And while I enjoyed most of his music, I never really raved on his songs like I did with various other bands at time, but his voice was always what stood out to me, it always left it's mark and impression. More so to this day, very easily. This guy sang from his very soul, listen to him sing. Very few come anywhere close to the level of passion and sincerity which you can easily hear in his singing. Just watched the Ronnie James Dio documentary on showtime and it was quite revealing. He was an unbelievably cool dude, and a truly good man. And that voice! I never understood the draw to him when I was younger, I thought he was just a goofy nerd for his obsession with rainbows but, this documentary really opened my eyes to how beautiful of a person he truly was. Though I've been hooked on his music from the first time I watched the movie Iron Eagle. His contributions to metal is at least as much as anyone or any band. And his durability as a rockstar is virtually unparalleled. RIP Ronnie James Dio.
The documentary was good.. but it was also disappointing and misleading. The complete omission of Vivian Campbell was ridiculous.. but to be expected from Wendy “Dio”.. who is basically a fraud. She not only had a boyfriend for the last twenty years of Ronnie’s life.. and had a child with another man.. She also remarried a year after Ronnie passed. But still uses his name and portrays herself as the “grieving widow”. I find it odd how none of that information found its way into the supposed “official documentary”.. or how Wendy herself omitted all of that when SHE finished writing Ronnie’s “autobiography”. Or how it’s never mentioned in the rock press when she’s doing interviews shilling for any of the numerous reissues of Ronnie’s work, or live recordings that she’s released since he died. She makes Sharon Osbourne look like a saint in my opinion.
@@Riffking69 I was not aware of any of that. Considering the many many terrible things that many individuals are capable of, and the many horrific things that many actually perpetrate, I'm not exactly shocked. I suppose I wasn't necessarily speaking to the overall quality or accuracy of the documentary, I suppose I was just previously unaware of the character and spirit of Ronnie and was glad I came to understand how special he really was. Some are generally good virtuous individuals, some not so much, and some are truly evil.

@@horsthooden4600 don’t Forget Halford and Dickinson
totally agree, I had the luck to see him in a concert around 2004, that was the best concert of my life, DIO was the best live performer I have ever seen, he even sounded better than in studio records, he played lots of songs from rainbow too, like gates of babylon, it was fantastic.
I know it is an unpopular opinion, but Dio was a better lead for Black Sabbath than Ozzy. Ozzy was still great though.
This song doesn't slap, it punch you right in the guts, like if the time didn't move during the song.

I've heard from Iron Maiden, to Judas Priest, Helloween to even Danzig. Dio just had the best voice of all metal
Not to offend the legacy of R.J.D., but to me, no one beats Rob Halford in his prime. More of a metal voice though, but his range and articulated tonal power, dayummm! 🔥🤘🔥 Glenn Hughes "The Voice of Rock", also is top-3 to me, although he's more in the classic rock/hard rock camp.

Ever heard of 3 Inches of Blood? They did a song about Dio called Look Out. Good shit look it up.
@@tgcid2018 I haven't, though I will certainly check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.
No beard No tattoo just his amazing METAL voice Rip DIO
My Favorite All Time Rock Singer, saw him several times! When I was signed to JIVE/RCA Records we were staying at the same hotel and became friends with the band. Hung out a lot with the band, I became good friends with Viv & we would jam at the hotel after shows.
Funny Story, they had 2 dragons on stage and 1 kept breaking~It was a Spinal Tap Moment For sure. The Singer ChainSaw hung out with Jimmy Banes and would come to my room and raid the mini bar…..I guess that’s 3 stories and there’s so many more. I felt totally blessed to be part of it! London has many stories while I was there more than once!!!
Hope he is good in heaven! Killing the dragon while on a silver mountain, catching a rainbow in the dark
