FUN FACT: Creating backstories for regular bands with real humans was quite common back in the days. Especially if the band was a "high concept" band. So what Gorillaz did was not that out of the ordinary for a band. It was actually expected.

Ok but seriously, I’m my opinion this is the best form of murdoc and the rest of the band. The way Murdoc acts is perfect. It’s him, and it’s funny, and the animation is PERFECT. I wondered that, haha. They basically used this segment to trash MTV Cribs and its shitty pop-culturalism right when we were in the thick of reality TV, and I loved every minute of it. But I always wondered... HOW DID THEY GET AWAY WITH IT? The staff must have had a huge sense of humor to get it, and give it the green light. That, or they were asked to do an episode of Cribs and they made this, sent it in, and MTV was like 'welp... yep, this is it' hahahahahahah....
I love the way this was edited. So grungy, random, weird and all those camera angles were hilarious 😂 the music used were absolutely perfect 👌 and the fact that they only gave 2D, their most popular member, was only given a few seconds. What a way to diss the fans and making us want more of 2D. As a whole, this video is very “gorillaz”. Love this!

FUN FACT: Creating backstories for regular bands with real humans was quite common back in the days. Especially if the band was a "high concept" band. So what Gorillaz did was not that out of the ordinary for a band. It was actually expected.

Ok but seriously, I’m my opinion this is the best form of murdoc and the rest of the band. The way Murdoc acts is perfect. It’s him, and it’s funny, and the animation is PERFECT. Like please take a second into how well this was made. It may be 10 years old, but it’s still some of the best animation I’ve ever seen.

I just noticed that in the credits Alberto Mielgo is credited as one of the animators for this. Alberto Mielgo was responsible for pitching the original designs for the Spiderman: Into The Spider-verse movie and is the creator of Love Death Robots's "The Witness" short. This all just clicks since his style is very reminiscent of Jamie Hewlett's. Amazing artist.

I wondered that, haha. They basically used this segment to trash MTV Cribs and its shitty pop-culturalism right when we were in the thick of reality TV, and I loved every minute of it. But I always wondered... HOW DID THEY GET AWAY WITH IT? The staff must have had a huge sense of humor to get it, and give it the green light.
That, or they were asked to do an episode of Cribs and they made this, sent it in, and MTV was like 'welp... yep, this is it' hahahahahahah....

I love the way this was edited. So grungy, random, weird and all those camera angles were hilarious 😂 the music used were absolutely perfect 👌 and the fact that they only gave 2D, their most popular member, was only given a few seconds. What a way to diss the fans and making us want more of 2D. As a whole, this video is very “gorillaz”. Love this!
