    When I had increased the travel of mine, i didn’t notice that the o ring had fallen out. I was so confused/scared by the clicking sound, but when I was cleaning up and saw the o ring on the ground, i gave your video a try. Funny how one tiny thing makes such a big difference, it only makes the noise it’s supposed to now! Life saver video, thank you 🙏🙏🙏

    Much appreciated. At my Home Depot the O ring package number was #115, same dimensions. To help fellow riders

    Thanks for the video. I didn't have the clicking noise, but you confirmed for me that the 'pfff' air noise is normal. I upgraded from a cheap coil sprung fork and, while the ride feels good, I wasn't used to the new sounds.

    It works thank you very much. I only use the cheapest washer sold bundled assorted size. I chose the one slightly larger like you said. I knew why it should be larger. It is because the first washer from bottom will get into the internal tube but the 2nd washer should not allow the tube to reach the top part of the air cap. If there were non washer to stop or cushion the impact it will make that sound when it knock the wall or the top section or maybe just because it loose without the missing washer. Just to be cautioned to lock the shock before you open the cap due to shock oil possible to spill out if not careful. Luckily yours in video quite dry, mine is oily. Careful not to over tighten too, it may damage the main washer before the threaded section. My advice any choosen washer should be Valve Washer grade so it could stand air/oil/water pressure standard. I dont think silicone or rubber food grade washer will stand for long. It silence and feeling firm. now i can enjoy listening the bounce and rebound fluid working instead of clunks.

    Worked for me aswell. Looks like the alloy tube of air spring hits the cap with air Valve and that causes the noise.

    I have the same noise in my rockshox recon debonair silver RL...whatever comes stock on the 2021 Trek Fuel EX. unfortunately the cap is totally different. don't see any missing o rings.
    HOWEVER, when I bled out the air. the shocks dropped to the bottom. Since, when I try to replace the air. I get 4 pumps and its up to 100 psi and sags 2/3 without me sitting on it. Any idea what that is???

      When you start to put air in and it said 100psi, compress the fork a few times for it to balance out. Happened to me too.

    Will this O-ring fix work for newer charger 3 Zeb’s? I have a click noise under compression that’s annoying. SRAM told me to take it to a shop for warranty but I’m lazy and would like to fix it myself if possible.

      @ I took the air chamber off today. It’s not exactly like yours in the video. There’s just one o-ring, the one that seals the cylinder off at the top. No lower o-ring and no gap where an o-ring could go. So I dunno. I had a clicking noise. I’m sure it’s still there but I didn’t take the bike out after pumping it back up. I didn’t hear the click again when compressing with my body weight.

    It sounds like it's topping out which means the negative air chamber isn't balancing correctly. Try storing the bike upside down for a bit, it can often help the negative air chamber equalise.
    If the equalising port is blocked internally then pumping the fork up to its max pressure can sometimes encourage it to unblock but other than those two things, the fork needs a service.
    Air forks/shocks need regular servicing to keep them working correctly.

    • @kuchaix
      @kuchaix 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got mine out of the box making that sound but i thought that was normal when you topping out. Everything else work perfect if not topping out. So i have been living with the sound for months until i discovered this is worldwide issue for rockshox recon. OMHO we would easily notice time to service the fork when it doesn't function its features. If it cannot hold the air pressure or jammed lock or feel dry and rough than we knew it needs servicing but this irritating clunks sound is like naturally design defect or bad character of this rockshox recon.

      @@vasthepirate5673 It ok I pulled apart and was a lot easier all it was was locked and I had to fix the screw system ( turned the knob to left so it doesn't stay in lock mode and works well ) so anyone else if you have down hill forks and when sitting on the bike the left one is air and the right one is to adjust the rebound just do turn to far to the right it will lock and make knocking Nosie ) open the rebound right fork from bottom and top turn the screw left till it unlocks and moves all the way down , maybe might be able to do it just from top of fork also but depends how far right you have turned and type of fork Too ... all the best ....

    Do all shocks make that squishy sound?

    • @vasthepirate5673
      @vasthepirate5673  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, but it's not as obvious when you ride vs when you do it while bike stands still like that. I guess I should add there are dif types of shocks... This fork has an air chamber where you can set the resistance by adding or removing air. Cheapest forks are usually spring loaded, where the resistance comes from the spring compression, those will actually be louder and more annoying

    Interesting. I still don't understand what was causing this clicking issue, tho. Do you have any explanation for it? In my case the sound seems to come from fork damper :/ Cheers mate

    • @Thalassisk
      @Thalassisk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The metal air spring tube hits the metal top cap causing the banging sound, so the washer is supposed to go in between the two so that there is no noise.

    • @b-rad4363
      @b-rad4363 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I believe a more proper fix is to remove air, take off air spring top, push the fork down to push the inner air tube up then reseat the tube. I believe the air spring tube moves upward out of it's fixed position in the plastic seal head and needs to be reseated. Worked for me
