    The most impressive part in my opinion was how towards the end of the fight where Joshua had to go for the knockout, usyk knowing this, took huge risks and got incredibly aggressive and threw a lot of punches, not giving Joshua a chance to knock him out and even close to getting a knock out himself. Incredible stuff

      Joshuas corner were telling him he was ahead so he never went for the knockout. If he did Usyk is so technically superior he would’ve sparked him at that kind of opening.

    Perfect assessment fromPeter Fury as usual. I watched an interview with him before the fight and whilst most trainers, fighters and pundits were predicting a tough fight but tipping AJ for the win, he was very clear that Usyk was a serious threat. and that it could go his way. One interesting thing I noticed when replaying it (for the 4th time!) is that when Usyk had AJ on the ropes in the closing seconds, following a barrage of punches there was an interval of several seconds before the bell in which Usyk stood back and AJ stared back at him with no defence, like a lamb ready for slaughter. It looked for all the world like Usyk, knowing he had won the fight, was allowing Joshua to finish the fight on his feet. Knowing the kind of guy he is, that would not surprise me. Maybe one day we will find out about that.

      So what trainner is going to get Joshua a win there and with what tactics? BB some the trianner nonsens. The basics are hand speed , accuracy and movement. There's no tactics that can nullify that at heavyweight. I heard people say " Joshua shoulda muscled him and leaned on him" how can he when he got hit every time he was in range. Usyk hurt him early , Joshua couldn't just bum rush him. Joshua did well to stay in there , it was terrible match up for him.

    AJ just seems to really struggle to react and change approach when he's under pressure during a fight.
    He couldn't outfight Andy Ruiz Jr, and he had to take the defeat before he could come again and outbox him in the rematch. He couldn't outbox Usyk (and it was a crazy tactic), and he soon became resigned to the fact that he was going to lose. Now, he has to come again and outfight Usyk. For me, he should take the approach Fury took in the second Wilder fight. Now, I'm not saying it'll be as simple as that because comparing Usyk's boxing skills to Wilder's is like comparing a Michelin star chef to a champion of a hot dog eating competition, but I can't see what other choice/chance Joshua has!

AJ is nothing more than an over hyped cash cow for Eddie Hearn. AJ looks great for the sponsorship deals etc etc but when it comes to raw boxing ability, AJ falls well short. I was lucky enough to be at the fight last night and what a clinic Usyk put on. A true master of his craft.

AJ has had to graft to get where he. He is a very good fighter, it's just that Usyk was better. There's no shame in losing to him. And calling AJ overhyped diminishes Usky's performance

  • @robnewton3368

    Usyk when asked still says there’s more to come. I can see the overall game plan in not revealing too early on how good he is. He didn’t want to be avoided by the best. You certainly get the feeling that he and his team know something the rest of the world don’t. He wants to be seen as the underdog.
    AJ will need a completely different mindset and probably new trainer in the rematch. It may work in AJ’s favour if it’s held in the Ukraine - less expectation and pressure.
    But then again Usyk in front of a home crowd may want to put on a demonstration?

    • @robnewton3368
      @robnewton3368 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eddie Hearn & Roy Jones Jr have said as much. AJ will have to change something but in doing so Usyk (as hinted at) will also respond to that change. So having that capacity to adapt effectively, having those tools in the locker could see AJ facing a similar result in the rematch.

    • @DudeSilad
      @DudeSilad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aye, needs a new coach I suspect. But I don't think AJ can change that much. He needs to go hell for leather and try and knock him. All or nothing. He's never in a decade of sundays learn how to bob and weave whilst coming out of a crouch and firing off 3 or 4 quick shots. Might manage it for 10 seconds for the first few rounds but then what would Usyk do? He'll just back off, wait for him to blow himself out and land a few himself. Nah, just can't see AJ winning a rematch.

    What better opponent to lose to and learn from than Usyk... Aj will only improve. He doesnt have the same upbringing as most of these fighters... he will have to unfortunately learn on the fly unless he gets an elite trainer who will embrace his rawness and grit... the AJ last night was like a tame puppy, AJ has got it in him... he needs to clear out his circle.

    Chisora took the fight to Usyk and had AJ pressed in a similar way I think he would have won; AJ Is a superior talent to Chisora. I wonder if AJ was sitting back on the rematch clause wanting to see if he could outbox Usyk - and clearly he can’t but would have learned a lot. I’ve heard AJ say on many occasions that he is in this game for the long term and therefore keen to learn and grow. I was surprised to see AJ try and outbox Usyk; this rematch clause, which seems to be used more and more frequently, makes it all a bit too comfortable for the belt holders and title fights few and far between for other fighters ready and waiting for their opportunity. Great win for Usyk but I doubt AJ would have fought that fight without the rematch clause.

      It's only natural for all of us to support our contrymen in any sporting contest - but if it's any consolation I do like to remind people that Oleksandr Usyk is a once in a generation talent. In boxing terms he's like Roger Federer back when Roger was in his prime years. He's insanely stylish, consistent and an all round likeable guy too. But you know something? Both Usyk and AJ are ornaments to the sport. AJ is bitterly disappointed right now but he can bounce back.
