    My QC went TANGO-UNIFORM with a recent firmware update. It never came back to the boot screen and was basically, a flashing brick. I contacted Neural Support and they paid for the shipping to send it back for repairs. NO charges for anything and the representative for Neural was outstanding in resolving my issue. Neural is #1 in customer service.

      Me too. Mine was used. They paid for everything and fixed it for free. Customer Service is great.

    I am a 2021 pre-order QC user too. My first move away from valve amps. I love the unit, especially that it's WiFi connectivity allows it to be totally standalone. I use a TA board too, with CIOKS DC7 and use TA modules for power, in and outs etc. including my IEM system. It all just works for my needs and I regularly get compliments for my tone from other guitarists and engineers. Thank you for your channel and content.

    I’ve owned the cortex for about 3 weeks this week I gotta say 15 minutes it took me to get an amp capture and cab and I was playing. It’s amazing and coming from the helix side of things I’m so happy I switched this unit does it all. With the new update changing the tuner to a double click literally made me rip the rest of my board apart and just use the unit. I say this about my unit. It’s literally my best friend. I love it so much.

    I bought my QC last October and your videos helped a lot so thanks man ! It replaced a tube amp and a full pedalboard with a switcher. Its responsiveness to playing and to the guitar volume control is on par with that of a tube amp. I was blown away when a/b testing with my first capture. Looking forward to what neuraldsp will improve in 2024 ! Cheers.

    My experience is similar.The combo of form factor, sound quality, capture capability, and usability makes it the best for me. However, it is behind the competition in customization of switches/MIDI (Helix Command Center is so much better). But still, I prefer the QC. Thanks all the good content!

    Bro thanks for all of the Quad Cortex videos! I too am also a fellow Canadian, which is irrelevant to this comment, but wanted to slip that in there, and coming from using the Kemper for years.. but I've taken a music hiatus for a few years and looking to get back in. I love the sounds I can get out of the kemper with the clarity of dialing in individual string and pick sounds on the profiles (which is CRAZY) and so capable and I miss it BUT... the Cortex is so capable, user friendly, touch screened, sick looper, parallel rigs & inputs, and with the direct USB connection to my computer, I feel like I'd be an IDIOT to not go for this... I'm trying one out at L&M next week!

    About a year ago, I had horrible crackling as well. I took the bottom cover off and sprayed it down with contact cleaner. No problems since.

    Hello! I just exchanged my Kemper stage for a Quad Cortex. I was very satisfied with Kemper, but I wanted to try the Quad Cortex to get to know it. The sound is just as good. I’m learning how to use the secrets and I say that, in a short time, I already liked it. Now it’s time to go on the road and see how she does.

    Because it’s so easy, I too have a separate pre-set for each song. I do have a few base presets for playing common songs outside our normal setlist.

    Great video - thanks for sharing your impressions with the community! I currently have a Kemper Stage, and really wanted to switch to QC but the calculus has shifted all over the place. QC has an editor now and they’re gradually porting plugins, but now Kemper has USB audio and Liquid Profiling …
    For me the biggest differential is the market for profiles, much more accessible in the Kemper ecosystem, I think. I have the Tone Junkie “Everything Pack”, their stuff is fantastic. The creator mentioned countless times how needlessly difficult the QC cloud is for profile creators to sell/share their content.
    Also, do they not distinguish between profiles designed for DI vs into a power amp?
    Anyway, I’m glad to see the Neural DSP guys have stepped up their game recently, even though it’s frustratingly late in the game.
    Kemper has also leveled up, and I’m not sure what to make sure of the argument that they’re using the same basic platform since 2013. On one hand, the QC is more future-proofed and makes the Kemper look antiqued. On the other hand, I think this speaks to Kemper’s longevity, and it’s admirable that they don’t jump on the planned obsolescence Apple business model.
    Ultimately, I hope to get a QC sooner or later. I move around a lot, so a portable solution with small form factor is quite appealing to me.

