    Imagine being a marine pushing on to creep.
    You're walking over unnatural goo while having to attack invisible organs in the ground that [whoever sends the mules] is telling you about. Occasionally being told to run up ahead of the safety of your tanks to lure hordes of lighting-fast bug-dogs or giant cockroaches - where at least and handful of your comrades will die. All the while reports come in of your bases back home being overrun by hordes of the bugs - a swarm bigger than any that you may have never seen by that point.
    And you keep going - pushing further and further in - until you see a wave larger than before charge you... Your squad falls back in waves, shooting as you go, returning to the safety of your tanks. But as you get closer, no blasts from your distant artillery come, no holes in the enemy lines appear -- as you reach the fortified positions, you see that it is covered in a dense fog. You might even see the massive insect slithering around in the sky... and receive cool orders from above to prioritize its life over your own.
    And as you fight for your life, no order to retreat comes... The tanks are torn to shreds by a sea of insects and those standing ahead of you are disintegrated in seas of acid and volleys of spines. You may even find a virulent fungus growing in your suit - eating away at your flesh.
    Eventually, if you're lucky, you might find a place on a medical dropship - watching the last of your army become engulfed in a sea of shell and claw.

    It could be satellites in orbit to support and it explain mules, supply drops, and scans.

    • @kindlin
      @kindlin 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's like how OSIRIS-Rex dropped the pod off at Earth and kept going, but the Terran mamaship would launch the first CC down to start off the game and then circularize its orbit for the upcoming orbitals and other support. Or it could launch the CC and enough satellites to support any upcoming orbitals.

    4:37 The Brood War opening cinematic answers this question. Huge battle cruiser above a battle
    "Admiral, the colonist space will be overrun in a matter of minutes. Shall we intervene?"
    "Take us into orbit Mr. Maalmsteen, we've seen enough."
    Battle cruiser then abandons the ground forces. Yeah pretty morbid

If I might make a small request: there have been a lot of times recently where you are focusing the camera on base building for an extended period of time while significant fights are going down elsewhere on the map. I'd love to see more of those fights rather than trying to guess how they played out.

    There is almost no reason for Interstellar armies to clash on planetside unless the Navies are in Stalemate. There are probably huge Zerg and Terran fleets in orbit just daring the other to attack.
    In this case, a naval battle would destroy them both, so they deploy armies instead in a sort of involuntary mutual agreement taht the winner of the Ground battle takes the planet. Plus, whoever wins will definitely make groundside defenses which will make a naval battle disadvantageous for the loser.

    4:40 - "If there's a massive Terran army nearby, why aren't they helping!"
    That's YOUR army, though! The troops you train on the ground is the cost to build their equipment and suit them up so they can go out and fight, and you need supply to keep them well-fed and well-equipped while they're on the ground because it's too inefficient and time-consuming to ferry supplies back and forth from the Hyperion.

    The Hyperion in orbit doesen't help because this platform woulden't be anywhere near a priority target. There's less than 200 zerg here, so they would focus their efforts on locations with like thousands or millions of zerg.

    They're fighting the big space battle while the low tier commanders battle to secure a location. You can't expect Raynor to micro every single unit in a massive fight.
    Raynor as in the lore hero, not the player. You can definitely expect Raynor the player to micro everything in a big battle.

      It depends on strategy. Generally Zergs that like to macro prefer large maps with more open spaces as they can engage against sieging armies easier and have more opportunity to create a surround. Zergs that cheese would rather play on smaller maps because the rush distance is short.
      Terrans prefer maps with plenty of choke points, ledges, and difficult to reach airspace (libs).
      Protoss prefer maps with closer expansions and more difficult entries into their expos to better defend them.
      Those are just some examples. However these map designs rarely ever offer any substantial advantage.

Instead of risking to loose my vikings I load them into a medivac instead of transforming back and flying away. Also it just takes 2 places in the medivac, what the hell is this? • @Nurriek
    @Nurriek 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Gods it feels like Terrans are always in such a sorry state. The only way to win is to take control of the game from minute 0:00 and put on so much pressure that you never lose control of it.
    Widow mines kill your own shit. Tanks kill your own shit.
    Banelings don't kill your own shit. Fungals don't kill your own shit. Disruptors don't kill your own shit unless you are very, very bad. Storms kill so much more of their shit that it isn't even worth mentioning.
    All of our tools for dealing with deathballs and swarms are so lackluster, that in a 1 to 1, the enemy gets a split, and terran loses, or the enemy is protoss, and terran loses. Cause protoss units are chonky and strong, except stalkers.
    The only time Terrans can win is when they never let the other race get off the ground.

    pro-gamers are sensitive to small changes, and statistics are tricky things. shaving a few seconds makes a huge difference for pro-gamers. for statistics there are nuances that are missed by most people, one well known one is gun violence. banning guns lowers gun violence, but violence in general goes up when it is banned and people typically argue using general violence stats then when a ban happens use gun violence stats without realizing that those are two separate stats. a UK set of stats was used for a long time which showed a drop in violence after banning guns, however when looking at the more granular statistics there was a short lived spike after guns were banned which corresponded with the increase in police which followed shortly after the ban on guns, and we know that more police means less crime. we could talk about false accusations of rape or any other subject in which statistics are often used to show how statistics are nuanced and used incorrectly. we probably don't need to get into silly things pros do to give themselves a small edge, like the extractor trick, that most end up using because they work and make a big difference in the long run. this is why when a pro does something that isn't backed by statistics there is a 50-50 shot that they know something the statistics aren't showing.

    You have to take statistics with a grain of salt. Yes, the average win/loss percentage is bad for terrian, but that is based on the average player. Some players' abilities are above that average. If Oliveira wanted to be practical about it, he should consider the stats. However, every pro player in any category will do their own analysis because the statistics aren't as clear-cut as many might believe.
    For example, I wonder why pros are fighting for gold bases. Wouldn't it be ideal to just grab those minerals with your workers and rally back to a safer drop-off? I'm sure this concept doesn't work in every scenario, but you have to admit that there are at least a few where this approach makes more sense. I mean, you are getting twice the minerals. In a way, it does pay for the delay.
