Whenever John Oliver comes on as a guest, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert needs to be extended to a two-hour special with no other guests. I love to see these two friends together just talking about whatever comes to mind. They never fail to make me smile.
The way John wiggles all around uncontrollably when he's laughing, he can't contain himself when trying to fool his friend. lol I love it! You guys are so cute together and I look forward to the conversations. For real, I'd watch an hour of this.
When John Oliver visits, all I can think about is the fact that these videos are never long enough. I could sit and watch these two giggle for the rest of eternity.
@repentandbelieveinJesusChrist2 I'd rather hail satan. Take your invisible asshole in the sky and go preach to a demographic that actually gives a damn about how women should be subjugated and how people who think differently than you will burn in an eternal hellfire.
That's also why I loved it when he had Steve Carell on. We really need an episode where they're both his guests at the same time, they'd be laughing so hard and going off on so many tangents they'd never make it back to the main topic.
They are literal fifth graders when they're together. Stephen's living it up with John's new ad, and as John is answering his question about why he doesn't have bangs anymore, he's doodling his bangs on the ad. The "Oh, come on!!" from John at the end says it all. It's all just so much fun, you don't want it to end.
John tried to pull a fast one but Steven is a veteran . Although they were never at the Daily Show together, you can see the bond of that show links them at a soul level
I was literally feeling depressed and “existential angsty” before watching this. Now I feel perked up and ready to face the day. These two are magic together!
I'd love nothing more than to work this friendship long and hard until it explodes all over the home screen of Peacock. But the media must be discreet, Jon.
as do I so you've presumably already seen John with Seth. but if not, I highly recommend all of their talks. If possible, it's even better than with Colbert, cuz Seth doesn't even try to reign John in (them together the day before the covid shutdown and John visiting Seth again once guests could return were both hilariously off the rails)
We need a Stewart-Oliver-Colbert-Carell roundtable on the regular. Those four are all such great friends and brilliant minds. I'd love to see them all sit in a room and bullshit about whatever comes to mind for an hour or two once a month or so.
John is great on his own show. But he‘s such a joy on other people‘s shows. This giggly 5-year old adult is so infectious to his opposites and it is so great to watch. Had tears in my eyes 😂
John doesn't want to go, and we don't want him to go either. He will always be one of the best guests on the show. Never a dull moment. I have a lot of Johns in my life too, but Oliver is easily in my top 3. 🤓
To add to what many others have already said, Steven and John should do a regular show together. Whether a podcast, or a weekly segment on Steven’s show that lasts far longer than one segment, this is comedy gold.
The gorgeous throwaway zingers come so fast and thick with these two! E.g., John on aliens: "We've taken this Life on Earth thing as far as we can, someone take the relay baton from us" 🤣 and John on Sharkweek: "No, because I am against corporate synergy in all of its most convenient forms" 🤣 and their back-and-forth about Stephen's horse-thief ancestor and dual citizenship... and Domino's Pizza. I am officially slain!
These two are like brothers who REALLY love each other, but will never forget the Christmas incident of 1986, & use it to get a rise out of each other at every family gathering since.

He's aged like a president in office
To be fair, most people aged 10 years during 2016 to 2020.
I went from early 40s to mid 50s in that span.
He probably did more for politics and diplomacy than the "president" between 2017-2021.
I've regained my youth since 2020.

Love John’s face at the end when Stephen tells him they’ve got to go…. He wants to keep sitting there and joking live with him. Adorable.
That beautiful, _beautiful_ man... 😻😹
It's like when your parents arrived to pick you up from a friend's house as a kid. Like, "Ahh Mom, come on!" energy 🤣
He also doesn't want "high velocity balloons" to be his last joke lol
Just because of this interview, John should say on the first episode this weekend "our main story tonight concerns high-velocity balloons".
Hahaha, and Colbert was almost buying into it too !
And then Stephen comes barging in or emerges from beneath the desk like Stewart does when Colbert has him over.
There is a thing called the jet stream which occurs at high altitude and things do move faster because of this
