  • How to think mythically and sense archetypally to better understand our shared humanity, yet honour the diverse ways we live and make meaning. Australian-born Lithuanian Kristina Dryza is recognised as one of the world’s top female futurists and is also an archetypal consultant and author. Kristina has always been fascinated by patterns for she feels we are patterned beings in a patterned universe. She writes and speaks about the patterning of seasonal, tidal, lunar and circadian rhythms and their influence on creativity, innovation and leadership. She also explores archetypes and mythology to perceive the patterns in the collective unconscious and their expression within our psyches, society and media. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

WOW! Amazing speech. At 3:53 Kristina says: "Myths can either enslave or liberate us". So true. Many modern films and the Daily news are stories that are enslaving us 24/7. There is no relief. Yet ancient, timeless spirited stories can help us to understand what on earth is going on within us (emotionally) and around us (physically, politically, economically and most importantly environmentally). We are spiritual beings and if we are lucky enough to remember our dreams, we can learn to interpret them as they are our own individual myths that can connect us to the "collective unconscious" every single night. Our dreams are our own individual myths, and we can learn to interpret them once we learn to interpret ancient myths the way Kristina describes in this speech. Well done Kristina, you are doing a service to humanity.

Our challenges, and our graces, have the gods and goddesses and the myths alive in them. So how will this now shift the power we bring to our thinking, feeling, choices and actions?

Beautifully eloquent. Spot on throughout the talk, with excellent pacing and delivery.. I dream of a world where this metaphor/mythology is taught starting in grade school. Where we collectively agree to rise above the more vulgar surface truths of our daily living, and work diligently as a culture to more fully comprehend the power and magic of this day to day journey we call life. Brava!

The problem of mainstream society when it comes to living a balanced life, the want the quickest way of reaching that state of being is always pursued but not easily found. Without a clear relationship with God there will be confusion. That contact does not promise or give a life with no trials but does gives grace and mercy as you go forth.

I’m so afraid our common consciousness is damaged beyond repair. Especially when looking at the recent events happening in the world... which made more clear by what is happening in the USA. Watching these videos/ people make me think how important it is that the message is broadcasted - that the more awakening, the more of us can save our selves... humanity. This is real - we must understand the archetypes of our psyche. Then we may find a way back to ourselves, to awaken and break free from the existential trap we’re stuck in.
