You rarely if ever talk about diffuse thinning which is a form of male pattern baldness, but it doesn't involve only temple recession and crown thinning, but rather thinning all over the front, top and back of the head and it's very common.
I'm a 35 year old who is between a Norwood 3-4 with some general thinning on top (no bald spots). Based on pictures, I started "maturing" in my early 20's, experiencing the general thinning in my mid 20's and at 28 aggressively receding to where I am now (this is when I actually noticed I was balding). After much deliberation, I decided to get on Finasteride - age 31. I've seen little to no improvement in my hair but it has not gotten any worse in the 4 years since I started taking the medication. I'm still not happy with my appearance, so I am considering a hair transplant. I can deal with the thinning, but the heavy recession (think Richard Nixon hairline) is what really gets to me.
Started to lose my hair at 28 at the temple area, then a year later at the back. It really annoyed me having to make sure it didn't move through out the day, and getting it wet was the worst thing haha. Got worse and worse, until I hit 32 and just shaved I all off on a no guard. Now I am at 34 and loving it and I wish I did it sooner. It's a big deal when it starts, and having no idea what to do, but I have never met someone who shaved their head and regretted it. It never looks as bad as people imagine.
Speak for yourself. Some of us have tried the shaved head look several times, and every single female has reacted with a shocked look and the statement "you look... different". Happy for you
As your hair length increases, it looks like you’re losing more hair because the hairs are longer, so count how many individual hair strands you’re losing. Also, if you’re seeing a lot of extra hairs, but they’re a lot shorter than your hair, that just means that the ends are breaking off, so address how you’re taking care of it.
Great timing, Greg! After having to deal with major thinning on my temples for the past 5 years (I am now 37 years old), I have just undergone a FUE transplant 4 days ago, in hopes to regain my head of hair back. So far I can tell you that the surgical procedure was very simple and quick, and that I can advise it to anyone who still wants to keep their hair getting into their 40´s. I'm somewhere between stages 3 and 4. Very high temples and thinned some on top. I look good with a side-parting (long hair) but with a middle-parting you can see my scalp on the whole front/upper area of my head. The hair in that zone is also brittle and easily breaks off. So, soon I'll be sporting an involuntary mullet! Life is full of surprises, hah. I used to have very thick hair, but then it started thinning out at age 25, and I'm now 31, so I've slowed it some. I'm not too fond of losing my hair, as I also enjoy having long hair. But Greg, you're still gonna be my style icon number one, even if you go bald! You're ageing like wine either way. I totally get that anxiety, though. I think the high temples of stage 2 and 3 looks good, honestly. It's a strong, masculine look. But the thinning on top isn't super great with a long style, unless it's little enough that you can conceal it. My grandpa is the only one in my family who lost his hair, and he got all the way to stage 7 before he died at around age 65 (I was 5 when he died, but I do remember what he looked like, because I liked him a lot.) So I guess that's the sad future of my hair too then, if I should go by my genetics. Oh, well. I'm working on embracing my hair loss, which I'm sure I will eventually, but not until I'm done panicking about it first. I'll delay the inevitable a bit more, while working through my emotions about it. Then when I'm ready, I'll quit the Minoxidil and let go of my hair.
I appreciated your comment a lot, although I'm still at 19 yo I can relate with that final part and I laughed a bit ngl, thats what life is all about even the part of losing our lives itself. I also want to donate my hair when it gets quite long, at the same time I want to let it be even when I start receiding at the front when older, like Da Vinci's portrait or the samurai cut. Also how have you been? And what did u decide? I'm kinda curious ngl, hope ur doing well overall.

