I often feel bad for the mice that my cats catch but then I have to remember that rats and mice often go around contaminating all our food and eating grains
Historically, cats saved a lot of human lives by killing mice and rats that were eating grain humans had stored for food. And in the case of rats, especially, rat fleas carried bubonic plague, every rat cats killed was one less plague carrier, back in the middle ages. (Mice fleas carried plague too, I think, but a mouse is a lot smaller. and carries fewer fleas...) :P
My cat used to bring them inside dead or half eaten. Found out when cats bring the dead rat and leave it, it's a tribute of love to you.. My cat must have loved the hell out of me!
Hey dislikers that are cute about them? Them squeaking? Their limbs? That way their eye sockets are shaped? Nah we can change that by knowing their one of the most destructive pests
And from getting pissed and pooped all over and contaminated too. You can't eat food that's had rodents walking over it. That's why cats are man's best friend. We probably wouldn't have civilization without them.
Gotta say. The camera work was amazing. Very creative. You did a fantastic job creating a mood: an atmosphere of slow doom closing in on the mouse, who gradually seemed to resign himself to his fate. That said, I felt sorry for the mousie. But it's a whole lot better than forcing your cat to go vegan. Mice and rats are this obligatory carnivore's natural diet. The reggae background music provided just the right dose of cognitive dissonance plus irony
Many ways to view the video, but I appreciate the interest and skill involved here, plus some patience. Other than technical know how, it's informative about the specific predatory behavior of cats and how mice respond, at least this cat and mouse. It reinforces what we commonly know, which is this predatory behavior is unlike other animals, or fish (except for the bluefish) that kill to eat their victim; it's quick, ruthless and to the point. The cat's superior predatory equipment is not used in the same way. When the mouse is not moving, the cat gives him a little nudge, with claws turned in, and then at other times the claws are eventually used, as can be seen in the puncture wounds. If the cat wanted to, if it was within it's DNA, to do so, it could immediately kill the mouse, but it wants to "play" with it, until it dies of shock and heart attack, or internal bleeding, I assume to vital organs. I watched my cat "playing" with a mouse and when I found it, it was on it's back, no apparent wounds, with it's chest heaving up and down for about 10 seconds and then it was still. I actually found it sad, it was upsetting, but it is a part of the natural order. I've often wondered how mice actually die, and if anybody can confirm my assumption many die of shock and heart failure, is this true ? Instructive well thought out video.
If the mouse get hits a lot in the head, it's concussion that slows them down. Also, smaller animals have incredible burst speed so they can run away very fast. So that's why it's hard for you to catch a mouse. However, smaller animals burn energy at a faster rate, in terms of calories/kg body mass/hour; so mice and rats have to eat a lot. a 25-30g mice need to eat some 5g of food per day. Scale that to humans and you need to eat 16kg of food for a 80kg average human. Thus, a mouse cannot sustain the activity of fighting and running for very long and it will eventually be too exhausted to run or fight. It's circulatory collapse and shock, but essentially, the heart can longer pump enough blood to its brain and it just collapses. It's probably also how humans chased down and catch animals for domestication. Humans is basically one of the best long distance runners in the animal kingdom. We can physically and literally chase down prey on grass fields until they literally collapse before we do. Well, probably not modern city-dwelling humans but hunter-gatherer types.
Rodents can die of shock and fright. The cat bats and batters it’s prey to assure that it’s dead. Rodents have sharp teeth and claws that can cause serious damage. A cats are soft bodied and don’t have strong bite force like canines. They kill with precision bites and ‘soften’.up prey so they die of fright or the battering takes effect . The best meal is one with minimal risk of injuries.
Cats don't mean to play with mouse as you think. They need to tired the mouse first before killing cuz mouse can fight back by scratching, kicking, biting if having any chance, another reason why cat don't eat mice immediately because cats don't eat preys while they're are still defending
If an indoor or barn cat is getting rid of bugs and mice, then he is helping his humans out. Back in history cats would rid the mice that carried diseases and poisons in and around warzones. A working cat is something that should be greatly honoured and appreciated.
@2:52 Mouse: What you gonna do man! I'd like to see you try that a WHACK!!! gain Korven: Oh you mean this? WHACK!!! Ok. Here comes Mr. jaw with razor teeth. I think I will use your tail to floss with.
My cats just corner play with and terrorize the occasional vole that accidentally wanders inside (very old dirt and stone cellar). I have to catch it live and take it far far away. Then they pout all day because I took their favorite toy.
I try to do that with birds if possible. Nice and rats are ok for him to eat. I save a bird via the window in this video: th-cam.com/video/gfLm5AUH93k/w-d-xo.html
Cats don't play. They have to exhaust the prey first before killing, especially with mice cuz mice can fight back pretty strong. btw let cats do their job, they're born for that
@@hoananh8745 by observation of my cat only, I say it is play. Sometimes he kills very soon, sometimes he plays a long time before the kill. He doesn’t play with rats or rabbits. He kills them immediately.
The little mice are pretty cute and I feel for them when he is playing with them. However, they are damaging inside the houses and spreading fleas and other parasites. So in the end I support the hunt.
This is so sad 😢 hate to think what that mouse would have gone through. I came on here to search how to save a mouse that my cat has injured and then I find these mentally ill people on here doing this. So upsetting to see 😔
Hi Katie. I understand what you mean. Unfortunately the cute little mice are pests and has been a problem for humankind since we started farming. The great plague most likely spread from rats and mice to humans. Humans and cats have been living in symbiotic relationship from the early days for farming wit one major purpose, the cats catch and kill rats and mice. Also the title of the film has a trigger warning to prevent people to see this if they don’t want to. The title also states that the cat kills a mouse. Please read the titles more carefully in the future to avoid this kind of sadness. Take care /Jukka
My favorite things about this video since I hate rats with a burning fiery of a million suns: -His tail is bloody -The sides of his body has holes from being scratched and I think he very well deserves it -Rats face at 3:06 from pain & fear; makes me smile and I wish all rats felt this -The fall the rat takes from cats mouth from being bitten and has a little twitch moment -Rats face of extreme agony after twitch -Cat takes rat home and eats it alive -Rat burns in hell for eternity

