Model X was so popular in Norway in the beginning, due to being one of the first EVs that could really tow at all. Model S didn't allow for it, in the beginning. It still has a really competitive rated towing limit here in Europe!
Been Jonesing for this one since I saw a few quick clips of the X towing in another intro to one of your videos. We have Plaidington's twin (except for a yoke) so we're a little biased but, typical OOS video with the good, bad and everything in-between. Yes, there's power for days with the Plaid but glad to hear it's relatively compliant with towing its max weight and the whole team created a great video. Thanks Kyle!
On our 2016 MX, it prevents you from disabling Trailer Mode if the weight is large enough. Our 2700lb RV is heavy enough to prevent disabling. A half empty 4x8 U-Haul utility trailer is fine to turn off trailer mode.
My 2016 MX doesn't prevent me from disabling Trailer Mode with my travel trailer that weighs in around 4000+ lbs. I'm surprised it's different than yours.
I'd love to see how the regen on the cybertruck does at equivalent gross weight. Could be a good indication of whats going on behind the scenes with the regen limits. I anticipate Tesla will improve the vehicle dynamics, including regen, on the cybertruck over the next 2-3 years as more data is collected.
Considering they have improvements to the charge curve coming soon, I think the regen is potentially limited for the same reason. Hopefully it improves over time like you said
Why not just build a charge cable extension cord and solve the pull thru issue for the most part for now. I thought I saw them on aliexpress. Easy build
wow! mine has never predicted accurately with anything I've towed, though all I've towed save for one trip are various sizes and shapes of cargo trailers.
My "Legacy" P100D also comes up with humorous explanations for what is following us, but later versions of the software do a decent job of filtering it out altogether.
that AP thing has been in there for years at least on legacy, I'm not ready to try that since I'm still on warranty and the scare stuff they told us back in the day about towing with an aftermarket hitch without first getting the towing software. I have had two phantom braking events while towing, but my car has rarely had phantom braking less than a dozen incidents ever that I can recall.
18:51 A front charge port does not solve this problem either. You're a vehicle with a trailer, you can't just pull in with a trailer sticking out 20 plus feet into the parking lot. That's not a viable long term solution. EV charging stations are designed fundamentally wrong. They should have been built like Islands, like every single gas station in existence. They decided to save money and now it doesn't scale.
I was on some wash boards in my Model Y just last night. The NVH was absolutely horrible. Was getting the drum feeling from the tailgate, the car was super bouncy. I was super disappointed
Hello Kyle, I'm going to be getting a Model X in the near future. I'm going to be towing from time to time, and here's a question that I've asked Tesla for which they had no answer. To me it seems logical that the tri-motor 1082hp configuration in the Plaid would be more efficient than the dual-motor 600hp. What are your thoughts?
I get the feeling the factory aims the headlights just a bit too high. I get the occasional high beam flash with standard beams. That and newer cars of all makes use bright LEDs now.
It can't be stressed enough to NEVER use Autopilot while towing. Ever. For any reason. Regardless of how 'on it' you think you are.....NEVER. You are risking your load, your life, and the life of others on the road.
Having Alyssa and Jordan on those cameras is quite a one-two punch! Great video Kyle!
Norway seems to have a lot of pull through style charging stations watching Bjorn's videos. USA chargers should be designed similarly
Cant wait for EV9 Ring run
Pretty awesome. Seems perfectly fine for towing. I can't wait to see the EV9 rustic ring test.

Supercharger Towing: The supercharger layout should be like the Baker, CA Station. Massive PV above all pull-through stalls.
Where’s the Rivian rustic ring? Moving on to suv before finishing trucks?
I wish there was a 120kWh version of the Model X. That would be the ultimate road tripper!

Kyle love your enthusiasm and excitement, oh and youth :) love your reviews all of them
what a legend reversing with a trailer and holding a coffee all in a work day for Kyle
Kyle, love your channel. 5thany chance you could share your ideas on a 2014 electric smart car i am looking at. Thank you.
How is the rear tire wear on long Trips (you mentioned that you did a 1000 mile stint at another time)
Have you done a model Y towing video yet? Curious how it would do.
He mentioned early on in this video that he will try that one day with a lighter load than this
Wow, still snow on the ground. Y'all film this in March/April?
Yeah, this was filmed quite a while ago.
ABC...always be on the Rustic Ring!!!

3:33 why?

I'm getting to that age where I see that new tree near the concrete and the building causing issues with cracks and shifting
I tow with my Model X, was one of the reasons for giving up the Model S
that part the efficiency and infrastructure

Amazing 😮
what exactly!? a 1020hp vehicle that can barely tow 5000lbs while a diesel similar bmw x5 with 260hp tows over 7000lbs WTF!!!!
Cool
real ones watched the gopro time lapse at the end
Model Y next please. Same trailer with an atv or deck mower or something I suppose.
More Rivian content please

Tesla really needs to implement offline maps. At least it should cache your roadtrip of you enter it in the nav
Agreed.
Would be a great option and you could maybe use a USB stick to save all the maps as the on board computer probably can’t save everything.
"Felt nothing" - that's what she said 😂
actually felt the range go down lol!!!
Which would you keep, Model X Plaid or Rivian R1S 2nd Gen?
Rustic ring sounds too much like rusty ring, did a double take first time Kyle said it!
You've got skills, keep honing them

I just moved into a trailer park and started watching NASCAR. I think Teslas are out of the picture for me, for a while.
Naw, perfect time to get a 2013 Model S with free charging!
@@ALRinaldi - I don't think the Tesla would blend in too well. UNLESS maybe I put a bunch of NASCAR stickers on it!!! YES!
Hopefully Tesla will implement steer by wire in the next Model S and X
it will change nothing lol!!!
👍👍
Compares an x to a hummer. Of course he does.
Now this is the kind of stupid stuff I love to see! Making dreams come true
So auto high beam is the reason Teslas drive with high beams on in the oncoming lane? It’s extremely annoying.
I get the feeling the factory aims the headlights just a bit too high. I get the occasional high beam flash with standard beams. That and newer cars of all makes use bright LEDs now.
If Tesla has such great thermo management why was there no Tesla at the Pikes Peak event this year. Only EVs were Ford and Hyundai

Towing is about suspension and tires not about power so no point in redoing with a non plaid
Dual motor vs Plaid for sure!!!!!
its quite a surprise to me that a 1000hp Ev can barely tow 5000lbs while a less than 300hp bmw x5 diesel tows over 7000lbs, crazy crazy!
Wdym it towed it no problem no power limit
@@mcsike7264 can you actually read? did i said it had a problem towing?! what is wrong with you people?!
@@mcsike7264 those 400hp diesel trucks that tows about 20,000lbs+ compared to the 850hp tesla!
Now talk about the 0-60mph acceleration times.
@@alanmay7929 Yeah, you said it "can barely tow 5000lbs." Nobody else is seeing that. What is wrong with you people?!
Tesla is great
not when the 1000hp tesla tows 5000lbs while a bmw x5 with 260hp tows over 7000lbs lol!!!
I'm back I was muted for 24 hours cas I say the truth about everything
Talk too much before so I skipped most or it mute Fast forward... No music in dead periods on road.. ;-(