    So I'm switching from the fender tone master pro over to the quad cortex. Main reasons for me was I was not happy with the tones I was getting with the previous unit specifically towards the high gain tones. There's a lot more choice here but there's also a lot more solid presets to build from that just sound amazing. I have tons of impulse responses from own hammer and bogrine digital and they do sound wonderful on the quad cortex but of course the built-in cab sound phenomenal as well. My only gripe is the power supply and having to use some kind of an external Jerry rig device seems really bad at this price point. I'm going to look into just making a custom transformer that hooks onto my pedal board, that has a regular power cable out... I swear the OEM power supply is made of dental floss. Definitely some good points in your video thanks for sharing

    I love my QC, and I agree with all your points regarding it Dustyn. So much so I'm just about ready to sell my Kemper & Floorboard too. The only downside for me with Neural is how they recently gave away a free amp suite plug-in to anyone who'd recently bought a QC. I'd stumped up the cash and had my name on the waiting list long before the unit was released (I must have been one of the first in The UK to get my hands on one) and it would have been nice if us early adopters had also been rewarded for putting faith in their product. Still, these things happen I guess. BTW, recent subscriber to your channel and really enjoying your content 👍

    The Quad Cortex has been looking amazing for me as a next step into the digital world after using the Archetype Plini plugin for years when playing at home. My biggest worry with the Quad Cortex (and alternatives) is lifespan. All the traditional stomp boxes feel like products you buy for life but with these more computer like products I'm worried what state they would be in after 10 years. What do you think?

    Good video and very interesting thoughts on QC.. Am I wrong or you mentioned the MX5 unit as previously owned? Do you think there is a big increase and improvement in terms of sounds and usability? (I currently own the MX5 and I'm thinking on buy QC)

    • @DCFGuitar
      @DCFGuitar  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The QC is honestly on a completely different level over the MX5. I would still consider if you need the extra functionality/flexibility of the QC as the MX5 is good in its own right

    Great video. I am one of the pre-order Quad Cortex users and have had my unit since 2021. I have also experienced some great support from NeuralDSP when one of the software updates caused some issues using my QC as an audio interface. I find the UI very easy. In fact, although there is now a desktop editor, for me, the unit's UI is so good that I prefer to create/edit patches on the unit rather than on the desktop editor. I have no experience with Fractal, Helix, Tone X, Fender Tone Master or Headrush. My prior modeler was an Eleven Rack, which I loved. I love the QC.

      I do find myself doing the small adjustments on the unit itself and bigger stuff/patch organization on the editor. Thanks for watching 👍

    I recently consider about buying a Quad Cortex or a Kemper as a second processor besides my Line 6 Helix. Do you agree with my thinking: why should I buy a kemper only being able to dial in 4 effects, when I can buy a quad cortex and use several more effects? 🤔

  • @aaronthomas7790
    @aaronthomas7790 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Any more issues with noise? I'm tempted to try it again coming from Fractal. I really wish they had found a way to use traditional IEC for power.

      No issues since my repair, and I didn’t have power supply issues because I’ve basically never used the stock power supply. I’d give it a shot and see if it’s for you!

    This won't be a popular commentary but I truly believe it's accurate. Most of these devices are overkill for what 90% of consumers require. Live music, with real musicians is a dying experience. For the less than 5% of guitarists, who actually play in a live setting, a ToneX at $399 would be adequate. Even for someone who plays in their church band. Tons of venues have bad PA and church goers are not picky about the sound of your amp and effects. for the 95% of other guitarists, who will never see a stage, they can use a ToneX to have tons of sounds at their disposal and mimic many of the songs they want. No need to spend anything close to $1000 or more. Having said that I own too many of these devices but I have the means and I love tech. I don't need it but it's damn fun.

    • @DCFGuitar

      They’re both great from a sound perspective. Fractal is definitely more established and can get super granular but no touchscreen and clunkier interface (IMO).

    Ive been using it professionally in country music for a year now. I tell everyone the only reason i use it is because its small but has a big screen and plenty of footswitches. I also say if i could load helix software in it i would. Theres 2 updates now without new amp/cab/fx models. If plugin compatibility means your gonna have to pay for new amp models then that is a big turn off.

    • @DCFGuitar
      @DCFGuitar  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally! It will be interesting to see what Neural does when plugin compatibility finally comes… they kinda shafted the long term users with their free plugin gift and restricting it to people who just got their QC..
