    Best Boogie I've personally seen. Such a fun and amazing moment in Phistory. I was worn out by the end and was close to begging them to stop to let us all rest. Kept hitting different peaks making you think it was over only to keep the funky dance party moving along. The whole show was a great one. Can't beat Phish in Worcester!

    It's rather annoying that Phish fans argue amongst themselves. In my humble opinion it's way to often & often over petty shit. Phish Was amazing band in the mid 90's and Phish Is a amazing band in 2017. They have matured as musicians and men. Along with having played so much music together over the years and to be honest I enjoy there New Material so there fans and the band don't get bored playing there own music and I also don't think people actually know how complicated some Phish songs are-. Take Mound, that song is not easy to play, and if they mess it up. Well hey. They Tried.>>>>>>>>I am still In the camp that would rather have Phish playing 3.0 style Phish then 2008 Phish which was No Phish at all. So what ever you do take care of your shoes. I know myself I'll take hearing " Mercury" over Possum any day of the week. Don't get me wrong, I love Possum as much as I love Suzy G. But I've heard PLENTY Of both those songs in my 80-100 shows I've seen since 1993. For the record I am not a jaded vet,not a NooB or any of those other terms. I am a music lover that values great music and the talented people that make it. >>>>Ain't no time to Hate, barley time to wait. Whoa oh, what I want to know is where did Treys Stash go...
    >>>>>>>>>>>>

    • @ianfinnneman4352
      @ianfinnneman4352 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah man. Don't take it so personal. People just like to compare eras to what they first know and experienced. It's happened their whole career. It's just gotten more hateful in 3.0 for some reason. When I first started seeing them in 94 there were fans that were like wtf? Why isn't it like 91? Then in 97, it was, why is it getting slower? Where's all the notes. Mike was always the constant. Granted, like I said, the arguing wasn't as bad as now. in fact, I wouldn't even call it arguing back then, it was more if just talking shit, but it's always happened. But the period of time that was most similar was the 91-92 against 97_98 time. That was the first major difference in I saw. Even though people started saying things in 94, the sands started to shift in 97

      maybe they can't do it on a nightly basis, although 2014 is proving that wrong, and sorry if this doesn't sound like 1993 phish, but this jam is as rocking and good as any boogie on has ever been, if you can't see how awesome this is then you should probably just give up on phish and listen to your soundboard recordings from 1993

    Why do so many people have to compare everything phish does to the highlights of 90's? Personally I love 95' but I listen to it all and find the progression of their music insane. For me that's what makes them so special and unique. I love the first set throw away comment. If you go to these shows hoping to get a one song face melter you've missed the whole thing. Its not about that one show with that one song that blew you away. For me its the progression of the show through the setlist and how they can take control of the audiences emotions.. Those moments when you take a breath and look around and everyone is locked in getting down seemingly together is why I go. Good or bad phish brings me on a journey every time and every time its different and special. But that's me... im grateful for the PHISH

    • @ianfinnneman4352
      @ianfinnneman4352 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      fUNK fEST Because phish had had three seperate periods and people always compare them to what they were exposed to first as,a frame of reference to try and explain how good what they're seeing now. People do it with lots of bands. When i started seeing phish in 94 there were phans that didn't like how songs were getting longer as loved the short, tight machine gun fast in and out of songs wherean entire set would be two to three minutes of songs constantly hoping back into and out of escort at a rapid pace. I love 95. My favorite year. I know people that hated the funk, well i wouldn't say hated, but thought it was too slow. My favorite shows were in 2000. Not my favorite year, but a perfect show in 2000 when they utilized ambient, funk, lots of notes, mellowness all came to perfection. Like grateful dead for me. Only got to see them in 95. But I was exposed to 74 and 77 first so that's what I set my standards to. But i recognized good. 83 was awesome. All of 1989 was on fire. 2003 had some of Phish's best jams. When 3.0 started I thought 09 and 2010 were off a lot. They started to feel it again about halfway through 2011. I just think the legacy wad weighing heavy on them when they came back. 2013 was fucking awesome and they've built up every year since. Their shows aren't as,pin point accuracy as, the 90's but their sound is so full and I've never seen them having as much fun as they are now. And they combine everything they've learned over their career, so when they play a good jam nowadays, which is all the time it's fucking amazing. No band jams like Phish. But it did take a, while for 3.0 to take off. But you'll get no complaints from me about where they're at now. Trey doesn't stay up till 4 in the morning trying to think of something new to do for each show like he did in the 90's. I think that's how he got burned out and they split. But that's why the 90's, shows were always so flawless. Now they're comfortable again, having fun, and it shows. And they're type 2, jamming is better than ever

