    How Frye Boots are designed and made -
    As the oldest continually-running footwear company in the United States, the Frye Company has seen their boots and shoes live through Americas most historical times. Early American settlers worked the land in Frye’s, the cavalry of the Civil War fought in Frye’s, and they were worn on the feet of four star generals of World War II. Nowadays General Patton isn’t the famed folk to wear a Frye. They’ve walks the streets on celebrity feet from New York to LA.
    The history of Frye ---On March 10, 1863, John A. Frye opened the doors of a small shop on Elm Street in Marlborough, Massachusetts. The shoes he made served a simple purpose: to provide honest, durable footwear for the residents of the small New England town.
    In time, Frye’s family would grow and The Frye Company would expand, becoming artisan manufacturers. Each generation of Frye craftsmen dedicated themselves to the art of shoemaking, creating new patterns, discovering new materials and even inventing shoe-making machinery. The dedication to crafting footwear as functional as it is durable has been the Frye company’s benchmark ever since.
    Frye’s history and heritage is told in every stitch of the shoes Frye has made for 150 years, across cultural shifts and changes in tastes, for generation upon generation. Now, Frye boots are worked and roughed up on country roads and city streets, and chosen above all others for their enduring style and uncompromising quality.
    Despite Frye’s reach and success as bookmakers, their mission has not changed since their days on Elm Street - to make the best-looking, hardest-working shoes with enduring style.
    Today Frye boots and shoes can be made in plants around the world, but the classic Harness is still made in the USA - in Addison, Arkansas.

      My Pop's had a pair back in the 1970's and I couldn't see anyone wearing those boots out, I don't know what ever happen to them because they had enough leather to make something out of them after the soles every ran out. He might have very well made something out of the leather after he wore the boots out.

      When I wore mine on a camping trip, some kids let their fire get out of control and started a grass fire. We spent more than an hour beating it down and because I was wearing my boots, I ended up stomping the bushes out that were impossible to put out with a fire beater. Their was no damage at all to the boots after a good coat of wax.

    Frye Men's 8R and 12R Harness Boots are the BEST. They're durable, their style is timeless, and are favored by those possessing swagger and confidence, with a healthy dose of "I-don't-give-a-fuck" attitude thrown in for good measure. No wonder, then, that not everyone could pull off wearing a pair.

    I've got a pair of 150th Anniversary Engineer 12R's that are proudly made in the USA. Another pair of my Frye's (Phillip boot), is made in Mexico but another pair of my Frye's is actually made in China! They all appear good quality construction though I guess, sadly most are not made in USA anymore.

    • @wilsjane
      @wilsjane 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When a company take their management and machinery out to China, they can produce exactly the same quality at a lower cost. It is companies who purchase goods on the Chinese open market that end up with all the rubbish. The irony is that as China expands its economic growth, workers expect higher living standards and wages are rising. The time will come when the savings will no longer cover the transport costs. It will be a good day for America and western Europe.

      Most of the boots are made in China. As Steven T stated "The Frye Boot company is now owned by a Chinese conglomerate." That doesn't surprise me. The owners probably became tired of boot making, and decided that a few hundred million was a good price for an exit strategy.

    Ive owned several pair of Frye boots. I have a pair of the Americana engineer boots , original 1970s campus/harness boots with double leather soles and stacked leather heels, and a pair of brown engineer boots. I can l see the difference in quality materials and workmanship is definitely better in the vintage 70s boots. Leather is thicker, triple stitching, leather seam reinforcement, real stacked leather heels like I mentioned before. I guess they have to buy thin overly thinned imported leather to make a “profit” I’ll pay for quality. People want quality over quantity period.

    Frye is an okay boot. If you want a better boot nothing beats, White's boots, Nick's Boots, Frank's Boots, Wesco boots, Drew's boots or Viberg out in Canada. Those companies mentioned above just have a higher notch of craftsmanship, all American made and hand lasted and hand welted. Better thicker leathers too.

    I just found out that they have being making some of the FRYE in Mexico !

    • @ULICKMYBUTCRACK

      What's wrong with Mexico? Some of the most expensive American brands like St. John outsource to Mexico simply because Mexicans offer some of the best labor for a lower price. Americans have lost the interest in blue collar jobs entirely, so Frye's gotta go somewhere else.

      Jose Lopez
      I dunno, blue-collar work is necessary for a healthy mind, and as more people figure that out...

      +Jose Lopez. Mexico can produce good quality products at a slightly lower price. Problems only arise when greedy companies provide the factory with lower quality materials, inferior machinery and do not bother to properly train the staff. Then when it all goes wrong, blame the Mexican workers. Exactly the same situation exists in China.

    I have some vintage campus boots that I love, but they’re a size small for me. Oh well. Finding a pair in a women’s 10 was hard enough. No way I could get vintage ones in an 11.

    It's sad that the workers making those boots probably cant even afford a pair lol they are pretty pricey

    • @eltoro747
      @eltoro747 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Give me a break, you can afford to pay a few 400$ for a phone that you replace every two years, but you can't afford to pay 400$ for a pair of boots that will last you a decade? If you can afford booze and cigarettes you can afford those boots too. Or you could save up - 40$ a month for a year and you're done.
