    I have a bottle of Taylor's 50 year old port. I'm holding off for a few more years until my 50th, and I can hardly wait to open and try 🙂

    "..because at my house, a glass of wine is 6 ounces....at least." - best wine quote of the year!
    Also, it's worth noting that this is often the wine of choice for communion within certain churches.
    Excellent presentation as always! I really enjoyed it and learned quite a bit.

      Lol. Thanks for the comment and important info about it being a communion beverage. Cheers

    After learning so much about the wonderful drinks of Italy on this channel, I am very happy to also see the drinks of my people. I just recently got to drinking more port after having tried it a few years ago when I was still very young and not liking it all that much. Now it's a whole different thing and I am happy to value the product of my culture. I was very happy to taste strong notes of figs when I was drinking a bottle of Graham's Tawny 10 year a few weeks ago, so it brought a smile to my face when the smell of figs was mentioned. Keep up the good work!

    To me personally, Sandeman 10 y/o is superior to 20 y/o.
    Great video, love your articulate word selection. Joy to watch, definitely picking up a bottle.

    This is great, I've been really getting into wine these days, I don't know how to pick a good wine, I just look at the most interesting labels and the best label is the one I buy. Only red though, don't like any other ones, but I've had some real bitter wines, I've found that most Cabernets , Merlots are my favorite choices. I would love to stry some of those ports too, I don't think I've ever had port. Super great video!

      Hi Pips! Glad you are venturing into the wine world! Red wines are great. You should probably start with a White Port if you decide to get one. It’s not priced to crazy for you to test the waters and half the portion of these products are like a glass of wine. Cheers to you my friend!

    I've had Graham's 30 year and really enjoyed it. Also, some ruby ports, but a few have been too sweet, I believe the ones that weren't aged as long. I want to try a white port since they aren't as sweet.

    So when people say dessert wine, the wine itself is the dessert? This makes so much more sense to me, because I always thought people were having these Ports with really rich, sweet desserts. That just always seemed so cloying and off putting to me. To my palate the only thing that goes with something like cheesecake is a dark coffee like espresso.

      Thanks for commenting. Yes, Desert wines are the Desert but they also go super well with actual desserts for some people. Cheers and thanks for watching.

    You are amazing with you explanations shocked there's no cuts in the video everything was said with no stutters. Just 1 question which port has a vanilla flavor to it, I'm reading online that the 40yr port has a hint of vanilla. I'm trying to find a port wine that is not fully sweet and has some nice rich sweetness to it . And which would you recommend after a cigar.

    A cheap port among friends is better than the finest port alone: all port wines are great wines

    Port is the best, and Sandemans is among my favorites for tawnys. The 20-yr rocks for its price point.
    I tend to favor Fonseca or Dow’s for the vintage ports, but honestly any are great if you let them age properly. Wait at least 20 yrs after vintage, or you’re figuratively pouring it on the ground.

    How long will a tawny port last once the bottle is opened? Since it's no longer aging, does it stay good indefinitely after first opening like a spirit, or should it be enjoyed within a certain time frame?

    • @MasterYourGlass
      @MasterYourGlass  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It will last up to 8 weeks if kept in the fridge out I prefer to get it finished within 6. Cheers!

    Great details. One question I still wonder should it be kept in the fridge once open. I tend to think not since it is barrel aged. But should the white be. I tend to think it’s sherry but I think that is not correct.

    • @MasterYourGlass
      @MasterYourGlass  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Stephane. Good question and I wish I would have mentioned it. It is definitely better if they are kept in a wine cooler or a fridge once opened. Especially if you only drink it occasionally. In the case it’s refrigerated than one must remember to pull it out of the fridge an hour or two before you’re going to drink it so that the temperature lowers to back to room temperature. Cheers!