    Toured heavy from 95-98 during the Funk Era. Was at a show in Philly and a black security gaurd was basically chilling with my crew. They jammed this song out and mid jam the black guy said "Gawt Damn, this shit here is whats up!" Then he completely forgot he was a working security gaurd and started getting down with the rest of us. The Funk was undeniable.

      Opening night, June 7 2012. Worcester MA DCU Center... sorry u missed it, Great show, period. The QUALITY of the band was perfect, no missed notes or flubs, plus the only indoor shows of the summer tour, this and the next night... funny I don't even remember 6/8's setlist, but THIS night, play buried alive torn n frayed, funky bitch, ocelot, possum from set 1 and carini ghost boogie if I could Quinn buried alive reprise from set 2 (pretty much the whole second set, trust me). You'll love it.

      besides the great setlist, here is what i remember: bunch of people pissing in the hallways of the higher levels as there's like 9 men's bathrooms in the whole place and 2 wooks got busted by the cops in the parking garage with *MANY* pills (saw cops shaking pill jars) and i fucking saw them in the show. no idea how they pulled that off. absurd. too bad there's no hijinx for us this summer.

    I am so bummed...when I saw Phish in like '97 they played such a boring set and did all the "tricks" that supposedly they were putting behind them...no covers... I have seen some killer stuff on You Tube...but man the actual show did not inspire me to check out more....perhaps one day soon I will take another taste

    A rager for sure. This is Phish at top form post-2009 reunion. I do find it funny that some phans claim that Phish has evolved into superior musical lifeform in 2017 and they have "musical direction" now unlike rapid fire Trey of 1993. Hah, most of these phans were probably nursing in the mid 90s otherwise you would never make such a stupid claim. Truth is the band is older and can't be expected to produce energy of 20 years ago. Trey is also sober and rest of band, particularly Page, want spotlight solos and shared leadership. This is only way band could continue to perform with one another and we should all be thankful that they had wisdom and dedication to forge a new path. Sorry, I love these guys as much as next phan and still attend shows when possible but Carini>Sand>Light does not qualify as musical direction. It is usually 40 mins of free form meandering that takes up most of one set. Sure, it allows them to save energy for Divided, Bowie or some other core closer but it is not musical direction. Sometimes, I think some phans are doing some Molly type drugs and like this meandering or perhaps they have to believe Phish is better because it allows them to rationalize going to numerous shows when they should focus on adult responsibilities. Listen, you won't miss the GOAT if can't make all the MSG New years run, I promise.The GOAT has long passed and can be downloaded. When I sat through the infamous 2013 SOAM at Saratoga and actually heard many phans saying it was greatest, I died a little on the inside. That was a low point steaming pile if I ever heard one (though quickly forgivable). Yes, quiet often Phish lays turds but they also can still perform beautifully which is why we still go. 1/1/11 was one of my favorite shows ever b/c Phish reminds you that they can still rage, maybe not as hard but they attempt it admirably and still better than any other band can dream of.

      Youthful energy does not equate so simply with grate ness.
      They’ve aged into a deeply telepathic group mind, masterful finesse and elegant spaciousness in their time. Complimented by more meaningful, mature and soulful lyricism.
      When speed and number of notes is lost, depth, dynamic silence and poignancy of note choice is gained.
      Spaces of pure artistry and freedom achieveable only thru innate talent and playing with the same friends for four decades
