Learn how most foot pathologies are caused/encouraged by the posture deforming features of footwear, plus an innovative approach to rebuilding foot function and alleviating root cause, rather than merely managing symptoms.

    Great presentation! I've been wearing correcttoes for about 9 months. This is the first time I've heard about the foot relaxing, and I thought maybe it was just me. When I first put them on (only while sitting for the first few days) my feet immediately relaxed. I went "ahhh." My arches feel better now, too, all the time. My toes are straighter than they were, but I imagine I'll be wearing them for quite a while. Still have plantar faciitis, heel bursitis, but it's bearable now. When I walk, I feel balanced because my toes are spread and the Altras are zero drop. Thanks to Dr. Ray!

    I wish I had been introduced to these as a first attempt to help my feet have less pain. Two lapiplasties with bone shortening and hammer toe repairs...then a revision to fix a failure, complete with toe joint immobilization.. and more hardware along my arch. It's just a disaster. My feet are worse off than they were. I would have preferred to give these a try, and deal with surgery later in life that would have been way less traumatic.

    There are even more sizes now; however, you still need a size between the largest and the next size down. With the next size down, there's no way I could fill up the toe spacer so that my great toe is straight - the spacer keeps popping up and out from between those toes. Meanwhile, Correct Toes staff sent me a picture of the Largest and the size I own and the difference is HUGE. I need one in between.

    I am thinking studying and listening to varied thoughts. Can wearing toe socks help before transitioning to correct toes?
    History:
    I have had bunions on both feet since early teens and was told I must have surgery or I would have trouble my entire life. I was not willing to do surgery and asked what else to do. I took that doctor's advice ... wore all leather low heeled shoes for many years and later 'comfort' or heavy very supportive athletic shoes my entire life... no real bad foot pain unless long time standing or walking long distances during that time. But I also sat a lot with my career. Later in life my knees were shot from dancing and gaining weight. Was careful to change those NB athletic shoes out every 6 to 8 months as was suggested by PT.
    Last year after a lifetime of conventional shoes I learned of lighter footwear and zero drop from a new functional integrative PT. But transitioning out of the NB shoe to a lower drop shoe has been a challenge... my feet have been sensitive to any any changes so far. Can't go back either as that did not feel right either. I tested about 12 different shoes and landed in a couple of pairs of Oesh athletic shoes, a Teva Sandal, an Ugg boot and a Haflinger slipper. Not sure these choices are working well together for my best foot health.
    Are there any Egoscue exercises for the foot beside the roll ankle to right and to the left and flexing forward? I do those in static back now. If you know any way to ease my transition or if it is possilbe to allow my feet to accept a different shoe... say a Finn Comfort Shoes sandal, a dance cowboy boot or water/pool shoes that may have different more 'conventional' configurations. I feel caught between two footwear theologies.
    Over all health wise:
    Neurosurgeon, Dr. Jack Kruse is helping me with Sunlight, water, magnetism therapy, avoiding blue light and opening up to being in sync with nature, seasons and my environment. Changes a lot of 'conventional' medical thought. I'm not taking anything hook, line and sinker. I've studied health full time for 10+ years and have made many mistakes in trying to determine hype and marketing from truth that truly 'sets free' and provides truly healthy options for me. We are all very different pretty sure what works for some will not work for everyone.
    I just want for myself and my family to avoid unnecessary surgeries and procedures and age as well as possible.

    I am a 65 year old male have been in correct toes now for 3 days due to mild bunions and numbness in the balls of my feet and planter pain.My doctor recommended hard plastic shims in my old shoes which are not working.
    So I'm in transition from narrow banana boat shoes to the Lem's primal 2. Went for a mile walk today and notice i seem to be heavy on the heel contact jarring my head , like no more shock absorb-er with old shoes. So is it like learning to walk all over again in these type shoes? I am sold on this and believe what you say here ..... thanks for a great information video, I already have feeling coming back in my feet again after 3 days of correct toes and bunion excersice

      As an update I had removed the very thin liner in the shoe, I put it back in and it made a big difference, so i think I will go with the liner until my transition period is over. I am now experiencing sore muscles on the back of the leg from the foot up to knee which I think is normal. One great thing I have noticed is that it now takes very little effort to walk up a hill.....I am thrilled!

    Hi Aaron - I hope you can help me understand something regarding plantar faciosis: if the blood supply is being cut off resulting in tissue necrosis, why does the plantar facsia hurt in the morning when walking on it? Does sleeping cut off the blood supply? It would seem that "resting" the foot without being constricted in shoes would increase the blood supply?
    Many Thanks,
    Margaret

    Great illustration.. in reference to the commenter @ 44:30ish.. I understand what you mean as far as when you try on a shoe and its pinching or a tad tight.. and someone says.. give it some time and let your foot get used to it.. and were like.. get used to what? Pain?

    why did you remove the liner in your shoe?

    • @correcttoes
      @correcttoes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, Rosie,
      We sometimes suggest removing the liner to increase space in the shoes and to remove a contoured arch that liners may have. Also, it sometimes allows better ground feel for your feet. Let us know if you have any further questions.

    Why is this so overprices? Correct toes are nothing revolutionary but a copy of the previous idea with some small modifications. There plenty of cushions and pads on Amazon that are way cheaper and design come pretty much close to it at a fraction of the cost. "Variety reasons" what nice general statement versus actually indicating a clear concise answer. The bullshit of companies. Silicone is an inexpensive product total production cost for each is way under 4 dollars for a pair. You can even 3D print this and they would cost you still less than 10 dollars. So again how were is you over 600% mark up come into play. Marketing nope not much out there everything is word of mouth, packaging nope its simple nothing fancy, you can actually make the packaging even cheaper if they wanted too. Patents nope none out there just the trademark for the name. A $60 dollar pair of shoes has more components and is more costly to produce than this.

    • @JohnMoseley
      @JohnMoseley 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I opted for correct toes after seeing two reviews: one on Amazon that said the purchaser had to buy it several times a year as it wore out quickly and one for correct toes in which the reviewer said he'd had his for three years and they were only just wearing out. The cheaper ones seem to be a false economy.

    • @cathyneill2922
      @cathyneill2922 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I kinda balked at the price at first too. But after using toe spacers for over a year, yeah, as John says, there are even a couple of duplicates out there, but they don't last as long. I would add the caveat that if you're someone whose toes are initially so cramped that you have to start with one size and move to a larger one after a few months, then you don't need the durability and it's good to have a cheaper option for the smaller size.
      The firmess/softness/flexibility is pretty much perfectly done, it's clear a lot of thought, research and trial and error has gone into the design of the product, and that they're pretty well quality controlled. I figure it's fair enough for Dr Ray McClanahan to make a decent living from the work he does which includes this innovation. I still think something like $40 would be fairer. Who knows, maybe the price will drop when they can do larger production runs.

    • @cathyneill2922

      @@marcz9482 "you can use your fingers for free" - what on earth are you on about? You can't use your fingers while you're walking, running, or cycling.
      For me, reducing the angle of my bunion from ~30° to ~10° in the space of a year has been well worth $60. I've yet to find a cheaper option for keeping my toes in the correct positions while active that is comfortable to wear all day, especially when walking and cycling for 4-6 hours at a time.