Greg Berzinsky 😂 Only if I get credit. But yeah the transplant route I agree would be best for you, especially since the technology has gotten so great and non-invasive. You could be a Norwood 0! Do you think you would do the FUT or FUE?
It bothers me a lot because I had hair like Greg. Never needed any product to style it. Then all of a sudden I started losing it without realising it and I took action a little late.
When I look at the scale my frontal hairline looks most like level 3. But I am almost 27 and I have that hairline for a couple of years now and my hair itself is thick so I am not sure if I need to take action or not...
If you hairline receded just a little bit , you lost more than 3000 hair follicles. You are in the denial stage. For some people progression is very slow and can take decades, but it always progresses. Get on minoxidil, hair massages and micro needling ASAP.
Is your hair naturally straight or is it curly?? Mine is curly AF and I hate this schitt. I still haven't figured out what kind of beard to grow out. As always, great video...
Grey, how does tom ford keep just a short black beard all the time. You said he is 50 he must have white/grey hairs. Does he dye it every day/ week or what?
ok soo, im getting a level 2 at my 22 years of life, that means im getting bald? and if not, how can i tell? hair keeps falling but in much less quantity that years before, but maybe it is because i take a lot more care now.
Great job Greg. It's possibly the best video made on the subject. You pretty much laid out all of the options. The one thing that made me not want to do any of these treatments, is the fact that you still have to take prescriptions until the day you die, meaning that you're going to worry about having hair on your head FOREVER. Life's too short and full of reasons to worry, losing your hair shouldn't be one of those reasons.
Great video, it’s a topic most man are embarrassed to talk about. I started noticing my hair line receding about 5 years ago and immediately got on Finasteride and I have been on it ever since, my hair line come back and I have ZERO side effects from the medication. Am seeing a lot of comments about just accepting it and shave your head that’s cool but I want to have the option to do so and not be forced when I can do something about it. One very important factor to consider is that high DHT labels cause hair loose but also cause ENLARGED PROSTATE so seeing your hair beginning to fall is an early indication that your have an hormonal imbalance and that’s why more testosterone is converting into DHT. The medication is NOT expensive if you know how to get it correctly prescribed. I pay $3.00 dollars a month for a 30 day supply.
not bragging, but is there another way to measure your hairline. my forehead lines aren't really visible (yet). I guess I could strain it super hard? idk.
As someone who is bald I think it's actually really bad advice to try and tell people to take potions and drugs and get this surgery and that surgery because ultimately none of it works, minoxidil and finasteride slow the hair loss but they don't make your hair grow back that is already lost and it will still continue to fall out and hair transplants are extremely expensive, need multiple surgeries and "touch up" surgeries for the rest of your life to maintain a natural appearance and they're not even guaranteed to work, they literally tell you that some or even all of the grafted hair can just fall out after surgery I went through all this but decided not to get the surgery thank god. I think it's much more important to teach men that going bald is just a normal natural thing and that it's not something you should fear worse than cancer.
@@kevinsamson1693 Trust me I know allow about hair transplants, I came very close to getting one. The doctors don't tell you enough about the problems afterwards, this includes the fact that a lot of the transplanted hair can simply fall out after being transplanted, they actually tell you this is possible but not that they pretty much know it will happen and not all grafts will take so your transplant will likely be patchy as hell, you wont have a full head of hair you'll always look like you're balding. Also you need constant "touch up" surgeries if you haven't gone fully bald yet, this means going back for years to replace hair as it continues to fall out and also to fill in gaps. It's just not worth the money or the stress.
You don’t know as much as you think. Look up before and after minoxidil/finasteride results. And then tell me honestly that people don’t regrow their hair.
@@ctown6592 You're very gullible if you believe those videos. Minoxidil and finasteride don't work for everyone and even in people they do work for it will only slow hair loss, not prevent it or replace hair that has already been lost. I have first hand experience with all of this, I watched all the videos and I believed all the lies and spent all my money ultimately found that nothing works.
What if you got all the front no loss in any way but getting the crown part losing hair. I overdyed my hair bright green a lot left it on longer than it said to make it brighter and burnt my scalp so hairs are going so it still grows but is little spots on crown missing

I've got a lot of issues to deal with in my life but thankfully my hair is not one of them - Indeed it's probably my greatest aesthetic asset. I do feel for guys who are experiencing hair loss... and even more so for women, must be devastating.

Would using the laser brush work on a beard? Making the beard thicker and or grow longer?
Minoxidil does
You look like God Zeus Is that you?
Have you seen Zeus
Bhagadatta Brihadrata well after seeing this video I can safely say that I seen sues

