How to Disable FAKE SOUND (Adaptive Sound Control) on the 2020 Honda Civic Si

  • The 2020 Civic Si's Sport Mode plays extra engine noises through the speakers. Honda calls it Adaptive Sound Control, but there is NO MENTION of this anywhere in the owner's manual or any sort of brochure for the car.
    *UPDATE: PRL Cobra Cold Air Intake Install and test drive: / watch
    v=YKjTUBLPrB8
    * Use Shine Armor for your care care products!: www.shinearmor...
    Why would Honda add this to the Si but not give us a way to simply turn it off in the settings?
    Well, I took my glove compartment apart and found the Adaptive Sound Control module and unplugged it. It worked. No more added engine sounds in Sport Mode!
    I hope you found this helpful!

Just yesterday, when I had it in "Sport" Mode, and I was doing some spirited (post break-in) driving, my Wife was like, "What IS that SOUND?" (she didn't like it...) I explained the module - and the effort to get it disabled. She's not in favor of digging around in the dashboard like this. But kudos to you taking on the challenge and succeeding!

    @ag14012 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Beware!!!
    Thanks for posting, been hoping to see a fix for this annoyance since I got the car in 2020. I just tried the fix which worked for the sound issue (!), BUT(...and this could be my mind playing tricks on me) I feel like, after about an hour of road testing with this mod performed, the additional Sport Mode functionality (tighter steering, tighter suspension, better throttle response) was reduced or altogether gone. Gone to such a degree that I plugged this cord back into it's module and will keep it plugged-in. Feel free to test for yourself. Just take a look at just how many wires are incorporated into the clip that is needing to be unplugged for this mod; I imagine this clip does more than just sound.
    I have put this car on a track (Autobahn in Joliet, IL) in the past and plan to do again here soon so I certainly don't want to lose any performance. Again, thank you for this post, but I think I'll either learn live with this annoying noise or I'll keep my hopes up for finding where the actual microphone is so I can disconnect that and ONLY that from the whole formula. Is there a video for that?!

    • @wr1ght939

    You are engaging the clutch too soon after changing up from one gear to another. Not giving the revs enough time to come back down to meet the next gear. Rev hang sucks. Give it and extra half a Mississippi and that camera jerking around should stop. Good to know how to shut off the fake noise thank you.

    • @jamesreilly3058

    • @omitence
      @omitence 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      eh that’s the thing with these cars, if you want to shift anytime soon you’re going to experience a mild jerk. the revs hang way too long between the ecu added rev hang and the dual mass flywheel

    • @Camhill182
      @Camhill182  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      James Reilly thanks man. Im still learning how to drive this car. I had a 2000 Corvette 6-speed before this, and there was almost no rev hang, so I have to get used to full throttle shifting with rev hang again. Its obnoxious how much rev hang is on these new civics. I think I might test Hondata this week and take rev hang off or reduce it by a lot

    • @jamesreilly3058
      @jamesreilly3058 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cameron Hill that is a nice thing to be able say. “ I just came from a corvette “
      I’m currently driving a Toyota Yaris manually and when I change gear in that car I have enough time to shave while I’m waiting for the rev hang to descend. It’s ridiculous, but, it’s not I sporty car, I know. This year I will be getting a new car and the Si is a front runner at the moment so I’ll probably be engaging the clutch too late when I start driving it.

    • @Bazoo-1968

    Good research and good job.
    But you were probably thinking about Adaptive Cruise Control when you typed that title. It's actually "Active", not "Adaptive :)
    Now please send me that module. My 2003 Civic EX 5MT is only 127HP and I want it to sound like it's 205HP through my speakers. Hehe:)
    P.S: my opinion on what one of your upcoming projects should be:
    Ever thought about replacing those shiny chrome strips above the doors with black ones? (if they're available in the aftermarket.)
    Ideally, ones that match that body color would be perfect, otherwise I think matte black (i.e, not glossy) would blend in nicely with your car's color. At the very least, they would match the color of the strips that line the bottom of the windows. You can do a little experiment simply by sticking some black masking tape over the chrome strips to see if you like the look. Again, it's just my opinion/personal taste. These types of things are always subjective.

    • @Camhill182
      @Camhill182  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It actually is called Adaptive Sound Control. Honda has it listed as such under the specifications of the 2020 Si on their website. I thought it was Active at first, too.
      Yes, I do plan on replacing the chrome with something. I would like to wrap the car eventually too, once I get monetized. So we’ll see what I end up doing with the chrome

    the 2020 civic facelift "upgrade" touts quieter cabin and more sound insulation. the reason they are doing this is for you to be able to hear the engine enough to shift properly is what I imagine their idea was. however everyone likes natural engine noise better, and if you have an exhaust upgrade youll be able to hear it just fine. definitely would recommend disconnecting this cable.

    Could this ASC system be installed on a non-SI European Civic Sedan 1.5 CVT? SIs are not sold here in Spain and the truth is that I would like to have an engine sound in my car without having to change the exhaust pipe or similar things. I would be interested if it is compatible with my car, buy the ASC system from someone who sells it. Thank you!
