or not.

I would be shocked if the 8000 BTU window AC I have in my office averages more than 150w during the day. Plus it cools my entire body and electronics, not just my butt and back.
Granted it is a brand new AC, and I specifically bought it because it was the most efficient model on the market. But unless you have an enormous computer room and are the only person who uses it, I can't see this being remotely more efficient than simply buying a decent window unit.

A mesh back chair might make a huge difference, but very few chairs with a mesh seat are comfortable.
You want a ventilated *car* seat. You don't get the benefit of AC that you would get if it was still in the car (and designed with an AC vent bellow the seat).
What you do get is airflow. And if you've ever had to stand next to your setup after sitting for hours, waving your pelvis around to stop you buttocks from melting, you know why.
Sweating is very useful, but if the skin covered in sweat isn't getting any airflow then it just feels like getting cooked alive sous vide style.

This is similar to a strap-on cooler that I made which is basically a CPU cooler with a 55W Peltier and an aluminium heatspreader, that you can attach to your arm with a strap. Or not to your arm. It works way better if you put it on your chest Iron Man style. It makes use of the fact that a human is already water cooled- there is literally blood circulating through a whole human, so if you cool an area that has a lot of blood flow, you can cool the whole human cheaply in terms of energy. With that 8 18650 batteries give you portable, sub-ambient cooling for 3 hours at maximum cooling or 2-3 times longer at less, and it does cool pretty well - 30 degrees feels like 25 if you don't move too much. But I do not know how (un)healthy it is, and it hurts a bit where it cools, because the heat spreader could be bigger, but you get used to it after 20 minutes or so. And it gets in the way by physically being there sometimes. You can also strap that cooler onto a can of beer or a drink bottle and cool itthat way, though not very efficiently.
Putting the heatsink with the Peltiers below the seat is not optimal, as the hot air will warm up the chair and the user's legs again. I'd put it on the back of the chair, and this way you can have a bigger heatsink area.
