I think I speak for everyone, if you want to just focus on playing we wouldn't blame you for the lack of narration. Or if you want to record audio over the game after the fact. We want to see you go as far as you can!
He’s said before that he doesn’t want to do voiceover because he gets tired after the games and doesn’t want to spend twice the time per video, and that not speaking wouldn’t actually improve his performance much.
You're a good sport Marc. You're obviously disappointed, but you played well and gave good entertainment and analysis. Special is a tough early seed, and I also think you psyched yourself out a bit; you might have been better served throwing more craziness in, as that's what you've been focused on recently. A great series of videos, in any case.
I only wanted to add that your post-match analysis is one of my favourite things in your videos. I may leave some of the early or mid game in the background only listening to it, but when the analysis comes on, you have my full focus. You make it absolutely perfect. If anything, I want more and longer analyses.
@@AlexandriaLibraryGame unlikely, yeah... Anyway, I hope he goes out with a blast late in the tournament: His game and the constant chat are pretty entertaining. He's really enjoying himself, for the others it is much more of an all-in. His plays work well on the tier below the pro-gamers, mosty because his APM and micro are still no joke - even though he's lost much of his progaming know-how - like knowing maps, timings, etc. etc. But I want the best to win and I'd like to see someone just stomp him at every turn. It's amazing to see god-like players, even though I like Thermy a lot.
Thumbs up and a big thanks that you trained for the turnament and participated. Please keep it up. It was very entertaining and amazing level of play and commentary. I love to hear your thoughts while you play and make decisions. This is unique and very high level. For me you are a GOAT not only because u can play very good but because you are such a cool person doing so much for sc2 scene, giving us entertainment, education and excitement for a game after so many years.
I love watching Marc's growth as a player and human. I'm a sore loser myself and often rage quit after losing. Especially when I feel I couldn't show my all, but Marc stays with the good vibes and focuses on his enjoyment and his viewer's. I really respect and envy that ability!
A growth as a smurf killer? Maybe if he didn't spend so much time beating up on people worse then him for views, and actually practices vs his equals, he would have been able to qualify. I wonder how many people he has made rage quit with his smurfing?
I know I'm a bit late, but when something disappointing happens, know that there are a lot of people, myself included who got back into SC2 after many many years because of you. You positivity and skill are truly inspirational, and I hope to see more great games in the future!
@ time is the only true currency. ill cap it off by saying that i've enjoyed every minute of marcs live analysis of sc2 games and do not require a refund. i thank mark for being the man that he is and wish him well on his journey
Proud of you for trying and giving it your all. You're still an amazing player in my eyes. If you want, take some time off for you - you deserve it. We'll always be here when you come back. Best wishes, Marc.
I've got to say. Thank you for the position of the advertisements. I didn't even know TH-camrs could choose the moment but having them between games makes them a LOT more tolerable. I don't see that from the other creators I watched, as usual you are the best. xOxO
My dear Marc, I am a huge fan of yours and I think you deserve the first place in a Pro Starcraft Tournament not only because you are an amazing player, but you also have a wonderful personality, and you bring us a lot of joy, it is a very rare combination. From my subjective point of view, I strongly believe that you did not lose at Starcraft in front of Special, his gameplay wasn’t spectacular nor unbeatable, you lost these two games against your own mind. It is the first time I have seen you playing with fear. You literally hypnotized your mind with your worries. In each video you make you play fearlessly, and you are unbeatable. I think you can outplay even Clem, but with the right mindset! I think this is how Oliveira won last time, with a different mindset! I think you can smash even the Koreans if you are not afraid of them in your mind, and truth is you are a World Class Champion!!!
The go all the way comments hurt so good now. Everyone is so positive. We know you have the ability to beat these players. Can't wait for next time. It was a good run.
It was so cool to see how your positive energy adapted to a stressful situation like a competition. You always seem so chill on the ladder and I appreciated how you challenged yourself in the tourney. Nice work and tough draw to come up against SpeCial!
If you enjoy prepping, sharing, and playing the tournament in front of watching eyes I hope you continue or do some pro/meta analysis since it's a huge help for me to understand the game. Big props for putting yourself out there. Appreciate your composure.
unfortunate! I noticed: in the games against special you were not focusing on your play, but rather tried to anticipate specials play. I think you couldve won if you just forgot who the guy was and simply do your plan from the beginning
Yes! Thank you I was counting down the minutes to the upload. Thank you for uploading on a sunday! Always what i look forward to most in my afternoons!
The first two game felt like a hold challenge. Poor opponent didn't last very long. Shame the comeback didn't really happen. I think that'd be quite an event in the SC2 scene) Still, my hands were cold during the last two games, I was really rooting for you. Best of luck with anything that you'll plan next) And thx for the entertainment.
