Know you guys like a giveaway 😁 Happy Christmas guys!! Quick one, make sure to subscribe if you want to see who wins cos I’ll be announcing it on my TH-cam community tab!
P.s, this video was almost done and I hadn't been given Video Boost access until it was almost finished 🤪 So sorry the testing on this wasn't quite as thorough as I'd like it to be! Maybe i'll re-visit it in a full video.

I know Pixels have been far behind when it comes to competing with the quality of the iPhones video, but since Video boost has arrived, I feel Google is catching up, they just need to figure out a way to do it locally on the chip as opposed to on the servers and that would be the reason why I'm going with the red button ✅

Ofcourse Red Button , the Google Pixel 8 Pro delivered a good photo performance across all test attributes. Target exposure was generally accurate, despite some occasional slight underexposure of the subject. Color was accurate and pleasant, especially the skin tones. The camera also did a good job at freezing motion, thanks to a fast autofocus and zero shutter lag. The texture/noise trade-off was quite good, with good detail and well-controlled noise across all light conditions. In addition, images were almost free of unwanted image artifacts.

Considering all the customisations Android permits, I'd go with the red button 🖍️.
This would be the perfect gift to my little brother, he's been using a Mi A1, a stock Android phone since 2017 and as an elder brother I know he'll love it because he already has gcam mods installed on his phone so the jump to a real device with the OG camera, the smile on his face would be pleasent to be captured 💫

The way Google has impressively improved the "a" series ever since the 7a really piques my interest to their decisions on. The 8a. Till then, both phones are a bit too expensive for the performance they are having. Of course the photos are revolutionary in terms of what was needed to be done when you wanted to take a photo. But overall I still think they can improve the lot.

Been a fan of Pixels ever since Pixel 2 XL and it keeps getting better. Just need to catch up more with the SoC, but when they switch to TSMC it is going to change. Love both iPhones and Pixels, yet somehow I enjoy using Pixels more. With that said, Pixel 2XL and 4XL works perfectly fine to this day.

@@ItsTomRich More or less yes, Google been already working on real in-house configuration for quite awhile, and should be frabricated on TSMC node around Pixel 10 and Tensor G5. Yet upcoming Samsungs 3nm GAAFET seem very promising and rivaling TSMC.

Google Pixel has been always catching my attention since they released their first version, they have distinct and unique design, and obviously they have one of the best camera software and hardware synchronization from a smartphone. i contemplated a lot when i finally decided to get my first smartphone in 2019. I was so in doubt to choose between Samsung Galaxy S9+ or Google Pixel 2XL, and after some long research and consideration, i finally chose Pixel 2 XL (Panda version) and never regret it. As a person who loves photography, people around me were always amazed with how outstanding the pictures i took with Pixel. And believe it or not, i'm still using the phone, despite with some broken screen and degraded battery life. I know Pixel 2 XL is already an outdated device for this year but since i'm not in the place to afford anything right now so i don't have a choice, and i still love my phone hehe. If i have to choose between blue or red, i'll pick red since i wanna experience the upgrade from my previous device, especially from the camera side, which i know it'll be much better, especially in taking photos and video with natural tone. I admit in terms of videography, Iphone is my choice, but for overall aspects like the camera who keeps getting imprevements, insane AI implementation. unique design, and everything else i'll still pick Pixel. Just wish i could get a new job next year so i can get a new phone haha

I would love a comparison against older Pixels, like the Pixel 5 and Pixel 6 and Pixel 6A. The 6A was voted the best camera phone early last year in a blind-test.
I'm also interested in the Pixel 5, since I'm getting it next year, or maybe a Pixel 6.

