- Fluoride has been incorporated into our community drinking water since the 1940's. Although fluoride has many proven benefits for oral health by reducing dental carries, there has been recent research that has brought doubt into the effectiveness of community water fluoridation.
The first study published by The Mount Saini Hospital determines that fluoride may diminish kidney and liver function in adolescents.

The second study, which is perhaps even more concerning was published in the Journal of American Medical Association Pediatrics (JAMA)

In this prospective birth cohort study, fluoride exposure during pregnancy was associated with lower IQ scores in children aged 3 to 4 years.
These findings indicate the possible need to reduce fluoride intake during pregnancy.
Furthermore, Dr. Joseph Nemeth points out that about 4 years ago, the recommendation for the amount of fluoride in the water was lowered from 0.7-1.2 (mg/L) to no more than 0.7 (mg/L). This could be due to a increase in the cases of Fluorosis or staining of the teeth.
Whats even more interesting is even though water fluoridation has lowered the tooth decay rate significantly in the U.S., it hasn't lowered it any more than in other countries who DO NOT put fluoride in water. Foreign nations get their fluoride from dental products or supplements, which United States citizens do asl well, in addition to ingesting fluoride in the water supply.
These two studies are very significant because this brings into question the effectiveness and necessity of putting fluoride in the community water supply. It's going to take a lot more research in order to change any policies, and we are eager to see how these future studies impact government policy.

As a biochemist, I can tell you that the fluoride ion is a powerful inhibitor of many, if not all, cellular enzymes which use magnesium as a cofactor. Many of the housekeeping enzymes in cells, such as RNA and DNA polymerases, require magnesium for activity. It does not surprise me to hear that fluoride ingested in pregnant women causes a decrease in the IQ of their child. The notion of using fluoride in drinking water to reduce dental caries is completely absurb. When you drink a glass of flouridated water, what percentage of the ingested flouride gets absorbed by the teeth? Probably 0.00000001%. What percentage of the ingested flouride gets deposited in your body tissues (liver, heart, brain, bones, kidneys, etc)? Probably 99.9999999%. This is why Europe does not flouridate their water. But when you raise this issue of flouridation in the USA, proponents are like religious zealots. They refuse to listen to common sense, to the known biochemical effects, and now to the known deleterious effects on the body (tooth flourosis, lowered IQ, damage to thyroid tissue, damage to other tissues). Flouride is a well known toxin. Flouride can put you in the hospital if you ingest large quantities. If the justification for flouridation is to reduce dental caries in children, then you are forcing adults to ingest flouride toxin. I would much prefer that the children in this country have more dental cavities with a higher IQ, rather than less cavities and a lower IQ. Cavities can be filled by a dentist in 20 minutes. Lower IQ is a lifetime disability.

I live on fruit starch and sugar. Teeth are fine. Acids are the issue. Pick up any candy and read the label. Always has an acid in it. Also fatty acids stick to teeth and block blood flow at the the smallest of blood vessels feeding nutrient absorbtion to parts like spinal discs, cartilage, joints and teeth.

I drink alkaline water or regular gallon of water...I try putting a filter and it didn't work....I continue having side effects and so I stick with gallon of water...I know is not healthy either but it doesn't give me symptom.

34 years ago, our city had a fluoride leak in the water supply. They never told anyone. We found out years later. My wife was pregnant, and we lost our son at 38 weeks. Interesting, in our local cemetery there is a number of still born babies buried from that time.

You’re not supposed to drink city water they add fluoride because people rinse their mouths out with water. Any smart person would know you don’t drink city water, but fluoride is necessary for tooth health.

I would like to address this: the average adult female lion only lives for 10-15 years (on average). Humans live for much longer than this (on average). Thus, we need our teeth for longer.

