- In the frozen north, a group of adventurers join together on a seemingly innocuous quest that will change Icewind Dale forever.
In this episode, the party learns more about each other than they were expecting to and are confronted by the sins of the past.

Forgotten Realms has Arctic Dwarves (also jungle dwarves, and several other types). They've got an unpronouncable name of their own, and unsurprisingly are immune to cold. Pretty rare, though Icewind Dale would be there sort of environment.
Of course anything another race gets, the elves have to have too and there are Snow Elves (though possibly not on Toril).
Huh. I didn't know that! It's kind of weird that they haven't included any of them in this module... Confusing. I wonder why not?

Well this was certainly a dramatic episode. At first my players wanted to share their secrets between them, but they decided against it - which I'm really happy for since it'll be more dramatic that way.

@@DorkTales One of them is an alagondar scion, one is an owlbear whisperer, one is an escaped prisoner and the last one has the old flame secret. She's also old friends with Ravisin and her sister, they had a falling out but I imagine it will be pretty dramatic when they face her in Lonelywood.

I know for sure Katarina’s big secret 😜 and I think I know her small one as well.
I know Vistra’s big(?) secret, but that one is easy.
I know Lysythian (I hope I spelled it right) big secret. However I have no clue about their small one...
And I know Callie small one, which was also super easy. At least I think it’s small one 😜

I've noticed that on Spotify sometimes your audio gets slow and it sounds like demons playing d and d.
Just one rule lawyer thing:
Both Moonbeam and Faerie Fire affect allies as well.
I write it just when it happens in case I forget later.
Will delete if you realized that later in the episode
I think I was using the benefit of the doubt as to where the Faerie Fire was launched, though you'll see in the next episode that I'm much more careful about location now.
As for the Moonbeam: well, it absolutely affected friendlies!
You realize that can trips do not add the characteristic bonus to damage? Most bills don’t actually unless it specifically says they do

@@DorkTales that is true, however the character we are discussing is a wizard so I was curious what was letting them add their characteristic bones to the damage
@@MizakiFelix Honestly, I couldn't tell you. I'm not sure if they did add it or I just asked if they did because I'm more accustomed to sorcerers. I've ran about 5-10 sessions since then, so my memory if the session is in the rear view. I'm pretty sure we did revisit it in the next episode and confirm that the bonus doesn't apply unless something says it does.

That is a great question. And no, it's not a class feature for her.
That's the third secret that was revealed. What it means, I'm not entirely sure. ( I have a sneaking feeling that I know what Callie's Secret is.)

LOL two things real quick, grabbing someone and putting them on your back counts as an action LMAO therefore dire wolf could only move 50 feet that turn and dwarf should have had to make animal handling or land base vehicle check to stay mounted… If NPC‘s need to make rolls then PC should too.
Riding without a saddle on a animal not designed for riding should have been at disadvantage as well.
For the mounting/grabbing action, I feel a certain level of handwaving is appropriate to make sure that the story progresses at a good pace, but I see your point. As for the riding checks: if the PCs were riding animals in combat, I would agree, but wouldn't make someone roll Animal Handling to stay on someone's back during a piggyback ride (although I would in combat... and now I really want to have that fight). Callie being a sentient creature means that the check isn't really called for, IMO, as Animal Handling is mostly used for coaxing animals and communicating across species barriers. Though land vehicles or Pilot: Dire Wolf proficiency might be an option.
Strangely, dire wolves are regularly ridden in Icewind Dale. Which is weird. I was surprised to discover that a number of bandits ride them in some of the encounters. No mention of saddles, so who knows on that regard.
@@DorkTales that’s cool :-) I did not know they were a regular amount and ice wind dale either LMAO; I know goblin ride them but they were small so therefore not an issue
Hey Kelly, there is no way that the Druid is not cheating with her dice; on average she consistently rolls a 15+ on a D 20 and never fails to roll less than 75 to 80% of max damage with anything she uses.
By the way she could not have healed the wizard the same term she moved the moon beam, both of them take her action.
Hi Mizaki, I think she used Healing Word, which is a Bonus Action. There's a chance it was Cure Wounds, and if that was the case I think she might have thought the movement was a bonus action as per similar spells like Flaming Sphere. I'll admit, learning some new spells and their mechanics (Moonbeam in particular for some reason) has been interesting and I appreciate the rules pointers. When I was learning D&D back in the 3.0 days, my DMs were very "sure whatever" with magic rules. It's been a hard habit to outgrow, but I'm working on it.
On the other issue, I will say that I appreciate your passion and concern. However, I want to reiterate that I trust Christine completely. She has both integrity and an incredibly competitive nature that wouldn't allow her to cheat. She's also smart enough that if she was the kind of person to cheat, it wouldn't be so obvious.
I can confirm that she actually is that lucky most of the time, even with witnesses. Unfortunately, it's getting to the point where rolling well or a natural 20 is causing her a good deal of anxiety because of the accusations that she's lying. I won't condone those kind of assumptions. Again, while I appreciate you trying to look out for me and the game, she has my full trust and support and that's the last I want to say about that.

@@DorkTales Hey Ho, guys. Still catching up, sorry for necroing this comment section. The cheating accusations are understandably upsetting. I appreciate your direct response. But I have to say those rolls from all players are OFF the chart (except Lysithians). My statistic prof would be rotating in his grave, if he were dead. Additionally not using Roll20 for player rolls and answers on dice cams of "oh no, my dice will get shy and not roll as well"....jeah (someone said that to your suggestion). Made a drinking game out of predicting 15+ and 20+ rolls. Had to stop it. This really sucks the fun out of it and is only mitigated by all of your amazing roleplaying. The whole cast is an utter delight, as is your dming. You are all amazing people and one of the best DnD shows out there. Love you to death, but for the love of Ao, use Roll20. :)
