    Nice Vid Terry , I'm using same heater on my shed Q/grow pond . Be careful mate they can't be gravity fed has to be from the pump side or unit won't switch on if flow to weak. Also needs fitting like a upside-down goal (pipework) so water stays in there to protect the elements if water stops flowing through . I'll sent you over a pic of mine so your see 👍. On plus side its been pretty good little heater .

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mark, Thanks mate, I was going to put some 45 deg fittings to drop it until I realized I hadn’t got any lol. It is on the pump side, just after my sieve filter. It shouldn’t over heat as it has a cut off switch as soon as the flow stops. My problem is, if the flow does stop, the water from that pipe will drain out any way. Once the RDF drains, so does that pipe. I’ll have another think and see what I can do mate. Thanks again, Terry.

    Hi mate is there any way your skimmer could be made out of pp and welded together instead of useing pipe

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Danny, I don't think it would be very easy to do mate. Bending PP is not easy. Using pipe is the easy option and probably the cheapest. If you can find a piece from a building site like I did is the best option. Your only looking for an off cut, and I got mine for nothing. hope this helps, Terry.

    Im probably missing something but would it not be easier and cheaper to drop some titanium heaters with external controlers into the moving bed?

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest mate, I did check into this, and found there's not much difference. For 2500 gallon I would need 3 x 600w at a cost of around £60.00 each. So 3 would cost slightly more to purchase than the Cloverleaf, for slightly less power. Thanks mate, Terry.

    • @khiburgess4377
      @khiburgess4377 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair enuf if the only motivation is cost then yeah its thr right decision...mind you i would stick that cloverleaf heater on an external controller like an inkbird, adds redundancy significantly more control and you can place the heater on a range so the heater does not kick on as often or unecessary keeping the lecky bill down.

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate, that's not a bad idea, it does seem to kick in and out a lot. I'll look into it. Thanks for that mate, Terry.

    • @khiburgess4377
      @khiburgess4377 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah its the kicking on that causes a lot of energy it also burns out a heater faster....whats the range if its 0.3 degrees like most heaters thats going to cost a bomb if you use an inkbird set the day rate at 12 on the high 8 on the low then night time you could set it at 8 on the high 6 on the low. The sun will help in tge day insulate the pond screens at night i reckon you will see a much smaller rise in your bill and you can manage it from a smart phone....so if we have a really cold night you can adjust accordingly if its mild the heater wont kick on within the 5 degree range etc.
