  • In this video we quickly go over how we're using 1 Quad cortex for 2 guitars in a live setting and what our general patches look like. We also go over how we are utilizing Reaper MIDI commands to automate our patch changes.

    amazing video bro! I love reaper and I was looking exactly for this video. Would you share your reaper set up as a template? that would be really helpful! 😍 thank you

    This video was so helpful, I have no idea how you found the correct cc's to change scenes! any chance you know how to automate the volume or expression pedals too ?

    very helpful vid. at first I was confused why you had multiple CC lanes for scenes (35-42), instead of just using CC# 43 for everything and specifying the value for the scene you wanted...but then I realize having separate lanes is probably easier because you don't need to scroll to a specific value within the CC#s. Can be a bitch to get right on the value number by clicking and dragging. I don't think reaper lets you type in the value within a CC lane lol.
    I may start doing it this way...just need to make sure the QC is already in SCENE mode so that activating the footswitch doesn't just turn on an effect block.

    This is super useful info! I usually use Logic Pro for studio production and was going to use it live for QC midi patch switches and all that, but Logic does tend to crash occasionally. Is there a risk of that happening with Reaper as well, or is it generally problem-free if you're just running a couple of audio files and midi patch changes?

      i am in the same situation. With mp3 files it shouldnt crash. Logic use to crash with the use of a lot of plugins but not with mp3 files

    Hi, I've got one and I made the same automation as you and I realized that when I press play, seems like the QC change lots of banks and scenes until get the right one. I could see it on your video too. Do you know why and how can I fix it? I know it don't compromise the song, but I wonder if it could change the right preset and schen right away at the begining of the song.

    Spent a bunch of time setting up Reaper and the QC the same as you're doing it and it works awesome at home and at rehearsal, but 3 of the 3 times I've used it on stage it has failed 100% of the time. QC is fine, but connecting to the laptop/Reaper has so many quirks that it's impossible to troubleshoot during changeover between bands. Gonna be ditching the laptop/Reaper setup ASAP and look for something more reliable, maybe the OnSong app for iOS.

    Guitarra a quad cortex a PC? Sin interfaz?? Yo no puedo utilizarla como interfaz en mi Windows me da muchos problemas, podrías tomar una foto de tu configuración del reaper con respecto a la quad cortex

    Thanks a lot for the video.
    I have a question my QC always jumps to scene d when reaper Region stops. Do you know how I can force to stay on scene c in between songs where no reaper is paused?

    • @KOTRmetal
      @KOTRmetal  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be a way to set the "default scene" on your QC. I believe you just need to save the preset with the desired "default scene" active. You can check your default scene by swiping up (putting it in gig mode).

    • @patrix_guitar2920
      @patrix_guitar2920 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KOTRmetal yeah I did that. C is m default scene. When I am starting the playback anywhere in the session. QC triggers very fast between 5/6 scenes and stops at scene d every time.
      How do you go from region to region in reaper an what does your QC in that time?

    • @patrix_guitar2920

      @@KOTRmetal in your video at 10:21 your QC does the same thing it triggers very fast between 5/6 scenes before it lands on scene c

      Did you end up finding a solution to this? Reaper seems to send weird midi cc messages when you stop and play a song.

    Just ordered a QC, my band is running reaper for tracks and in ears...connected to our X32 via USB. I'm curious for the automated switching are you connecting from reaper to the QC with USB from the laptop?

    • @KOTRmetal
      @KOTRmetal  ปีที่แล้ว

      we used to, but now we run midi cables via our audio interface (from the laptop)

  • @grtsevert
    @grtsevert 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    We use the same setup, but I'm wondering if you found a way to autosync the bpm as well, I can't seem to get it to work consistently.

    • @BrandonofRedemption
      @BrandonofRedemption ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it go to preferences >Midi and right click your midi device. You can then choose to send clock output.

    • @Shred_Rocket
      @Shred_Rocket 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BrandonofRedemption you might also want to specify to then be able to send CC#44 somewhere at the beginning of a song and QC will accept the command and sync to the DAW tempo.

  • @adrien26ab

    Works perfectly when hit play at the beginning of the song, however as soon I hit play in the somewhere in timeline the controler activates the wrong scenes.. Any help?

    • @Shred_Rocket
      @Shred_Rocket 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure exactly what the issue is, however, in most cases when you send a CC, make sure any CC you program is a short concise 127 burst, otherwise the QC will behave as if the button was being held down too long.

  • @wiguelharo
