  • This is a quick 'how to' on jointing cement board with scrim tape and tile adhesive. Keep watching to the end for bonus footage of how to joint the corner of the aquapanel cement board.
I always use cement board behind any wet tiled areas that are formed with studwork. Can't trust plasterboard here! Taping and jointing with stiffen everything up because we don't want our tiles cracking do we!
    Thanks for watching

Great tips the washers really make the boards seem so much sturdier.

Picked up the channel seeing you on skillbuilder and have binge watched the series ever since. Shame this is the last upload on the playlist for this part of your self build, but great work, presenting skills and an honest account of common problems us DIYers would expect to see. Shame the algorithm never picked you up as you're far better than some I've seen with millions of views!
Onto the main property playlist 🥳

great info. did you seal the aqua panel before tiling? if so, what with? I will only be using regular tiles from 10cm - 15cm square, for a domestic shower enclosure. :)

I actually tanked it before I tiled (the kit included a primer before the tanking product). If you're not going to tank it you can just tile straight onto it but they do get quite dusty so wipe it down with a damp microfibre cloth. I've tiled straight onto it before without any problems. Otherwise you can prime it with SBR. Here's my tanking video (I always tank showers) th-cam.com/video/KGQAIe2APnk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sV3s87o2iQJjZrnJ

How much of a gap did you leave between the panel and the floor, 3mm? I’m just about to put some in this week so this helped a lot thanks

These ones were from Travis Perkins but I've got previous ones from Wickes. Do you mean over the plastic panel joints?

@@Chris-uu6dg you've got it. Doing the joints with scrim and adhesive is to provide structure not to waterproof. I've got a tanking video too if it helps 👍

I thought it was a silent K too - but their technical department do actually say Knauf

It's just awkward to say with the k. I suppose the Germans don't find it weird 🤷‍♂️
