My wife and I saw Ben Platt in Dear Evan Hansen last Sunday (Oct. 22, 2017). Words fail to describe the immensity of this guy's talent. He has shattered all previous standards of excellence in theater performance for me. His portrayal of the Evan Hansen character was so visceral and palpable, he made the audience laugh and cry throughout the entire show. His interpretation of Pasek and Paul's music was beyond perfection. Where does he get that voice from? He scaled the high notes with controlled intensity and explosiveness that still sounded beautifully melodic. His falsetto is like raspy butter. And his vibrato is divine. Like many theater insiders say, he is a unicorn in the midst of elite talents. I absolutely agree with them. Thank you, Ben Platt, for sharing your talents. Looking forward to your album!

DEH and its music so touch the heart and emotions they are impossible to ignore. DEH really dug into emotions I had buried deep within me since I was in high school, and there was a lot I had to process through when I heard the song track for the first time. I am grateful that I have gone through this, as DEH has helped me to deal with feelings and thoughts I had long buried and to see many things in a new way. The ability of DEH to enable me to perceive things from the view of another person (such as a divorced, single mom) is also profound and almost supernatural. I am glad for all of it.
Same here, Kevin. It brought me back a few decades to my lonely, withdrawn self at that age. When I listened to "For Forever" for the first time I nearly lost it. Ben's vocals are so raw with emotion, in everything he sings, actually. But you are so right, the show touches those of us who really were there, struggling during that time of our lives.
My jaw was dropped the WHOLE time. My heart is crying like crazy as it is slowly gets put back together. My eyes were closed. His voice is sweeter than honey, more gorgeous than a blue whale splashing in the beautiful, turquoise waters of the ocean, and more adorable than baby seals lined across the beaches of Scotland. He is the Lilly of the Valley. He is an Angel sent straight from above to fix broken hearts and find people joy! Thank You Ben
