The new buck eye buzz bait looks exactly like the buzz baits I have been making for years. Some people probably don’t know but that style buzz bait comes from a spinner bait wire form. Get you some hidden weight 1/2 or 3/8 oz spinner bait heads and buzz bait components, add a couple of bends and BAM the perfect buzz bait for 1.50. I use 1/2oz and med. size blades. They are absolutely beautiful. The hidden weight is perfect for holding a strike king frog (jr). Ok now my secret is out.
Swindle’s buzzbait frame-I’d argue that where the bend is placed upon “stress” (i.e. hookset, fish fighting.) the hook point orients at a slight angle down, buring further into the fishes mouth and/or/preventing the likelihood the hook will backout or get thrown. JMHO
Ned (zman trd) is incredible. Not always my favorite thing to throw, but it simply catches fish, all the time. Lots of smaller fish, but the bigs eat it also got my best (6l#) on it
Really like the look of the new Yamamoto worms but very excited to get my hands on the new Berkeley Nessie. It should be a killer on Headwaters Lake in Florida!
Custom made/custom painted lures by local lure makers or mom n pop companies are the best choices! If you make custom lures, I support you! Thank you for doing what you do.
@1:28:15 Zman 1-3/4 inch Micro GOAT, Love this a potential finesse jig trailer, probably going to try it in Bama Bug on a trimmed Berkley finesse jig in BR Green Pumpkin, cold water killer!
Hellgrammites bro. Say it like hell-gram-mite. Those baits work extremely well for smallies up north, I used use them when I lived in Ohio kayak fishing rivers & large creeks. They just need to be small 1.5-2.5 inches. Black or dark brown only color you need. Fish on small texas rig or ned. I moved down here to southern SC about 2 years ago now. I haven't tried them down here now you guys bring them up! Not sure why? I'll have dog them out give them a try around here
So the bend in the wire is his purposed to keep your plastic under the water a little bit so it runs a little truer if you're plastic is too close to the top of the surface of the water like a toad this design I believe would be best use with some kind of paddle tail or a craw guys have been bending their wires to tweak their buzzbaits for a long time is something that has been brought over like JDM style I guess
You should check out Core Tackle's TUSH swimbait jighead. It's very interesting because the weight is in the belly of the bait not at the nose of the bait.
I have a problem with people who complain about companies using other existing lures. Either it will survive or it won’t. Can’t think of a big company that doesn’t have a “senko” 🤔
It's obvious you've never created something from the ground up using your own creative will and hard work because I doubt you would feel the same way. We're talking about a VERY UNIQUE lure here, not "Senkos".
@@jstnpmxagree 100%. Small companies spend countless time and money on RnD just to have a giant company rip off and mass produce their bait. A lot of the time it’s not because these JDM companies “Won’t produce for the US”... they are just small and don’t have the same resources. Would be way more ethical for these US brands to at the very least partner with the small company so they both benefit ie Spro and KGB
@albow4oops5 So you're saying that if someone came along and stole your original design and sold a worse version of it for profit that you'd be OK with? BTW, I'd love to see your original carvings and molds :)
I have two of the z man hellraizers. I have not fished them extensively because my go to is always the Choppo, but I’ve had some bass swipe at it. It looks pretty good on the retrieve kind like a snake or rodent wobbling back and forth and the blade really thumps a lot. You can snap your rod and it darts around on the surface like a shad skittering but I still have the most confidence in the popping sound the Choppo has.
I don't know if it works better down south (the hellraizer), but up north I just think you are better off with a rizer bait if you are trying to imitate skittering baitfish.
Small baits are excellent. I'm usually throwing really big swimbaits or mondo worms or super small baits. Everyone throws standard sizes. The fish see really big & really small baits aloooot less!
Get mustad kaiju inline circle Hooks pinch or file barb and replace all trebels If you are not incompetent fisherman you'll catch as many or more fish and not have to worry about damaging fish, yourself, your friend, other Lures etc anywhere near enough. Just the speed of removing hooks from fish and snags would give you a huge time to fish bonus
Thanks for not using the words Knock off. Love the breakdowns and thoughts. You and CJ are a great team and fresh breath to the fishing pod cast world.
