What's even better with the (normally) inaccessible rooms reserved for cutscenes, is that they sometimes have details in them that are never seen through the cutscene's camera, so that's a nice little detail.

Caught me off guard with this one, thought this was Scykoh's DK64 Upload!
Actually, you can leave this area easily by just jumping in the big window. You'll just pop back out to DK Isles that way, so you're not stuck once you get in there.
Donkey Kong 64 is the best N64 game ever along with Banjo-Kazooie and Super Mario 64.
Honestly, despite the bugs, I loved this game as a child, and later on as an adult. I think it stands up against the sands of time, compared to a lot of games nowadays. Getting 105% was a challenge, but the end was worth it for me.
You only love how busted this game is until you get to the Beaver Bother bonus games...
Then you'll be temped to rip your eyeballs out!
Classic glitch. I used to go down there when I first got the the game and discovered about it in a cool blog that documented all the major glitches back in the day called “Donkey Kong Bonanza”
Cutscenes in the N64 played in real-time, so the rooms they made for cutscenes were stored outside the map as players were never meant to interact with them. It’s believed that this room was stored inside the island simply because it’s a massive empty area so it would save on memory.
Also, there is actually an easy way to get out that room. All you have to do is jump behind the monitors and you’ll clip right outside. No need to reset.
If I remember correctly, you can get out of the room by jumping behind the computers into the windows.
Finding a glitch in DK64 is definitely not a "Rare" occurance.
Ah, yes, back to swimming under the island, as normal.
Man does this one gotta get on Switch already. Never got to see much of the game IRL, outside of watching a friend play it at his place as a teen.
Donkey Kong is swimming like a Magikarp out of water.
You can leave the room without saving and quitting. Just jump between the computer screens and the glass. You can do this glitch anywhere there is water and a slope out of water.

man this game sure was a pain on my childhood... coming from dkc1 and 2 i was a huge fan of the series so this... "gem" did me really bad.
the fact i wasnt able to read back then (yeah i was a bit young LOL) didnt help beat a game where you must understand how to do certain moves and what they do.

Don't know if it was a glitch or not but I remember that if you went into 1st person while crouched you could still throw oranges. Normally you couldn't use your oranges in 1st person because you needed to be crouched to do so and you couldn't use the crouch command in 1st person.
It was fun trying to ambush my friend with this in multiplayer though.
I never thought of this game as buggy since I never really ran into any major issues I would have considered bugs... Then again, it has been close to 5 or more years since I played it last

There is a way out of that room. If you jump up on the panel and jump behind the computers you will be back in a swimming loading zone and able to pop back out.
I love DK64 even though it takes way too long to complete if you aren’t a speedrunner. And isn’t it strange the inside of K Rool’s flying crocodile escape ship is contained inside DK Isle instead of K. Rool Island?
