    • @larock0wns
      @larock0wns ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it's when it gets round trip - JSX is 'about' 2x the cost for round trip for normal flight and maybe like 1.5x for last minute flights

      The worst part of air travel is the people. If semi-private flying minimizes that at a similar price, that's a win for me.

    I've done private jets when I worked for a race team in NC. Nothing beats showing up 10 minutes before the flight and walking straight out to the plane. No security, No hassles. We'd leave at 3am in the morning and I'd usually be back by dinner on the same day depending on where we were testing. I'd pick it every time over commercial!

    According to JetFleets, the EMB-135s and 145s flown by JSX are an average of 22.7 years old. Not necessarily a knock--they look well-maintained, and airplanes are engineered to last. I would pick JSX if I was going point-to-point, big airline first class if I had to connect.

  • @michelleburns578
    @michelleburns578 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Coming from someone who has only flown first class once, I’d definitely go the semi-private route, hands down. My least favorite part of flying is the airport. I often say if I could wiggle my nose like Samantha and zap myself to my destination, that would be perfect, but only because of the airport, I really don’t mind the actual flights. And bonus points if you get my reference 😂

    I would definitely fly semi-private. I only fly a couple times a year so I would have to pay for lounge access.

    I have seen this company somewhere, probably an advertisement. I will definitely look into it, especially if the prices are close to Southwest prices.
    I'm like you Nate, I enjoy flying. I know people usually find it stressful. I think the key is to plan it out, be organized, and give yourself time to relax before your flight. Also, be friendly to everyone, if you're relaxed and on top of everything its easier to be kind, especially to the flight crew.

    JSX has pretty limited routes, but if one of these was convenient I'd certainly try it. I did notice that each leg is priced individually, so if you have a connection the time/price would almost certainly be higher than a non-stop commercial flight. And of course, the Centurion clubs get pretty crowded, so no guarantee you'll get in during certain times.

    The lounge that Nate was in was because of his American Express Card. Which is different than the first class lounge. The first class lounge is very similar to Kara’s lounge.
    JSX is very convenient for trips that you want to take many bags. Up to 2 free checked bags that are no more than 50 pounds. And a personal item/bag or backpack.
    First class is great for long distances which includes a meal.

Walking into the terminal 20 minutes before your flight, crazy fast security with free food, drinks, snacks onboard beats the lounge experience. Seems like lounging is great if you have to spend hours in the airport in advance of your flight... I'd rather just get there hop on and GO. OK, so I'm late to the party because I must have missed my notification about the video. I checked a couple of similar routes flown by both JSX and Alaska (which - full disclosure - is my go-to airline whenever possible) and JSX seemed cheaper than Alaska First Class (but more expensive than Alaska Premium Economy)...still, not a big difference and certainly a consideration if one wishes to avoid the hassles of navigating a large airport. Sadly, JSX doesn't have any service up here in the upper left-hand corner of the map - although some other semi-private business class companies might - so I will just have to dream of the possibilities...

  • @davidsandri3043

    Semi-private is A LOT less hassle, so slight preference there. BUT - as you were flying into Denver - the tram ride is one of the highlights for regular commercial flights. One time when my wife and I went through Denver, and the tram stopped for (a brief) second or too, I said - I thought only loud enough for my wife to hear - "Ladies and Gentlemen, we will have a brief pause while we wait for some deer to clear from the tracks" -which got a pretty big laugh from my wife - more so than such a lame joke deserved. She told me after we got off the tram that the people behind me heard what I said, thought it was an actual announcement (I can go into announcer voice if need be) and said "Oh my, there's a deer on the track?" - oblivious to the fact that the tram is a closed system SEVERAL STORIES UNDERGROUND. If the deer got onto the track there, we have bigger problems.
    Thanks for sharing this - might have to try semi-private soon. Safe travels as always

    Having flown private and commercial enough times, I can say with authority that the point of a private plane isn’t luxury or amenities, it’s choice. Choice if exactly when you leave and being able to arrive at the airport whenever you want to. Even the most decked out private jets don’t compare with the luxuries you get on an international First Class flight. You’re not immune to delays or mechanicals with private, if anything they can be more inconvenient since you won’t have a second jet you can just transfer onto. If your crew times out, you’re waiting till the next day for sure. For destination pairs which are well served by commercial airlines with regular flights multiple times daily, you’re almost always better off flying commercial. If I ever had the choice of owning my own jet (I always flew someone else’s) or buying functionally infinite first class commercial tickets, I’d go for commercial every time. You cannot beat the backing of that logistics chain for when things go wrong.

    If prices were near identical, I would choose semi private just because it seems like you get to avoid the usual annoying things about flying. The no security, being able to arrive 20min before your flight is a huge plus.

    I would choose the semi private but JSX does not currently fly out of my area.

    Flying with JSX is something I've looked into because you can fly with your dog in the cabin....they don't do very many international flights though so in the long run I'm better off driving as it's cheaper lol

    I would choose the commercial airline experience. I love lounges and the entire airport experience!

    JSX is great! Burbank to Concord makes getting to the Napa Valley super easy!

    Nate - you should have gone to the Alaska Air Lounge - their SeaTac lounges are the best!

    I have checked out flying on jxs but they do not operate out of Atlanta. Hopefully one day they will there probably is a semi-private company out of Atlanta area but I am unaware of it.

    So funny I immediately knew you were at seatac before i saw the ticket clip. Ill never mistake that floor for anywhere 😂 it looks like a prison.

    Semi Private. If flying commercial I enjoy the lounges and flying first class but I would choose less time at the airport every time.

    I have my own plane, I’d choose semi private every time. With that said I love the atmosphere of most airport terminals,it’s the energy, the planes views and the people.

    I’ve been wanting to fly JSX but they don’t fly to Utah. I guess they did seasonal flights to SLC in 2021. Maybe they didn’t get the traffic they hoped for?

    Since first class is the option, then we would pick the commercial first class flight over private! We enjoy the full experience you get when flying commercial!

    I live two miles from the jsx terminal that kara flew from, I've always wondered what it would be like to fly from there but usually fly out from dfw for the savings. It was really cool to see what the experience was like without paying lol I still think I would stick to the big airport experience though.

    I liked both options for different reasons but if they were the same price, and I didn’t have access to a lounge beforehand, than I’d choose semi private. If lounge was included and I had time to kill, than I’d choosd commercial business/first. Anything is better than regular economy 😆

    In this situation definitely semi private. If it was a normal weekend where prices were probably a bit more different and I had lounge access i probably would pick commercial.