Unfortunately it appears that fluoride uptake is easier than the minerals needed for natural repair. Further it appears to be harder for our bodies to swap out for the minerals which are supposed to be there. Fluoride seems to take the place of calcium which may make bones etc harder but also makes them brittle amd less dense as i understand it. I would also suggest that since it is agreed cavities form as a result of the ph around the teeth, that fixing the ph in the mouth would be a better option than fluoride.

Why do I need to Cook my food like pasta or vegetables in Water with it? Why should a person Shower in Fluoridated water? A major impediment to tooth decay is adequate dietary mineral intake. the standard American diet (SAD) is way low on these. Increasing consumption of raw foods helps to increase minerals.
And oral hygiene is crucial also as well as limiting sugar. Cultures where sugar intake is minimal to non-existent have virtually no tooth decay

There is a doctor who claims fluoride makes people fat by destroying their thyroid and making them hypothyroid. As a nurse I do see many many older people on levothyroxine because they have hypothyroidism. Why is this so common and not rare? I Blame the fluoride!
Fluoride and chlorine block the receptors for iodine in the thyroid gland, resulting in reduced iodine containing hormone production and finally in hypothyroidism.
It happened to me. I was putting floride gel on my teeth every night as a child because dentist said to to prevent cavities. I had a goiter by age of 11 and had to have it radioactively burned out. At that point I was put on levothyroxin for life I'm hypothyroid and I'm now 42 and the result of being hypo that long is taking a huge toll on me

I stopped using toothpaste many yrs ago. Since then I only use baking soda, and flouride free toothpaste and rinse my mouth with a few drops of food grade hydrogen peroxide, bought from amazon, and add it to distilled water or spring water.
I even told my dental hygienist to not use flouride when cleaning my teeth., and after that, she always remembered my request. Needless to say, I stopped drinking tap water many yrs ago. I think that Iactually stopped ever since I had been deployed overseas while serving in the military Korea, and the tap water came out looking like muddy water or tea, and also in the Middle East, both places they supplied us with bottled water, and even though bottled waters arent perfect either, but at least theres no flouride in it. I never drank tap water ever again.

Carbon filter will not remove fluoride. It's too small of a molecule. Bone meal or reverse osmosis can remove it.
It also happens in ground water. The diffrence is one is naturally occurring and the other is a byproduct of fertilizer manufacturing. They are not the same.
We tried that in Tampa Florida the government made us put it in the second they found out we voted it out. You are right, they wont change even if its for the best for us. A friend who has since died had multiple types of skin & internal cancers. His job was responsibility for adding fluoride to a town's water supply. There were numerous times he was dusted all over when the bags burst. At the same time he worked in a workshop with a blue type of lighting called mercury. He suffered most of his working life & died before he was 65.
The state map of the U.S. seen at 3:44 is not explained at all, and makes no sense. Fluoride levels in each state are given a category of below, borderline, or above recommendations for fluoride levels. Illinois has 99% fluoridation and is listed as "above recommendations." Wrong. Texas, where there are more water systems with high natural fluoride than any other state is "borderline." Wrong. This is apparently based on nothing, and it's a mystery where this came from.
There are high fluoride levels in some water systems in many states. Hawaii has no fluoridation except on military bases. But it's not on the map. New Jersey is low in fluoridation and natural fluoride levels, but it's not even on the map.
But I appreciate this dentist giving his concern about fluoride. It should not be added to water.
The map was intended to be a visual aid to show which states had different concentrations of fluoridated water. Hawaii is listed on the map and in our video as being below recommendation, as you suggested. Also Texas is very large and has different fluoride concentrations in different areas. The main purpose of the map was to show that different states have different concentrations with most states already being below the recommended amount.

No idea about those studies but I do know switching over to flouride free toothpaste has my smaller cavities healing themselves and I don't get that horrible fuzzy layer of plaque that we're all used to half way through the day. I'll have a read of those studies. Thanks Dr!
Few years ago I had a cavity in almost every tooth. Mt Dew... I stopped the dew and changed toothpaste and 4 yrs later my cavities are gone. I never checked the fluoride content but I bet it was fluoride free
Same for me I switched to fluoride free, natural toothpaste from baking soda, tea tree oil, minerals etc and no more tooth pain!