I’ve been watching your videos since Terran school, and this by far was one of the most entertaining series to me (closely followed by bong cloud). I’m begging you thermal, DO NOT GIVE UP! I’ve witnessed greatness that was overshadowed by someone with a little bit more experience with the meta….you are more than capable of accomplishing your goal easily if you put more attention to your training rather than to meme builds. I think I speak for everyone subscribed to your channel that we want to see a comeback!!!
18:49 seen you struggle with this (and creep) before, the jumpspots are always indicated with a little triangle, sometimes in red with an exclamation mark. In this case the line around the platform is also 'open'.
Aww, excellent showing Marc, you did your best and I had a lot of fun watching your practice games and seeing how high level play is analysed. Special is a really hard opponent, it definitely looks like he knows you're a macro terran and was factoring that in to his builds. I think he paid you big respect and knew if he didn't take you seriously he would loose. If you feel like doing more tournament stuff, I'm here for it
We're with you all the way. Even with the short lived tournament journey, it's always fun watching you play/comment, which is why we're here anyways. GGWP!
Uthermal: "Should I bring it back? I probably should..." Uthermal: "..." Uthermal: *continues flying the raven to the enemy base to drop more auto-turrets*
The primary reason I watch Marc over other SC2 streamers IS the dialogue. As an uneducated causal player, the dialog and analysis is crucial to the full enjoyment and understanding of what's going on. Keep it up Marc!
Was a pity that we couldn't keep seeing more, for me someone who doesnt play starcraft on a pro level, this serie was very informative and interesting to watch, keep up and dont let it get you. See you on the next video
I went back and watched uthermal games from 4 years ago in preparation for this. You can definitely focus on the game and commentate over the replay or something
Really appreciate the analysis from practice to the tourney. Took me a while to watch since I get second hand stressed out. I'm strictly a spectator(never played wayy too hard), and I enjoy learning about the game but am frequently the person questioning how it can be over based on surface stats. My favorite wtf moment is when a top tier pro Zerg player has 3/4 of the map, 4x the bank, but the opponent is a Terran and the poor Zerg grinds to dust. Blows my mind. Gumiho beat a Zerg whose name I'm forgetting.
Marc playing in a tournament: "I need to defend this. I need to defend that. If he does this. If he does that. He's so good at this. He's going to do this. He's going to do that." Marc playing normally: "Im going to do this crazy strategy. I'm going to go do this. What if I did this instead, then I can win this way. Maybe I'll do this to trick him. When I did this. When I did that." Marc psyches himself out in tournaments. But I get it. He is playing the best of the best.
Hey Marc, curious why you wouldn't build a sensor tower here at 23:12 when keeping track of his army is clearly so paramount? Is using multiple scans better than the tower? Does the tower take too long to build?
32:30 I once made 4 voids 2 carriers and that's all the zerg saw, but the zerg didnt make seem to react to the air units killing overlords and drones they just made spores in the mineral line. I made 8 gateways and 1/1 with charge (oh and hand +1 on voids) then I make my attack and the zerg massed ling bane and i lost the game.
Amazing content. You made me pick up the game again and I went straight to gold (I’m silver really). Against Special, it felt like you had too much respect for him from the start. Could tell you were a bit worried and his contains worked really well. Thanks for the commentary!
Feels like Special was pushing you into your own base when you seem to have more units than he does, giving him all the map control and letting him expand aggressively.
I feel like doing one of your crazy builds, or a proxy or just something so unnatural during matches against pro players would completely through them off and they wouldn't know how or what to counter/do. Love the videos! There is always next time brotha!
Unlucky Thermy, tough to come up against such a strong opponent so early in the pool. SpeCial was on his game with some efficient high pressure builds! It was an awesome journey anyway, enjoyed all the commentary and games - keep it up!
Marc you may not have qualified, but you win at life mate. Sincerely. Keep doing what you're doing. Your videos are so entertaining and motiviating on many levels. All the best brother.
I don't play SCII since ages but thanks to you I enjoy the content. SpeCial was a very hard opponent but even if you lost it was fun to watch. And now I'm going to watch your most recent video ;)
Noooooooo, I want you to go all the way Marc!!!! (or at least much longer than this) You deserve to go much longer, so better luck with the seed next time (as I hope to see you play more tournaments). Thanks for the great stuff!
I would love to see more tournament content for sure. One could see it made you a bit nervous which is perfectly understandable since you haven't been doing "tryhard" for quite some time. But if you did it some more you would get more relaxed and we can see our favorite silly goose shine! And I must say personally I enjoyed the practice content more than the memes
