Not like real to me, because that the illumination of the miniature place isn't like the sunlight. The Atmosphere of the sunlight has a unique looking. But as you said, If they would be simulated a sun where top of miniature world, it can be seemed a real landscape.
That is why I love 80’s and 90’s movies where they created elaborate models to sell the illusion. Better than modern CGI imo ☺️ Just look at a movie like True Lies where The Florida Key Bridge blows up.. you can find the featurette here on YT. Very interesting!

Give them some time, and they will get around to it. They got access to the same level of building across the canal, and have already built a bridge that still meshes with the old building style. So they will have more than enough space to continue expanding. They'd never have jumped through all the hoops of German bureaucracy if they didn't plan on expanding massively.

His buildings were built with a solid cardboard surface covered by meticulously cut and placed wooden match sticks. Each piece was hand crafted from the tiniest painted wall to the rivers which were lightly painted mirrors embedded in the paper mache ground cover. The trees and bushes were authentic. The buildings were small towns and painted as businesses with wooden sidewalks. There were tunnels through paper mache mountains, tiny gravel roads and extremely miniature animals.