Me too. They look cute but they chew wiring the house and spread diseases.

Showed this to the wild mouses they dont run around anymore!
I'm so impressed that the thumbnail said "horrorfilm for mice: PAWS"
It's TRUE
That slow motion effect along with the reggae background music makes this the best TH-cam video ever!!!
Congratulations 👏🎉👏🎉🎉🎉👏
Thanks!!!!!

No actually its a sign ur cat thinks ur incapable of hunting for yourself hence u make to much noise when u walk or ur never quiet
Love the angles and when the cat steps on his tail 😹
this is why cats are evil they play with their victims before they get bored then they start eating and then act like nothing happened
Hey dislikers that are cute about them? Them squeaking? Their limbs? That way their eye sockets are shaped? Nah we can change that by knowing their one of the most destructive pests
For all you broccoli steaming, rodent loving vegans out there. Cats literally keep your food from getting eaten by rodents. You're welcome btw.
Well said! I have same feeling towards those turds too.
@@JeffSyam You guys are assholes. I'm not even vegan and I think you're immature jerks.
Listen I love rats and mice, but they are fucking annoying for eating my food. Can't they just eat like insects or cockroaches for that matter?? 💀

tom and jerry
Yes, but yet I was hoping their actor skills would make it appear as a real event...
@@JukkaTilli Lol! They haven't paid them enough!
@@JukkaTilli I forgot to mention: the cat and the mouse deserve accolades for their skills as crisis actors. You fooled everyone

This is one true mafia cat.
Sad for the mouse but that’s nature, in the wild cats have to live on something and when cats catch mice they’re earning their keep.

Cat steps on the mouse’s tail and says where the hell do you think you’re going? I own you!
That mouse can’t get into your cupboard and eat your food now! 😛
I have a house cat. My neighbor has three outdoor cats. My home, garden and even the compost heap are rodent-free.

Hi! The cat always kill it fast in the end before eating. He knows exactly how to quick do the lethal bite.
no warning needed this is entertainment
Why doesnt it run away
The chase has been on for 20-25 minutes when I start filming.
Its heart would of been beating so fast knowing that it has met its demise that it probably started having a mini heart attack half way through.
Dead mouse
Damn halfway in the vid half the mouses tail has been cut off
We don’t know how it lost it. He came home without it one day. A veterinarian made it possible for the skin and fur to grow over the final bone.
