As a variation of Lesson 3, I'll add this: even if you do everything right, sometimes things can still go wrong. That's why probability distributions have outlier data points 😉 Life indeed isn't fair. And nobody promised you that life would be fair. It sucks when the unfairness hits you, and sometimes there really aren't even any good lessons to learn, so all you can do is pack up and move forward. Not because that's the cliché thing to do, but because there is no alternative.
You are amazing! Been data scientist for 4 years, I could totally relate to your life learnings. Never lose your cool vibe, wish you were my dinner partner
Thanks! You've returned to us! Very practical advices tho. PII is being hunted down by companies nowadays. I almost know that web basically knows my address, phones etc. But not giving up just in case.
I want to make videos more often - still working on my time management skills 😅 there are a lot of things people can easily find out about you, but definitely still ways to protect your info. If not from companies, at least from individual people accessing it
Hi! I don't plan on making a video on this in the near future (sorry about that!), but I'd like to shoutout this super helpful time series forecasting video by CodeEmporium: th-cam.com/video/_ZQ-lQrK9Rg/w-d-xo.html. Hope this helps!
Hello Damsel, This video was absolutely phenomenal! I especially loved listening to your ideas around privacy and protection of information. You should share a part 2 to this series. I am currently working in finance (holla, fellow math degree holder) looking to make a transition into something more related with data. I have been following your advice with your previous knowledge to teach myself coding, SQL, etc. Do you have any advice that could help me with my goal?
Thank you so much for the kind feedback - glad you liked the video. I think you’re on the right track by starting with Python and SQL if you want to transition to a more data-driven role. Advice I would give is to browse through job listings and find examples of roles / work that seems most interesting to you. Highlight the skills they ask for, learn them, and do projects that can wrap all those skills into a demonstrable package. It’s a good way to find focus and guide your learning to keep it on track.
@@damselindata Thanks for your input. That was going to be my next question. Do you have any resources for project ideas? Or do I just use my imagination to come up with some interesting ideas for a project. I find I get stuck in finding ways to practice my new knowledge.
@@manuelruiz6140 I think the best projects are the ones that you came up with yourself because you will be motivated to work on it and make it awesome! Is there any question you’ve wanted to answer with data before? Any app you e wanted to build using data from an API like Twitter, Google maps etc.? If you don’t have any ideas, you can get inspiration from Kaggle.com. Also tons of great TH-cam videos and blog posts giving ideas for data science projects
Very insightful video even for us non Data Scientists, thank you. I wonder if you have a different perspective or advantage when it comes to use your channel data to look for sponsors... feels like it comes in handy to be a Data Scientist :P
Hi! I have a video breaking down everything you need to know about learning data science: th-cam.com/video/dJfh-hCJ5F8/w-d-xo.html And also an older / similar video specifically about finding a job in data science: th-cam.com/video/nSzLMenLFos/w-d-xo.html Please let me know if you have any follow up questions in the comments of either video! Good luck :)
Hi Damsel. I'm 26 years old student on IT engineer in Venezuela. I don't have much money to take an IBM certification in data analyst. What I see is in 365 Data Science they offer career track certificate in data analyst and is less expensive to me to pay for that. Do you recommend take this? its a good one? Thanks a lot for the answer! have a good night! PD: Sorry for my low english grammatical skill :-S
365 Data Science is a great program, and is very popular among the top data learning options. There are many reviews of it online on many different websites (Quora, Reddit etc.) Read the reviews to see how it matches up with your career goals, they are all very informative :) Thanks for checking out the channel and good luck!
oh shaking your fists in fury is certainly warranted in some situations. I'm a big fan of it myself!! Happy you liked the lesson and thanks for checking out the video! :D
Great video! Really enjoyed your thoughts on the subject. Very practical advice. I'm curious, what's the most difficult or impactful problem you've solved with data science?
Most difficult and impactful (and most fun) problem I’ve solved is a bit nuanced to explain and doesn’t sound all that exciting, but it was using machine learning to automate a part of an international payments process during my time banking. Maybe I’ll make a video about it one day - the project was very unique and interesting :)