📍Red Button for sure, have always been an admirer of the Pixel lineup for its simplistic approach to design and software, adding in the perks of also being one of the best camera phone in the market.
Coming to the video front, Tom, It's refreshing to visit the 8 pro because of the current feature drop and in a duration of 3 months gives clarity on its pros and cons. Definitely did not see the front camera to suck so much :/ but I feel Video Boost will be the MVP for most people at the expense of time though.

it really is impressive what Google has archieved in their camera and software department. I remember using the pixel 3 XL and just being blown away with what that phone could archieve with only one camera. compared to other phone manufactures at that time google was just ahead of its time. From what i heard the new Google Pixel 8 lineup is no differnet, focusing hardly on the software side rather then going all out on the hardware like most companies nowdays. I personally really like what Google has achieved, and would be happy to try the new pixel 8 pro 😍.

I would choose the Pixel 8 Pro because despite having worse video capture on default, it would allow me to play around with apps like mcpro240fps that allow log video capture to hopefully match it up to the apple in post. Since small changes in quality is mostly important for film making, it makes setting up more complex apps like mcpro24fps worth it for that scenario. The fact that the camera quality is good and the infinite backup to cloud would make it worth it.

Since Google has launched the first phone Nexus One I bought it and continued for the ease of use compared to Samsung phones I used to like the most. I hired a photographer for my Donair restaurant to take photos, amongst all the photos I added one item after which is still outstanding and that was taken by Pixel 3 XL. It is still appreciated by professional photographers. I am extremely happy to have a phone, watch and buds pro. These are added as my best friends that cannot stay away from them even a single day. Moreover, I'm so excited for software updates now and then. And it's not to forget about free updates until 2030.

The consistent improvement in Google's "a" series, starting from the 7a, captivates my curiosity about their choices for the 8a. However, until now, both phones seem somewhat pricey considering their performance. Undoubtedly, the cameras have brought revolutionary changes in simplifying photo-taking processes. Nevertheless, there's room for significant improvement overall in these devices.

I'm looking for something to partially replace my mirrorless camera setup when I travel. Tough choice vs the top of the range iPhone camera wise, but I've always been an android user so I think I'd rather stick to that! Thanks for the good review

Red button all the way. Ive always been in love with the pixel. The camera, the design, and most of all the software. It's just so silky smooth and pretty

Definitely looking at getting into the Google Pixel family. The more I see these reviews, the more I feel it'd be a good upgrade over my 5 year old Oneplus. I've gotten to wear I don't break out my Canon very often anymore, and having a phone that can provide photos good enough for moments would be nice.

I would pick the red button. The Pixel 8 Pro showcased a commendable image quality in all aspects of the evaluation. The intended exposure was predominantly precise, notwithstanding occasional minor under-lighting of the subject. The color representation was exact and appealing, particularly the hues of the skin. The device also excelled in capturing movement, owing to a swift autofocus and absence of shutter delay. The balance between texture and noise was quite impressive.

After taking MKBHD Blind Smartphone Camera Test I rated the Pixel 7A the most and was quite surprised with the result so I think it is worth the try! I have always been an Android user but for some reason last year I switched to the iPhone 14 Pro which I still think it's amazing for pictures and videos but can't help that I hate iOS and wanna go back to Android at this point so I was looking for the Android smartphone with the best camera! Thanks for this review!

Opting for the Pixel as Player 001. I would definetely prefer Pixel due to its camera quality in low light and its customization with video boost and raw shoots. The photos appearing as fine grained isn't that of a concern

Always wanted a pixel and the the 8 Pro so far has been a really attractive offer of hardware and software. The 7 years of promised software support is great for people who don't upgrade their phones every year or so. I'm definitely saving up for one in the coming months, until then, going red!

I have been using the pixel 4a for a few years now, I am very happy with the experience all the updates and feature drops come even for the affordable series of phones. Only recently I was sad to read through that my device will no longer get any updates. I will definetly go red button as it feels more natural to upgrade to a google device rather than getting into the learning curve of buying an iphone and learning things. Ps. Also the settings on iphones are like treasure hunting.

It's great to see that Google is finally catching up with their competitors in the video category. It's quite a long process to boost a video since it isn't done locally, tho. But as someone who mainly shoots photos, I think Pixel would be the better phone. So yeah, red button all the way!
