Luckily, the Zerg are all one consciousness, and so moral questions about individual sacrifice are moot. Is it punishment to trim your nails and cut your hair?
Someone should make a quiz with a bunch of questions like that and varying degree of "strong promotion" "weak promotion" etc.

24:19 There’s actually TWO traitorous widow mines. The first one weakens the Medivacs, and the second one finishes them off.

I think Terrans have to work very hard for their units and everything but you can end up building such a specific army with it that it's just crazy

A "Gambit" is literally a play where you sacrifice something in exchange for possible advantage later. Queen's Gamit is a Queenside sacrifice to maneuver for a better position. Literally, exactly what it describes. This is exactly how Starcraft strategies are named, actually.

47:55 Lowko misses the 10 banelings runby that you can see in the minimap at 12 o'clock because once the banes morphed and started moving, they all died at once (probably to a widow mine) That hurts... And at 48:18 you can see he moves his mouse to jump to that area of the map, but there is nothing to look at, so he saw something move there, but it's gone.
The crazy thing about the traitor widow mine is that there are actually 2 of them that consecutively hitting the medivacs. Like 1 of them could be a coincidence, but 2? Paid actors for sure
Ok I have a new name for Zerg drops. Call them Zepplin Drops. They are slow like a Zepplin and kind just float there.
Also, a gambit refers to sacrificing a pawn for a positional advantage, which I think also is applicable to hatch/ebay natural blocks.

I was rocking stealth banshee rush in the Wings of Liberty beta. 75% win rate over about 300 games, through all the resets.
The gambit is good to use as a name, from Italian Gambetto, opening in which you sacrifice a piece with the aim of getting an advantageous position
I can confidently imagine this guy in a family meeting, as all of them sit down to eat, Simon randomly starts to narrate whats going on xD

I thought the widow mines friendly fire was intentional on some of those hits.
I used to sacrifice a few overlords/seers by having them hover over enemy troops ahead of my attacking army.
If you've got minerals to spare it can really work to your advantage.
1. If they're targeting the air, it means my ground troops reach them healthier.
2. If they're not targeting the air, it means there's a constant threat of widows hitting their own troops. Also means they're on cool down, sparing my ground troops.
Win/win!
Today I learned banelings don't deal friendly fire
Imagine if they did!! First two explode and kill the ones behind it triggering a chain reaction that destroys the whole army. Game might finally be balanced…

Don't forget Ghost which counters every late game Zerg unit. Oh and is good against zerglings and trades well enough against banelings in resources lost to kill a ghost.

Lowko you may not know, but Jack Frost was a firebat in one of campaigns in SC1.
I was playing beautiful silver league... some guy massed BC's... I panicked once I saw and started doing vikings and widowmines. I put the mines throughout my base, had about 27.. just sprinkled where I thought he'd jump into. He pops in and losses almost half of his forces in 20 sec due to just 'boom, boom, boom'. he did not quite, but started trying to mass again.
I took the vikings like in that one campaign mission with the colinists and started landing next to expansions.. dead in seconds.
Was a fun 30 min game lol

Baneling is punishment, you go from all you can eat zergling into a rolly Polly boom boy that doesn’t get to celebrate eating the corpses in victory as u would as a zergling.
The Zerg regard all assignments, no matter how grand or mundane, to be promotions, for all they do is undertaken in service to the betterment of the Swarm.
Now, SCVs on the other hand, gotta wonder about the guy who gets sent out to repair bunkers under fire. Do they send their best to make sure they do a good job, or do they send someone low-ranked to not risk them? Do they draw straws? Or do the SCVs get together and chat "hey, Steve is a real dumbass and kind of a pain, next time one of us is needed on the frontlines, we're sending him."
EDIT - Canonically, Archons burn themselves out shortly after creation without some external force of psionic energy to sustain them, so merging into an Archon is seen as the highest sacrifice a Templar could make and the Protoss greatly honor them.

I'd just like to point out in the Wings of Liberty Days 🤓: We had what we called the "Destiny Cloudfist" build, so don't tell me Terran's can't have cool build names.

Nerf MULEs too. That game 5 push would have won against Protoss but Terran can brush off the SCV loss too easily
But if that Templar, who speaks and thinks only about football, with which you're merging - you'll be liking that football right away. It's like a stupid-ness pill - you drink it and you're happier.

gambit is just an old word for gamble. so 'Queen's Gambit' wasn't as inventive of a name when it was invented, and if taxis ever fall out of favor then the 'German Taxi' might be a cool sounding name.
on that 3rd game, if reynor had just made like 20 reapers in the beginning. he could have won.
The name thing is because chess is several hundred years old and does nkt change, only the meta does while Starcraft is young and there are patches..
