It’ s lovely to see sweet Rinske again! A farrier’s work is so absorbing to watch…one of the things that always wins my admiration is the way that a farrier spends extended periods of time in a controlled squat position, while supporting the weight of a leg, and securing the foot between the farrier’s legs. Wow. Just wow.

Ways to support Yvonne, who was seriously injured in a fall from a horse this week:
Keep the channel going by watching videos with full ads playing. This allows the channel to continue to generate revenue. You can even set the fh channel to play continuous videos even if you are not watching.
There is a gofundme set up- Yvonne Horjus and Family.
Yvonne’s has a PayPal account that can be found in the description under every video.
Keep leaving comments- here or under any video!
Keep giving 👍to every video you watch.
Help spread the word of these ways. Us old-time subscribers can keep new herd members aware.
And don’t forget about merch! If you have been thinking of purchasing from the store, now is a great time!
If you watch the videos but have never subscribed, please click that button!

the knife work with the hammer is genius. Heavy drafts generally have hard hooves so it can look very exhausting when they trim them up.

  • @lovemyferals
    @lovemyferals ปีที่แล้ว +6

Not sure why YT recommended a 2yr old video, but it was really interesting because I have never seen the trimming technique used by this shoer. I'm talking about where he uses the hammer to get the knife to cut. Our shoers hold the knife and pull it towards them with their hands to trim the hoof. If I were a shoer I think I prefer the technique with the hammer. It seems safer and less difficult physically and anything that saves a shoer physical wear and tear is a great thing. It might take more time to perfect that technique, but I like it.

I used to ride as a child in Texas. This brings back memories of being taught to groom a horse and clean out its hooves. At that time all the girls in my school were horse crazy. Marguerite Henry was a favorite, author of Misty of Chincotigue (sp?). I never lost my love for horses. These Friesians are probably the most beautiful horses I’ve ever seen. Their beautifully arching necks and exquisite heads, the way they carry themselves. Why would a king or queen ever want to ride anything else?

I loved the days in the barns, I miss those days. Going to the blacksmith was a pleasure, the goodwill encouraging banter, the smells, the sounds, everything was good. Miss those days. 😊😢

This would be your own feet, if not for the luxury of daily showers, shoes to wear, plus nail clippers!

I live in Alberta, Canada. Welcome Rinske. Perhaps I will meet you someday. You are clearly a wonderful horse. The Netherland’s loss is Canada’s gain. We have a saying here. “You can always tell a Dutch person…but you cannot tell them much”. This was shared with me by the father of a Dutch-Canadian girl that I was fond of, so it must be true. It certainly was of him.

I just watched this. June 15 2023, and I have to say that I am in Alberta Canada. So somewhere there is a beautiful friesian Rinske all the way from the Netherlands! That is so cool! In the video it shows just how well mannered and sweet she is. Also your farrier really does a wonderful job with her, he sure is very skilled and those hooves and shoes looked absolutely perfect. ❤

This is an Albertan saying how wonderful to know there are Reins' beautiful mares here somewhere. I watched the Flying video, but didn't know it was to Alberta!!

This MUST feel great to the horses because they don't mind the banging, filing or anything! As you said though the horses WILL rebel if they're not comfortable. I would imagine that the confidence of this man has a lot to do with how comfortable the horse feels too. Great seeing such skill!!👍🐴
