People arent giving Higgins and Chase credit. They're two number 1 receivers. Theyll cause us some issues.

They cause every team issues. Especially with Burrow cooking. Bengals offense is still really tough, their defense just sucks. Guys still need to tighten up.

This whole video was showing Bengals receivers just outplaying our guys and there are still people here trying to fire Orr. Unless you say orr isn't disguising the coverage enough it seems like Bengals just outplayed us execution what rather than a bad scheme.
This is exactly what I wanted to see. Watching live, I thought it was execution but it's hard to tell not being able to see the whole field. I know most of this will get cleaned up, but going up against two elite receivers will continue to be a problem for them because they dont have the speed/talent to keep up. I'm a Brandon Stephens fan, but the reason he doesn't turn his head is that he can't keep up with speedy receivers. Hopefully, Wiggins can play well enough to take over on the other side because he actually looks like he could be a shutdown corner in the future. We really need another FS. I like Marcus Williams, but he definitely doesn't look the same since he was injured. Same with Marlo. They both look great at times and, at other times, not so much. Anyway, thanks for the video. Great breakdown man. I like the creativity of some of the looks. Just need to know WHO to do that against, dropping DL in zone coverage on QB like burrow. asking for some trouble. he's way too accurate, and gets the ball out quick

Madibuke should never and I mean never drop in to a zone coverage wtf is ZO thinking he has no clue how to play zone... if you sprint to your target which is the goaline those two plays are ints instead of touchdowns...
maybe there are many things wrong. fitness degradation/age, personnel changes, new DC, shitty schemes, poor technique, too many mismatches (malik harrison?!) not checking at the line, poor communication, no accountability… when you’re this bad at an entire phase of the game it’s not one thing, it’s many. too many. need a refresh top to bottom. nate wiggins is a number one pick, he needs to be in every down
The scheme is fine just guys not being in the right spot is hurting us. ESP with 6db sets. We did fine against buffalo and played a bend don’t break against Dallas. Also raiders got a bs call against stephens on adams in the end zone. We will be fine. Harrison is trash, that I agree with, but the rest is just baseless. The guys are there the guys are healthy it’s just knowing where you’re supposed to be and what you’re checking in and out. Give it 3-4 more games. Wiggins is starting to shine. Marlo is arguably playing his best in a couple years
The scheme works, it is very complex and does take specific player to make it work. We’ve had trouble converting cover-2 safeties into what we do because of the large man aspects and bracketing concepts. The real issue is discipline and relying on watching the QB, we need to be playing routes and receivers and trusting the pass rush. I’ve watch out MLB drop right into where the ball is thrown more than a dozen times but because they’re watching the QB instead of the receiver it’s an easy completion that would be contested if they played the man. Same goes for situational awareness. Teams have lined up in a 4 receiver set and the linebackers drop 5 yards while there 4 receivers running behind them and the back stays in to block. They aren’t playing the defense how it should be played. Part of it is new player adjustment but a larger part is coaching and overall awareness of what teams are doing.

Your best interior pass rusher should not be dropping back into coverage that much. We need to scheme a better pass rush like the Raiders did. We were in obvious passing situations, dropping a lineman into coverage is rarely effective. Burrow gets rid of the ball so quickly that only a free rusher or missed blocking assignment is going to get him. On the backend, we have to stop guys from getting a free release of the line. We were getting killed by quick slants until Marlon decided to jump one.
Hey Cole - That 70yd Jamar Chase tuddy, Marcus Williams dipped down too low as you mentioned, probably another instinct-led approach that blows up in their face.
Our deep secondary needs to keep their posts no matter what this season.
Any leash they had to go off script should be cut off until they can execute the scheme as drawn.
Bring in Beau Brade. Essentially he is a 2nd yr player, but hasn't been taking reps w/ the 1st team. Good instincts and nose for the ball.

Im trying be optimistic here when it comes to the defense with the hopes of communication and execution being better. I did want to see more film on Wiggins to see if he would give a better showing then what we have been getting from Stephens. I mean Stephens if you're going to play the WR to the sideline can u please START USING IT!!! To be bottom 5 in pass defense how much worse could these Rookie/2nd years injections make us. Here's my bid to seeing more Trenton, Wiggins, Brade, shoot atleast AR
Why is Malik Harrison still getting at anything but special teams? He has the athleticism of a mini fridge on an area rug.
That one dude only had one foot in bounds. The refs missed it and Harbaugh got gun shy about challenging it. Definitely one foot.
roquan getting killed in zone defense ..he gets caught looking at the qb ...thats one of the main issue because the slant was there all day ...dont know how we didnt go for stepon gilmore ..he would made this defense so good imo but roquan need to step his game up in pass coverage
I THINK THE RAVENS GOT OUT TO A SLOW START BECAUSE THE STARTERS DID NOT PLAY IN THE PRESEASON AND THE DEFENSE IS PROBABLY GOING TO TAKE A FEW MORE GAMES TO COME TOGETHER; BUT IN THE MEANTIME THE OFFENSE WILL KEEP THE RAVENS GOING.
Hey Cole - Jamar Chase tuddy at 8:15, I think this is another example of an instinct-led player going off script to try to prevent something that’s not assigned to them.
Just like the Hamilton TD to Xavier Worthy, and the Eddie Jackson (or Marcus Williams) long pass play to Khalil Shakir.