I have not used fluoridated toothpaste for over 10 Yrs and no dental caries either. My daughter has never used fluoridated toothpaste. She is 14 and never had a cavity. Even tho kids can be less vigilant in brushing. It’s not even covered with delta dental after the age of 12!

My daughter was at the top of her class with no health issues AT ALL...until she started taking fluoride tablets from the dentist. Shortly after starting on those, she was diagnosed with hashimoto's thyroiditis. She started slipping in school, could not keep up on walks, and generally started slipping away, mentally. It was awful. I did not renew the prescription, and did not understand the connection until many years later. But, she developed fatty liver disease before she was 18 years old. Connected? We'll never be allowed to think so...

I'm not a Dr but I found many articles on the internet 10 years ago desribing fluoride as an industrial toxic chemical waste product that was not allowed to be dumped in the ground so it was decided to add it to toothpaste & water. I can't find these articles nowadays. I think this is very worrying
There are two main forms of fluoride in the world today. One type is the natural version of fluoride that is naturally found in the environment, and it is not that harmful to the environment or to us. The natural version of fluoride found in the soil is known as calcium fluoride (CaF2). The other version is an industrial synthetic called sodium fluoride, a synthetic toxic waste that is known to cause cancer.
Manufacturers of sodium fluoride manipulated their data to create the illusion that sodium fluoride is not toxic. They then used this data to convince political leaders to allow them to add sodium fluoride into consumer products, pesticides and drinking water. (You may have heard it said: “The solution to pollution is dilution.” This is dangerous!)
The fluoride chemicals being used to fluoridate drinking water are: hydrofluorosilicic acid, sodium fluorosilicate, and sodium fluoride. Unlike the fluoride compounds found in toothpaste or supplements, water fluoridation chemicals are not pharmaceutical grade quality. They are, instead, unpurified industrial by-products that are collected in the air pollution control systems of certain industries.
Calcium fluoride, which occurs naturally, is not included in the Poisons List. This is because natural fluoride is not very soluble in water. Substances used in the artificial fluoridation of the public water supply are *sodium fluoride (NaF), sodium fluorosilicate (Na2SiF6), and hydrofluosilicic acid (H2SiF6). These artificial fluorides are highly soluble in water.
CHEMICAL TOXICITY
Although the dental community that calls fluoride a “naturally occurring mineral” wants to frame the fluoride/fluoridation question completely around dental concerns, that effort is at the very least disingenuous. Chemists characterize fluoride as a poison. Fluoride is included in toxicology compendiums, and it has been labeled a neurotoxin. Fluoride is more toxic than lead and only slightly less toxic than arsenic. Harvested from smokestack slurry, most fluoride added to our water supplies originates as waste product in the aluminum and phosphate industries. A 2014 study of fluoride samples predictably reported that 100% of those samples were contaminated with aluminum, while lead, arsenic, cadmium, and barium were other common contaminants. The study author, toxicologist Dr. Phyllis Mullenix, wrote, “Aluminum and barium levels approach what EPA finds in electroplating sludge and hazardous soils….”
SYSTEMIC vs. TOPICAL
Even within the dental framework, there is no actual science proving any systemic ingestion mechanism of fluoride that results in dental benefits. Those claims are based on medical hypothesis and dental studies open to charges of bias and selective sampling, i.e. proxy use of Medicaid codes for cavities in a region with known high incidences of Medicaid fraud as input in a simulation to demonstrate that water fluoridation is beneficial to poor children. The simulation output is contrary to Medicaid data from other regions. It is also in stark contrast to real world data from large fluoridation studies in the U.S. and New Zealand that examined tens of thousands of actual children which demonstrated there is no significant difference between cavity rates in fluoridated and non-fluoridated communities.
Fluoride has two sources. It can appear ‘naturally’ in water or it can appear as a chemical toxic waste. Even where it does appear naturally in water, it can cause problems. You have to ask yourself why those industries which produce toxic fluoride wastes are in favor of water fluoridation. To answer this question, you need to follow the money.
Natural Occurring Fluoride
Calcium Fluoride (CaF2) is compound of calcium and fluorine which occurs naturally as the mineral fluorite - also called fluorspar. Most of the world’s fluorine comes from calcium fluoride. Fluorides in general are toxic to humans; however, CaF2 is considered the least toxic due to its extreme insolubility. Moreover, calcium is a well-known antidote for fluoride poisoning. When an antidote exists in combination with a poison, it makes the poison less toxic to the body.
Calcium fluoride is the form of fluoride commonly found in natural, untreated waters.

