I'm on the PRS customer SPAM list, so I got the announcement on Tuesday during my lunch hour. Then I got the email from Japan, Band-Maid News (fan club) at 5PM (quittin' time!) making the same announcement. I watched the interview and Mincho is such a sweetheart, almost in tears with pride, showing this beautiful guitar with her name on it. She's earned it! I checked online and found it at Sweetwater (still available at that time, but I did not buy it!) and I wasn't really surprised at the price since I figured that 95% of it was obtainable through a private stock order at a comparable price. But it will be a major collectable with her signature on the backplate and the lightning bow truss rod cover. Congrats to all who obtained one; you now own a unique collectable. Only 200? I'm thinking this run will be sold out by the time I post this comment. Kanami really picked a handsome finish for this one; green is "Her" color and the Trampas Green Smokeburst on the quilted maple looks superb. The PRS finish is what you're paying for, along with Kanami's personal touches. I'm kicking myself for balking at the price. But If I had bought it, I would have played it, and likely worn her signature off the backplate! I was a little surprised that the 85/15's were her choice of pickup, but at second thought, 85/15s are a PRS standard and Kanami's rig is set up to generate her tones with those pickups, so why choose other pickups? Last thought: My Congrats to Kanami Töno on Her Guitar, it is as beautiful as she is. May she play it for many years.
Hi SJ, same situation from Japanese dealers, their listings sold out really fast. Ikebe Gakki had 2 listings and was gone several hours later. Even though it's expensive, it's so worth it for Band-Maid fans to get Kanami's Signature guitar over many other PRS guitars you can get. Congrats for securing one from Sweetwater 👍
I'm really shocked actually. I expected them to sell out but didn't think it would in less than 24 hours. I'm sure there still some available SOMEWHERE but finding them won't be easy.
Same in HK. When I saw PRS post about the guitar, I called the local dealer. They said they'll inquire about it and get back to me in 2-3 days. I had a FOMO moment. A few hrs later, I went to the dealer myself and paid for it. Any longer and it would've been gone. Btw, anyone know what's the time of delivery? My dealer says any where from 6-9 months.
I thought that because the big U.S. retailers quickly sold out that they were sold out everywhere. There are still some out there for folks who spend some time hunting, though. 😉
As mentioned on the video, call or DM the signature vendors on the website!!! It's really hard to guess where the 200 are being allocated. It sounds like the vendors are still figuring that out themselves. I was able to find a vendor that was allocated ONE that hadn't been posted which I've reserved. Best of luck!!!
Was so happy to watch the video and see Kanami's pride and joy in receiving this guitar. This is a limited edition, but it'd be nice to see a regular production run of Kanami guitars someday. They would probably need to be different than these in order to maintain the cachet of the limited edition guitars. Just spitballing here, but I'd love to see a run of an exact copy of the 35th Anniversary "Angry Larry" red Custom 24 that has been her main stage guitar for the past few years (including adding that funky tone knob). You can find a lot of used 35th Anniversary Custom 24s online, but I haven't found a single one in "Angry Larry" red.

The price is quite similar to PRS 10 tops which is surprising as this one has quite a few extras that you'd see on some of the more custom one-offs PRS does, a stunning instrument for sure and a collector's dream. I wonder if they'll be making an SE version later like they did with the Tremonti especially since it sold out and the global fan base would make it a massive success. Since PRS does a good job at getting similar figured veneers for the SE (rather than the full quilted cap of the full custom), they could make a good lower cost version of this with some basic downgrades. The SE Custom 24-08 Quilt in Cherry Burst is a good starting point and that goes for under $900 so you could make it with the details and sell for around $1100-1500 which would be a steal.

I am praying that PRS will make Kanami's Signature model available later on a custom order basis. While I would love to have one of the first 200, I would take getting one that had all of the features except her handwritten signature and a super quilty top. Plus if they offered it in Red and Violet burst it would be even better, as the majority of my guitars are Red.

so Kanami is using about 6k on pedals. then the 4-5k amp and 10-13k on the private stock guitar. I guess band maid is doing pretty well for those price tags hehehe.

I just found out that the person with Kanami at the talk show was Mr. Takumi Samejima who is the guitar teacher of Kanami's guitar teacher. When her guitar teacher introduced Kanami to Mr. Samejima (7-8 years ago, I guess), he was surprised to see her because he already knew Band-Maid on YT😲 Kanami went to buy her first PRS guitar (green one) with Mr. Samejima.

Not only is it a very cool thing for Kanami, she created a beautiful and truly useful guitar, which isn’t always true for signature models.

Went to my Guitar Center yesterday, including sales tax it was 6800 on backorder.
I can't help but wonder how many were bought simply as investments by people who can't play the guitar. Kanami is worth every penny ! ❤️🤔
Not sure it's interesting as an investment only. PRS second hand prices drop much and Kanami is not a legend ( she's one for us!!!).

The back plate looks custom heart shaped. Probably have to make one yourself if you can get an unsigned replacement.