He is his coverage skills are worse than last year he looks lost and slow

I think Harbaugh has more of a hand in situations like this. How many times have we seen this same scenario regardless who the OC/DC is
The more film I watch the more roquan looks slow, and the more he seems out of position. He doesn’t get deep on his drops ever.
An Elite Edge Rusher makes the secondary job easier. I’d even argue that the edge rusher is easier to implement than hoping the CBs play better even with better scheme.

I don't understand something. On the bubble screen to Chase, you say Roquan took a bad angle. Didn't he have to take the angle he took to prevent a Chase cutback? Otherwise the entire middle of the field is wide open. He can't cover everything. He's got to assume that Harrison does the right thing and that Chase has to cut back.
More distance is an advantage for him. So on a screen I want roquan to still work further up field. That way he can react to either hole Chase hits

The 2 big play Jamar Chase TDs were baaad. Harrison was def at fault on the screen and Humphrey absolutely cheated prob thinking they were playing for a fg before the half.
Outside of those 2 tho, I don’t think the coverage was that bad.
Soooo many completions required great accuracy and timing…and some required there high end WRs to make good plays.
Kind of a perfect storm imo.

They look soft to me. Excluding Hamilton and Marlo on occasion no one other than Ardarius is playing with confidence and energy and really being impactful.
Ardarius has to get more playing time than Eddie. I would go as far as to say he should be on the field every snap.
And Marcus Williams is supposed to be the leader back there but we just not getting that at all.
DC just not right for the job to inexperience. I don’t think he,s going to last out the season I pray he gets better soon 🔜
Maybe you switch some players around . I saw a young player sack joe start him in the rotation to rest the starters . Also trie scem blitz
It seems like Washington should be playing more than Jackson. They would be giving up something in the run but at this point we need to shore up our pass defense. I don't know if Jackson mainly playing in 2 TE sets.

I just don't understand why Malik and Eddie Jackson are on the field. Especially Malik who has been responsible for so many big plays happening. But once again the teams stubbornness (that can only be contributed to Harbaugh) to not play our young talented players over vets...rears its ugly head once again.
We have guys at these positions that have proven they can ball (Trent Simpson and Ar'darius Washington) and yet they keep riding the bench for players who just can't execute.

Roquan has to understand that he has to protect the goaline on those plays! He should be sprinting back to the goaline to protect it there should be no reason for him not to be on the goaline in that situation... So yes Roquan has to play better in zone and that even evident from last season... and I never wanna see Harrison on the field again he is definitely trash... Simpson should never be off the field for Harrison the drop off is too significant!

Beau Brade over Eddie, Trenton should be an automatic SUBLB, give Nate more opportunities so he can learn how to catch picks.

The learning curve with Orr is gonna take longer than we hoped. MM had experience at DC before coming. But Jackson and MaWilliams are the worst duo in the League. They both should not be on the field at the same time.

Yes, it's Orr's fault, but Im not blaming him. Im blaming EDC and Harbaugh for promoting him to a job he is not qualified for. It's like hiring a teen to captin a boat. The only thing Orr did by taking the job and the Ravens did to Orr by giving him the job was limit his career, cause opportunities will not be as great once the Ravens move on from him. It a shame to waste Lamars valuable time here on hiring someone with no experiance to do one of the most important jobs on the team. The DBs look lost, staring at qbs as routes run all around them. Pile on blown assignments and poor overall speed when Wiggins is not in the field. Williams and Stephens look like slow clunky lego guys running around. Hamilton is basically playing LB. Smith has looked a step behind most of the time. The guy cant call a third down defense in the 2nd half to save his life. Enough of these excuses for the guy and call it what it really is, he us in over his head and its showing. Can he turn it around, maybe but doubtful. Can Lamar and Henry and Flowers bail them out every week, maybe but one small slip up, and they are cooked. They get so much praise for hiring good coordinators that they got arrgoant and hired a guy who wasnt ready yet.

@RoadGradersFB Just because Mcdonald got criticized the same doesn't mean the criticism about Orr isn't valid. We all saw Roquan show up and make the difference. Mcdonald had experiance and needed a field general. Orr has a general and can't figure out how to adjust, falls into traps and has guys way out of position or mismatched, time and time again. We have the players, they are proven, that coach isn't. Look man I put my money where my mouth is and have season tickets, I will be every week. I hope they can turn it around and fast, but don't sit there and try to have Orr escape criticism at this point just because Mcdonald turned it around. That's illogical and something a child would think of to say. Do better.

Lucky for us your season tickets don't buy an ability to make coaching decisions for the team. Have they subjected Orr to basically trial by fire? Yes. Especially since Mike had practice at DC at a college level before we gave him the job. Does that mean that after only 5 weeks we have an absolute answer weather he will ultimately be good at the Job? Hell no.
As MANY have said it took Mike well over 5 weeks to get everything dialed in and like I said....that was with prior DC experience. Orr is smart, he knows the schemes and he knows how to lead men. If you want to judge him based off his ROOKIE outcomes after he just been through a gauntlet of QBs and offenses that even SEASONED VET COACHES struggle to stop...be my guess. But when people don't agree with your so called "constructive criticism" you shouldn't be surprised.
Mahomes , Dak, Josh Allen, Burrows. 4 out of the 5 QBs our rookie DC had to defend back to back to back so far. Yeah...I'm going to hold my judgement.