Environmental regulations were put in place where pollution control devices were set up in order to capture the contaminants, like arsenic, lead, mercury, silicofluoride, and more. Included in the pollution control device is hydrofluorosilicic acid, so toxic that one needs to wear a full body suit and mask to be around it. Hydrofluorosilicic acid occurs from strip-mined rock by the Phosphate Mining & Production Industry. The rock is broken up, placed in giant vats where sulfuric acid is also added to get rid of whatever phosphate (and other contaminants) are in the rock. While the phosphate is extracted, the contaminants used to be released into the atmosphere. This was creating more pollution, and killing animal and plant life. These contaminants are then taken out of the chimneys (scrubbed off with the acid) and stored in “open-air cooling lakes,” which are further exposed to airborne contaminants. (See video)

Industrial practices produce millions and millions of gallons of this liquid hazardous waste. Because it costs these corporations thousands and thousands of dollars per ton to neutralize and dispose of (hydrofluorosilicic acid), they instead sell it to the population as a ‘product.’ How ridiculous is that? Hydrofluorosilicic acid is shipped to your local drinking water supplier.

There is a petition from American University to EPA to prohibit the use of Hydrofluorosilicic Acid (HFSA). This action would simultaneously prevent hundreds of cases of lung and bladder cancer through the reduction in the amount of arsenic now being delivered to our citizens who drink water that is fluoridated with hydrofluorosilicic acid (HFSA).

