Trigger finger release surgery 1 year post op DEALING WITH SCAR TISSUE

  • One year trigger finger release surgery update results is pretty much a 95 percent range of motion, which I am thankful for. The finger will still tend to curl if ignored and still needs TLC to straighten out and bend fully inward.
Time will tell as the Dr. is telling me it's a scar tissue matter at this time.
Thanks for watching and work safe!

I am worried because after the surgery (20 days) my middle finger stay bent, stiff, swollen and painful. I am doing therapy in a center and my house but I don’t see improvement. This video tells me that I am not alone, I’m going to buy the joint jack to relieves my finger. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and giving your advice. Good look.🙏

The joint jack saved me big time. I used it every evening for nearly a year. These things can definitely take more time to get back to full range of motion than anyone thinks.

I had my middle finger left hand done 8 weeks today. I've been so worried since my finger is stiff, feels off, and can't make a full fist but watching these videos and seeing comments feel much more at ease. Guess we're all trying to rush with an instant fix but it's slow & steady. ❤

It really does take time and patience, along with rehab work.
We go our entire lives without hand and finger tendon problems, then boom, we have damage. I guess I took them for granted, something I shouldn't do.
Now after lots of hammer, crowbar, prybar, and sawzall work tearing down 2 sheds, my right thumb tendon is snapping open and closed.
Seeing a hand surgeon will be my very last resort.

I'm a long time guitar player and had the release surgery done on my left ring and pinky fingers about 8 weeks ago. I have similar stiffness issues and do the same thing on my steering wheel. The two knuckles remain very sore and I get soem strange sharp pains every once in a while. The worst post-op effect is that sometime I can be doing the easiest picking up of something small and light and I will get a nerve jolt through my whole body. My OT says its probably swelling tendons on the nerves, but shes not certain. I didnt expect the recovery to take so long and seeing that you are still not 100% after a year is concerning! I can play guitar agian, but I dont have the stamina I had even when they were triggering.

When I absolutely could not straighten my finger two weeks after surgery, the surgeon all but insisted I go to a hand therapist. He claimed if I didn't....I may never get that finger straight. It all worked out after 6 weeks of therapy twice a week, and using the awesome finger joint jack every single night for 6 months. It has 100 percent range of motion now.

Hi, I’m going in to have the same surgery on both hands. But my surgeon said that Dypetrends contracture can occur post surgery. It seems like that’s what you have now. The good news is that you can have an enzyme injection to release that scar tissue and to relieve the contracture that you seem to have. Just thought I’d let you know

I broke my pinky finger in a freak bike accident, had 2 k wires put in. one by my last knuckle (near fingernail) got infected. It healed with hardened scar tissue underneath the skin, on the knuckle. It's now a permanent "lag"/trigger finger, with a bump of scar tissue and the inability to close my finger fully like in your video here. I also can not straighten it out, not even close. Wondering if I should have even agreed to the K wire surgery...
Wish my hand therapist had given me the finger(joint) jack you have. looks exactly like something I need. the overnight splint looks very useful as well. mine is "hooked" like you said yours would be had you not put the splint on at night

Ryan, go to amazon and search "finger jack splint", the type I was given is imo too much money, 80 to 100 dollars. There is a decent looking one for about 12 dollars but is shorter requiring you to place it directly over the joint, but looks like it would work.

I had trigger finger release surgery from the VA about 5 weeks ago on my right 5th digit. (pinky) I am able to bend it about 80% to the palm. I still have redness around the surgery and it is still tender. My main issue is my other three fingers. They are becoming numb and tingling whenever I raise my hand above my shoulder for more than 10 minutes. When I wake up in the morning my hand feels almost completely numb. I don’t understand why these fingers are being affected. Thanks for the update. It is helpful to know not all release surgeries are as successful as they say.

I hope you got your feeling back in all fingers. On mine, when I got the injection 2 months prior to surgery, my middle finger was numb for nearly 3 days. He shot what looked to me like a lot of cortisone and I think it put pressure on my nerve keeping it numb that long.

I hear you. My surgeon is absolute tops, and he never discussed anything post op either. I think this is because every single person will have a different outcome and the doctors don't want to get into all the what ifs, but rather handle each patient as the time presents.
In my personal experience of three injections and one TF surgery and two CT surgeries, anything with the tendons, sheaths, and pulleys, takes time to heal (could be weeks, could be months).

Five weeks after my surgery (both middle trigger and carpal tunnel), I still have discomfort when stretching the finger straight and curling it in fully. I can however get the finger mostly straight which I think is thanks to exercising the fingers regularly (repeadedly opening and closing the hand daily).
