Came here from WAN show. This is great content. We all knew the tea was gonna be bad we just didn't know how, when or where. So this evergreen of a tea pot PC was exciting to hear pop back up in the news. Yeah I don't know why they didn't swap it for a real cooling fluid after they tested it but then again that was partially assumed to happen later. Hopefully you don't get any more http 418 "I'm a teapot" errors with big Dave, how British! I love the tee box inside, this made for a great unintentional collaboration and I'm glad it mostly made it across the pond. Speaking of which it's time for tea.
@@z33thr33 I think it's implied that the riser broke in shipping, so on LTT's end the PC was totally fine but it got knocked in shipping and the impact caused the riser to break. I can't imagine LTT would have knowingly shipped out a broken PC to anybody.

I think the intention was that they wanted the meme of Spiff getting to initially turn on and use the PC that was cooled with tea, and then he (or someone over there like Overclockers UK did in this video) would swap out the tea for regular cooling fluid. But because of the broken riser cable, it ended up not being used, and (presumably) because Spiff was busy, things kind of just got left waiting instead of immediately trying to get it dealt with, so we ended up having things happen the way they did here. More than likely it would have been fine enough for him to run it if the PC had still worked when he got it in the first place (assuming said fluid swap was then done afterwards), but after sitting for so long, there was no way it wasn't going to get moldy. But in the end, he also ended up with a better CPU block and pump, and the Yorkshire Tea box, so it all worked out for the best lol
There's something quite funny about Overclockers UK showing every part of the PC but the hidden note saying British landlords and the royal family are responsible for the potato famine, lol.
The Irish are still pissed about that one, so we dont like to bring it up. Also as a UK company, that is pushing it into really sketchy grounds with the lunatic brigades who cant understand that sometimes countries do bad things even if they are the supposed good guys.

I haven't seen your stuff before but I love LOVE that you were able to fix and update LTT's work for Spiff. The piping looks so great with the etched fittings and it's so clean that the teapot and teabox don't clutter at all
@@ffwast I was under the impression that they really wanted him to get the PC with the tea in it (obviously hoping it to be in working order though) so that he could have - presumably- made a video about running his PC using Yorkshire Tea, or something along those lines, and then either he - or someone like Overclockers UK - would have drained the loop and swapped it out for regular cooling fluid. But when the riser cable broke, things got screwed up and it ended up sitting unused for months before this video was made, unfortunately. I get that it's fun to dunk on LTT, but we have no knowledge of what the conversations or agreements were between them and Spiff were, what the plans or intentions were, or anything other than the end results here.
Just for frame of reference: The computer would have come from near Vancouver, British Columbia, all the way on the west coast of Canada, in its bottom left corner. Makes your big distance even bigger! :) I was wondering why I hadn't heard anything from Spiff about the new PC LTT built for him. I assume he'd tried contacting Linus et al about it but logistics were difficult. Can't wait to see Big Dave in action!

Glad to see it restored to working condition. This PC is by far one of the coolest out there. The tea gimmick was cool but I always assumed it would cause complications. Also I've always loved that case. Not only is it one of corsair's finest but the decals also bring so much character.
Watching spiff talk is actually so confusing for my brain because I am so used to his voice being disembodied xD lovely video and much fun with Big Dave
I know drop in the bucket impact, but tea box in front of the fans hurts my soul, what I wish Linus would have done originally (in hindsight now) is to have a custom vinyl sticker printed saying Yorkshire Tea and have their logo on top of the sidepanel glass, would hide the radiator/fan without impacting airflow. (again I know drop in the bucket impact, but OCD perfectionist)
It does, but it's not LTT's or OCUK's fault. I have pretty much the same waterblock (Alphacool, 1st series of their RTX4090 waterblocks, just this one looks like it's for reference design PCBs while I have an FE) and sadly you can't really align those screws because you risk over or under tightening them. At least mine sit with the logo on the top on the left screw and the logo on the bottom for the right one, and they're both pretty centered. Technically you could use other plugs but I only had ones with logos/text on hand, now to replace them I would have to drain my loop, so...
As someone who drinks loose leaf tea regularly, I'm not surprised there was buildup on the parts. I think Linus also expected problems, but it was kind of a meme build. Besides having micro-organisms, tea also has oil, which builds up on anything you drink tea out of and don't clean. I don't remember if the teapot reservoir was open on the tops, but if it isn't it probably should be to prevent dust from getting into the coolant and causing blockages.
The teapot is aesthetic only, so that shouldn't be a problem thankfully. That piece of soft tubing that had to be replaced runs completely through it, with the only actual reservoir being the one hidden behind the tea box down well below the pot.
And hopefully they didn't mix up the tea they made with the tea that came out of the PC. I would also imagine it was a lot since it probably took multiple days so that's at least once a day.....
I watched the video of them building the pc and wondered what would happen to it as it was shipped, never thought I'd see an update on it. I love the pc aha 😅 would love a pc like that.....tbh I'd love to just have a pc 😂
A hot take re: GPUs - now that they're so large and heavy, it feels like the old style of mounting them (i.e. supported by the PCI-E connector and the backplate) is just no longer sufficient. The industry really needs to come up with a new standard way for securing GPUs into the case. Ideally one that supports the whole length of the card/cooling system.
A couple shots with the side panel on and just the right light glare made me think his watermark was on there. Great and beautiful work! I can't believe the riser exploded like that.
Always wondered what happened to this PC, split cable so it never worked is sad, even if issues would've cropped up with the tea in some time, would've been fun having a video from spiff on his tea cooled PC. Glad he can finally get the computer though after all this time
Noone would've bat an eye if they used tea-coloured water instead, and yet the madmen went and did it. Intentionally setting up this PC for failure made for a very interesting video.

I cant help but point out the picture of HRH Queen Elizabeth II. while appropriate at the time, nobody could have predicted her passing. This PC has become a monument to her legacy unintentionally.

I love it when professionals fix West Coast Choppers builds. Nothing against LTT, but they have an entertainment schedule and things won't always go perfectly. They did a great job.
Why would you ship with the graphics card installed? Why wouldnt you flush system before shipping? Even the original bends look rushed lol. Well done getting it fixed!

"Browns really easy to mix" mixes red by mistake
Think the red comes from the red LEDs and tea though fairly brown but when you expose it to light it tends to be a bit on the red side.
Could also be a colour grading issue as it's not always possible to get things looking the same on camera as they do in person
Brown kind of doesn't exist as a color. It's a less saturated orange that only looks brown depending on the surroundings and background.

I watched the making of video as well. I would have bet dollars to donuts that the teapot wouldn't have survived shipping, not the GPU riser cable.

Them using inked fluid instead of the finest Yorkshire tea blend on it just left my heart utterly broken.
Somehow I had doubts about this when I saw it assembled. Sorry to find I was right. Glad you fix though !

Tannins are mildly acidic so goodness knows what kind of mischief they'd do to the innards of a cooling loop.

Cable management alone makes it look better. That said, as I don't build PCs that often, it took me half a day until I was happy with it.