The Buckeye G Man buzz looks decent. What type of buzz do you guys like? At certain times I like a clacker, a loud clacker like the Boogerman. Other times I like a finesse buzz like the D&M slow roller. Man you can creep that thing at pretty slow speeds to get those lazy or pressured fish to bite.
I always thought Yo-Zuri made some really good quality jerk baits. And I always thought of Strike King as a cheap brand because of those Walmart spinnerbaits.
What your guys top 3 lakes to fish in OH excluding Erie. I love Erie but it was on opposite end of the state from where I lived my entire life before moving. I had a 3 places that were my favorite & 2 of them were small lakes only allowed electric motor boats or kayak, canoe's
Huh well I guess I need to go out and actually throw my Nessie then - got it from Berkley rep after talking about my muskie on the cull shad - didn't realize the launch was so far away.
The “hover rig” and the “T.U.S.H.” (the ultimate swim bait hook)Johnny Shultz and Matt Stefan have out from Core Tackle are both going to be huge players this coming season. They both work great! I’ve been using the hover rig all summer with a lot of success.
Ok, I am 36 minutes in. I disagree with the no new jig invasions . Look at all the jig tiers who pour, paint, and tie jig heads. Also, the hook can make a big difference in choosing the style of jig head. One newer jig head that comes to mind is a grass jig heads. Heavey wire, heavy weight, heavy wire hook. Enjoying the videos ty. Please keep them coming
Nessie is actually ok. The hook mechanism is great, and the 7-9” are 💣..the 5” would be good for schooling fish and just let it fall -for a while- then burn it in, should get bit on the fall (which is very slow so be patient, the bait does have its place..but for the money- I’d buy a pack of flukes for school fish. The 7”-9” are real nice, they swim great, the just kinda wrinkle and fold even when you keep them straight. The Flag is overrated. Out of the raid Osakana slide, the flag 170, and the nessie… the flag is the hardest to fish. The Osakana is 🔥 I wish there were more sizes both bigger and smaller. The ultimate swimbait in the little creeper trash fish..which is IDENTICAL to the Berkley sick fish. When they stopped making the big sick fish 5-6 years ago out came the Trash Fish. So go w berkley if you need a smaller swimbait( the sick fish) and when you want to upsize.. throw the little creeeper trash fish. That bait is super duper underrated
I have 3 of 9" nessy's on preorder . Interested to see how they fish. Seen multiple videos on them. If they truly fish how they looked in the vids. They should be really good! My 4 biggest largmouth on glide baits this year have been 9lb 3oz, 8.6 - 8.05 - 7.4. Thats just from mid June to a few weeks ago. Had an even bigger girl jump off a few weeks ago which still hurts!!! She had to be 10-11 lb range from what I could tell my seeing her jump just 12-15 feet away from the Kayak. I hope I can trick her into biting again! I've gave that spot a little break sense & will try with different glide next go around. Bass fishing has been awesome for me down here so far. Surprisingly see less kayaks than in Cincinnati area? Good for me I have most my places to myself!!!
People can bash Berkley all they want. They should ALSO research through bass lure history, and see just how many lures were based on other lures. Lunker Lure made the offset buzzbait blade, now almost everyone does it (even though Lunker Lure has the patent). Bomber had so many companies copy and modify their Model A, they didn’t care any more. Heddon INVENTED the origional topwater walking bait, the Zara Spook (look at the virtually identical copies of THAT one!). Heddon invented the hollow plastic lipless crankbait, the Sonic. There are countless attempts to repeat it. Tom Mann added scent to a curly tail worm that HE invented, the Jelly Worm. In short, if it does anything different, has any difference whatsoever, then it’s just continuation of the business history.
I was fishing a buzz bait the other day and the 6th fish I caught had a crawfish in its mouth. Do I switch to a jig or stick to the buzz bait because I know that is working? Would matching the hatch have caught more fish? Or does that tell me it doesn't matter what I'm using that day? Thanks for all the videos, you guys are great 👍🏼

You could literally use only this (at least in clear water) and always do great. It truly beats any other bait most of the time
It seems too eaay
My son throws it constantly, and almost always beats me, while I try a bunch of of jigs, Texas rig, cranks etc…
The bend in a buzz bait is to get the bait to ride lower in the water. It helps the fish to inhale the lure easier.

Found them on a saltwater trip and have used them for years. Great baits!