There are two main forms of fluoride in the world today. One type is the natural version of fluoride that is naturally found in the environment, and it is not that harmful to the environment or to us. The natural version of fluoride found in the soil is known as calcium fluoride (CaF2). The other version is an industrial synthetic called sodium fluoride, a synthetic toxic waste that is known to cause cancer.
Manufacturers of sodium fluoride manipulated their data to create the illusion that sodium fluoride is not toxic. They then used this data to convince political leaders to allow them to add sodium fluoride into consumer products, pesticides and drinking water. (You may have heard it said: “The solution to pollution is dilution.” This is dangerous!)
The fluoride chemicals being used to fluoridate drinking water are: hydrofluorosilicic acid, sodium fluorosilicate, and sodium fluoride. Unlike the fluoride compounds found in toothpaste or supplements, water fluoridation chemicals are not pharmaceutical grade quality. They are, instead, unpurified industrial by-products that are collected in the air pollution control systems of certain industries.
Calcium fluoride, which occurs naturally, is not included in the Poisons List. This is because natural fluoride is not very soluble in water. Substances used in the artificial fluoridation of the public water supply are *sodium fluoride (NaF), sodium fluorosilicate (Na2SiF6), and hydrofluosilicic acid (H2SiF6). These artificial fluorides are highly soluble in water.
CHEMICAL TOXICITY
Although the dental community that calls fluoride a “naturally occurring mineral” wants to frame the fluoride/fluoridation question completely around dental concerns, that effort is at the very least disingenuous. Chemists characterize fluoride as a poison. Fluoride is included in toxicology compendiums, and it has been labeled a neurotoxin. Fluoride is more toxic than lead and only slightly less toxic than arsenic. Harvested from smokestack slurry, most fluoride added to our water supplies originates as waste product in the aluminum and phosphate industries. A 2014 study of fluoride samples predictably reported that 100% of those samples were contaminated with aluminum, while lead, arsenic, cadmium, and barium were other common contaminants. The study author, toxicologist Dr. Phyllis Mullenix, wrote, “Aluminum and barium levels approach what EPA finds in electroplating sludge and hazardous soils….”
SYSTEMIC vs. TOPICAL
Even within the dental framework, there is no actual science proving any systemic ingestion mechanism of fluoride that results in dental benefits. Those claims are based on medical hypothesis and dental studies open to charges of bias and selective sampling, i.e. proxy use of Medicaid codes for cavities in a region with known high incidences of Medicaid fraud as input in a simulation to demonstrate that water fluoridation is beneficial to poor children. The simulation output is contrary to Medicaid data from other regions. It is also in stark contrast to real world data from large fluoridation studies in the U.S. and New Zealand that examined tens of thousands of actual children which demonstrated there is no significant difference between cavity rates in fluoridated and non-fluoridated communities.
Fluoride has two sources. It can appear ‘naturally’ in water or it can appear as a chemical toxic waste. Even where it does appear naturally in water, it can cause problems. You have to ask yourself why those industries which produce toxic fluoride wastes are in favor of water fluoridation. To answer this question, you need to follow the money.
Natural Occurring Fluoride
Calcium Fluoride (CaF2) is compound of calcium and fluorine which occurs naturally as the mineral fluorite - also called fluorspar. Most of the world’s fluorine comes from calcium fluoride. Fluorides in general are toxic to humans; however, CaF2 is considered the least toxic due to its extreme insolubility. Moreover, calcium is a well-known antidote for fluoride poisoning. When an antidote exists in combination with a poison, it makes the poison less toxic to the body.
Calcium fluoride is the form of fluoride commonly found in natural, untreated waters.

Environmental regulations were put in place where pollution control devices were set up in order to capture the contaminants, like arsenic, lead, mercury, silicofluoride, and more. Included in the pollution control device is hydrofluorosilicic acid, so toxic that one needs to wear a full body suit and mask to be around it. Hydrofluorosilicic acid occurs from strip-mined rock by the Phosphate Mining & Production Industry. The rock is broken up, placed in giant vats where sulfuric acid is also added to get rid of whatever phosphate (and other contaminants) are in the rock. While the phosphate is extracted, the contaminants used to be released into the atmosphere. This was creating more pollution, and killing animal and plant life. These contaminants are then taken out of the chimneys (scrubbed off with the acid) and stored in “open-air cooling lakes,” which are further exposed to airborne contaminants. (See video)

Industrial practices produce millions and millions of gallons of this liquid hazardous waste. Because it costs these corporations thousands and thousands of dollars per ton to neutralize and dispose of (hydrofluorosilicic acid), they instead sell it to the population as a ‘product.’ How ridiculous is that? Hydrofluorosilicic acid is shipped to your local drinking water supplier.

I already saw videos years ago about this subject, and can’t find them now. But supposedly the government put fluoride in our water in the late 70s and in the mid 80s made it mandatory that bottled water companies had to add it. Dannon water was the first. Also it was pointed out to us that if you got as much toothpaste as the size of your pinkie finger tip to the first knuckle, you need to seek medical help for poisoning. So if you do the math? Back then I switched to water stores that had reverse osmosis.
My area, which is the Phoenix Metro area didn't start fluoridating the water until 1993. So prior to that year, our water only contained small amounts of calcium fluoride. From 1993 to now it has been both calcium fluoride and one of the hydrofluoric acids or one of the hydrofluorosilicic acids.

