THIS PATIENT Insisted He Had *PIRIFORMIS SYNDROME* (he didn't)

- 😕The Patient Who Diagnosed Himself
Recently, a patient came in after seeing one of our “piriformis syndrome treatment” videos.
He came in and said, “I’ve had a low back MRI that comes back clean (it wasn’t clean, BTW), so I need my piriformis syndrome fixed.”
After doing an exam, we found a HUGE functional restriction and a TON OF adhesion in the low back.
At the Report of Findings, we told him, “You don’t have piriformis syndrome. You have a herniated disc."
With skepticism, he paid $2,000 to proceed with treatment. At the first treatment, Dr. Chris said, “Look, I know you think you have piriformis syndrome. So I’ll treat your sciatic nerve today and clear it out for you so you can see what results you get from your butt area.”
After 1 treatment, the tiny bit of adhesion that was at his piriformis was removed.
Dr. Chris told him, “There’s nothing left at your piriformis. So treatment 2 and all of the rest of your treatments will be for your low back.”
He decided to discontinue care.
Dr. Chris wished him well.

Hi Dr. if I cant come to Jersey to see you, who and where should I search to go to to get the type of diagnostic service that you offer? I am just like the patient you are describing that everywhere I go, I just got another check off but never heal. I did get diagnosed with piriformis syndrome about one year ago. I still have numb legs but I feel like it’s different causes other than the hip muscle. The sciatic nerve almost never shut off, making me hard to fall asleep. I need help to get out of this torture. Help me and give me some direction to the light please.

This was honestly my problem. As soon as I did research on my pain, I was convinced I had piriformis. Until my PT started working hard on my lower back. And I feel such relief. Currently getting treatment and trying to lose about 15 pounds to help my body heal. I am in North Jersey , do you guys take horizon insurance?