Rajarshi Nandan Deka 😂 he meant in the myth and god of war of he never seen him cuz he doesn’t exist
Grey, how does tom ford keep just a short black beard all the time. You said he is 50 he must have white/grey hairs. Does he dye it every day/ week or what?
At 24 I'm about 1.5 not quite a 2, though some small recession, to be expected. My father is bald, as are my brother's.
ok soo, im getting a level 2 at my 22 years of life, that means im getting bald? and if not, how can i tell? hair keeps falling but in much less quantity that years before, but maybe it is because i take a lot more care now.
Take a shot every time Greg says "actually" 😂
Doesn't the weight of longer hair cause it to fall out quicker? Along with the tight pulling of tying it back?
You can also use a hair patch to cover your hair
I'm on stage 2. I'll deal with it "a la Jude Law", meanwhile I'll enjoy the hair I still have. Excellent explaining Greg!
Just go for the wig like Elton John
I’m a stage 2 too, but I think abit of recession looks good but I’m afraid it goes beyond stage 3
Man, you're so lucky. I'm starting to lose my hair at 23 and it's crushing me.
Get on finasteride and minoxidil asap
@@aragorn1079 FUCK THAT FIN ! Minox was fine though
It would be so much easier if there weren't such a cultural stigma against male balding.
not bragging, but is there another way to measure your hairline. my forehead lines aren't really visible (yet). I guess I could strain it super hard? idk.
Next make video on what you eat in a day for the best hair possible
Greg please i want a complete tutorial on your beard and hair.
Where did Mike go for that surgery? Can you let me know please?
If you want an actor for a Greek God movie he’s the one
I’m a Norwood 2, I honestly think it looks good nw2 with abit of recession but I’m afraid it goes beyond to nw3
Finasteride + Minoxidil + Dermarolling
Transplants are good ideas the donate parts of the hair to the area that’s has no hair and it’s permanent forever
Thank you santa
😂
There's also the Elton John method, where you just wear a wig.
Or the Ralph Cifaretto
Does your tattoo say "fighter" in Hebrew?
What if you got all the front no loss in any way but getting the crown part losing hair. I overdyed my hair bright green a lot left it on longer than it said to make it brighter and burnt my scalp so hairs are going so it still grows but is little spots on crown missing
I appreciate the effort into making this video, but Greg is the last person we need talking about this. It’s like asking a fish how to hunt for a tiger.
he can talk whatever he want! he saying in the video he may lose his hair so he talk with hem self and with us, teaching us what is the solving things for thinning guys who are not comfortable to lose it for a buzz cut!
Your hair is luscious. It grows so fast too. I’m 16 years younger than you. I have a lot less hair.
You just have bad genes. I'm so sorry bro. God is a cruel man
Number 2 at 26 let's hope it continues...
Man Greg is badass! Reminds me of my uncle old man badass too!
I shave my hair every year so that it is healthy
I’ve had a so called receding hairline for my whole life what do u call that ? It hasn’t gone bsck further what so ever
Sometimes it happens extremely slowly
Some people just have really high hairlines.
There are those with naturally high foreheads as was mentioned. But it sounds like level 3 [3a has crown thinning] My dad stopped at level 3 [or less]
@@BerzinskyRules So it is possible that mpb can stop at a certain stage? I keep reading once it starts, it will progress.
Anyone who has used monoxidil..... has it actually work for you?
Yes
Yes. I've been using on a daily basis since 2016. I was level 4. Now, my hair is longer than Greg's. So, for me, it works very well!
I've gone the other way! For many years I shaved my head but now as I'm approaching 50 I've let it grow out and it's now approaching Berzinsky-level length and lusciousness. I've got a lot of issues to deal with in my life but thankfully my hair is not one of them - Indeed it's probably my greatest aesthetic asset. I do feel for guys who are experiencing hair loss... and even more so for women, must be devastating.
That shirt though!
And saw palmetto could be an option?
Nope. Doesn’t work.
Just have good genes like Greg here theory
Mine is no. 2 and I am 33
6:14 regrow the drug?
Lol
Otis B. Driftwood
I would probably get a hair transplant in all honestly and finance it hah !
First Zeus, then Gandalf
Living meme
President Trump says that He has good hair due to eating McDonalds French fries. Truth be known that there IS a enzyme in the oil that cooks the fries that is shown to have hair regrowth .So if this is true, you can eat , treat and grow your hair at the same time.
What about Jon moxley lol
1.25 inches is a mature hairline!
Oh my fricking god 🥺
Chillax it's not bad, honestly some women really dig the bald look. 🤣 trust me i have experience
Women kiss my bald head boy. They love it.
What does your Hebrew tattoo say?
לוחם - warrior / fighter
I wish I could Look like you Bad ass

If Venus had a husband.
greg are you the son of god?
first comment?
Watching a video of Greg talking about losing hair feels like watching a video of Donald trump about how to stay fit and lean
Sorry Greg, you aren't really one to speak about hairloss
Just deal with it
