    Your video saved the day. Took apart the front of ours before remembering how the aluminum sat in it. Great build!

    Nice job. Beautiful results. I have a 1994 Spectrum that was sitting under a pine tree for ten years. I had to gut it also. I found that all the blown foam had absorbed water and was useless. In addition, the interior rails trapped the water in the foam. I had to drill weep holes so the water made it to the bottom of the boat. I also used sheet foam, cut to size, so there was no more water back up. Great boat. Enjoy your project.

    Nice job.
    Advice to others: Soaking the plywood in resin first, gives better protection than paint alone. Use the scrub brush before rinsing away the paint remover and wear protection. Carpets trap in moisture and will rot the wood quickly, better off with just paint and anti-slip on floors.

    • @vraczok
      @vraczok  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's great advice I considered the idea at first but was worried moisture could get trapped in the rivet holes. I figure when the floor rots I'll either redo it using an aluminum floor or the method you described. I hope this lasts me 20 years but time will tell.

    • @ZacVaper
      @ZacVaper 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't use plywood in a boat, there are so many alternatives to choose from these days. If your pockets are deep, StarBoard or Coosa Board; If your on a budget, composite deck boards from Home Depot. I used them once on an old swim platform, to see hold they would hold up in saltwater. No issues and the boards have a different pattern on each side to choose from, straight grooves or wood grain.

  • @patrickpatrick9132
    @patrickpatrick9132 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    What did the deck look like before you started the restoration? I’m getting ready to restore a 1985 Crestliner Nordic. The seats are revived when I bought it and only cover glass deck, no carpet

    Great job, very meticulous! I have a 96 Spectrum Sport and I would like to touch up that paint. The white paint you used on the transom, was it a good match for the original white? If so, what brand and color was it? Thanks!

  • @Francisco_777-r2
    @Francisco_777-r2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nicely done. Can someone please educate me on the need for foam? If the original foam was saturated, it is very likely that the replacement foam will also fet saturated. So why add foam?

    • @vraczok
      @vraczok  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a safety feature. If for example I hit a log and rip a hole in the boat. It's also USCG required for small vessels.

  • @captlarry-3525
    @captlarry-3525 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    lots of great work. I would use all marine ply ( no voids), and then saturate it with epoxy diluted with acetone ( home made penetrating epoxy) with lots of attention to the edges. And then paint. The epoxy will seal it and keep it from rotting. Making your efforts last a Lot Longer !