Shortly after starting on those, she was diagnosed with hashimoto's thyroiditis. She started slipping in school, could not keep up on walks, and generally started slipping away, mentally. It was awful. I did not renew the prescription, and did not understand the connection until many years later. But, she developed fatty liver disease before she was 18 years old. Connected? We'll never be allowed to think so...
They claim fluoride in water is great for preventing tooth decay but does it really matter if we do brush our teeth? May be only good for people who can’t brush their teeth because they can’t afford toothpaste or for whatever reasons.

Fluoride I believe is a toxic chemical in general and could be lethal in high doses. Chemicals like these being ingested through the human body is never good and will cause damage in one way shape or form and on a number of factors like dosages and quantity over time.

How could you tell if it was the fluoride and not genetic or some other cause ?
What control measures could have been in place ?
How many people were in the study (would have to be a huge number to determine a small variance in a assessment of something so subjective).
Also, IQ testing in adults is imprecise at best… the range in results from the same person can easily be 5 points up or down given the nature of the test itself. I don’t believe IQ testing is accepted among professionals in the field as any kind of solid proof of anything… in adults or especially in toddlers.
Each child is so unique, and their timeline of mental develop can be very broad, and still be within the range of normal benchmarks, thus invalidating any attempt to use it as a measure of their future level of intelligence.

I can understand puting flouride in toothpaste since we normally don't ingest toothpaste but puting flouride in drinking water is absurd.

@@josephbriggs7067 Actually they don't put fluoride in it. However, since it comes from a ground source, it does contain fluoride. It is calcium fluoride. All ground water sources will have this fluoride in it naturally. This fluoride isn't really something you need to be worried about as long as it doesn't reach high levels. Also this is the only fluoride that will do anything to protect your teeth. No other fluoride will. The reason being that this fluoride contains calcium in it. All of the other fluorides don't have calcium in it and will rob your body of it's calcium reserves. So all of the fluorides that are artificially being put in dental products and our drinking water is causing osteoporosis and accelerated tooth decay along with other detrimental health problems. Other countries are putting it in the salt or milk.

My dd had bad white fliruide marks on her teeth and later chose to get the teeth rebuilt (she also had bad decayed no6 back teeth which her dentist delights in showcasing how he had them removed and straightened her teeth instead of normal teeth that get removed) so now she had a lovely smile and good teeth. Anyway she used to have bad eczema and one of the things we noticed is when we gave her filtered water the eczema improved. Could it be connected?

I've heard alot about fluoride recently and I'm just sticking to bottled water...

Lately I changed dentists, and after a cleaning my new dentist applied fluoride via a que-tip, telling me not to eat or brush my teeth for several hours. By the time I got home I became anxious to get it out of my mouth and I didn't want to swallow it because its like my body wanted it out of my system. The dentist assured me it would prevent cavities and, because it was a mineral, a natural ingredient, not only was it harmless, it would be absorbed by my system, resulting in stronger teeth and bones.
What's not to like? What's not to love? Here it is, a sticky tasteless substance that was all natural? Like vitamins, right? You wouldn't spit out vitamins, would you? Are you stupid? Well, I felt like I couldn't get it out of my system fast enough, and I'm never going to have it reapplied. But am I stoopid? Only time will tell. Does she take these supplements? I don't know, nor do I know why I had the negative action I did. I don't even know if the bottled water I get had fluoride in it.
Was I too rushed? I don't want to knock a good thing. But I hated the stuff she applied with the que-tip. I don't ever want to have it applied again, as in ever. What do the studies show?

I think the reason why dentists use or suggest fluoride is purely so it makes peoples teeth rot or damage easier/faster, ergo, the dentists get more work to "fix" the teeth.
If they REALLY fixed your teeth or gave actually helpful dental hygiene advice, they'd be out of the job.
You are correct. All fluorides and fluoride chemicals with the exception of calcium fluoride will cause accelerated tooth decay. It weakens your teeth by robbing them of their needed calcium. The fluorine atom prefers to be bonded to calcium but will bond with various other elements if calcium is not available. Once calcium does become available it will swap what ever it is bonded with to become bonded with the calcium. Calcium fluoride on the other hand will help prevent tooth decay and not steal calcium from your teeth since the fluorine atom is already bonded with calcium. If I'm not mistaken calcium fluoride protects your teeth by coating them in a layer of calcium fluoride.

Floride is HORRIBLE for you. These studies on flouride are not new. Alex Jones pointed out numerous studies to me as early as 2009 and the studies were older.
I came to Malta 2 Month ago and i could feel how i am sowly being poisoned, i thought its the food the chemicals, i felt so bad and lost hair like i am doing a chemo therapy, We buy bottled water for cooking,, coffee and tea and other we drink sparkling water. We ran out of Sparkling so my son took one of those bottles, we had 2 different brands.He said it tastes really funny and i mentioned it to my forster daughter in the UK she said she noticed as well and we both bought from lidl. I checked the levels in the back and compared it with the other water we had. 36x more fluoride in this perticular water. I asked chat GPD and AI said everything t´point to Fluoride poisoning. How do they determin the apparently save levels?
There is no safe level for synthetic fluoride (the fluoride created as a byproduct of the agricultural industry.) Our bodies don't know what to do with that stuff. Naturally-occuring fluoride is different (but I would still avoid it if possible.) Same principle between real, pure sugar vs high-fructose-corn syrup. Iodine/Iodide flushes halides out of the body (fluoride/bromine, bromide/ chlorine) but must be done with care so not to flood the body with too many halides to deal with at one time. Good luck. I'm dealing with similar in Washington state, USA. You may look into mercury toxicity as well. Both of these poisons cause similar issues in the body.

Hey what do you think about sealants? I cannot find videos about the side effects or how to get rid of them when they start wearing out. I wish I never got them because I can’t remove them myself and it’s on my healthy virgin teeth. The idea of drilling in them to remove is absurd for me
Is the sealant failing? If the sealant was placed improperly it would just fall out. Most of the time, there is no need for the sealant to be removed. If you did want it removed, an ultrasonic scaler could be used by a hygienist to remove it. However, I don't know any people who have gotten their sealant removed.
Joseph R Nemeth DDS & Associates there’s only one that looks a little worn like very small chips on the side. The others still look new with smooth surface. Otherwise there were no clear cavity under any of them black/dark grey spots. What started me to research was due to going to a new dentist and she did a quick check up without x Ray and said she had to drill all my teeth with sealants as I have 9! It put me at such panic I went for a second dentist for recommendation and he did x Ray and photos. No cavities under any them or any decay around them BUT he said he could not remove them without drilling.... and putting composite fillings.. it made me question everything because I’d think sealants would be an easy removal. It’s been more complicated for me to find answers removing sealants from a healthy tooth than it is understanding composite fillings, implants, teeth whitening etc. Sealants has been the biggest mystery trying to find information online and in the clinic what to do when they start wearing out a bit. I was told by one dentist a laser and air abrasion would do it. The clinics I went to did not have that so. But i didn’t think I had to go to a clinic with specialized gear as I thought sealants would be the easiest thing to remove even with a rubber bur. But it’s good to know there’s actually a lot of ways to remove without drilling. Because I definitely want the sealants removed first and see if there are decay and then do the treatment plan really confirming there was actually a cavity or something. Than agreeing to drill without proof As there was none so far. Anyways I wrote a lot but that’s how much I’ve run in circles lol! You’re nice to take the time to read and it give me hope there’s still dentists out there who educate and willing to share their expertise. Especially for someone like me who always wants to know everything even if there was gauze stuck in my mouth. There’s a lot to learn in dentistry so! Sometimes sealants make you get more cavities I’ve heard. Don’t drill them out obviously.
I had a dentist made us get sealants and use floride directly on teeth as children. I ended up with a goiter by 11 that they burned making me hypothyroid
