Hi Sammie,,, boil up the trouts head , clean off all the flesh from the jaws, dry them out for a few days in the sun, then glue them back together,,, shark jaws yeah they look,,, trout jaws,, they are wild looking, when i worked on boats we did all sorts of this stuff to pass time at sea haha,,,,
If I had more time I’d definitely give that a crack! They would look epic I’d say! 🍻🍻

I went out with bigcat November 2022. Gee, the service was outstanding. We caught a heap of Doggys, GT, and a heap of different reffies. A trip Ill never forget

Did a week on the Swains every year for five years and never saw one dogtooth come in. It's a great place but but nothing like it was half way through last century, old photos from the area show dories filled with a ton or more of trout all in the 5-10kg size or bigger caught trolling over the shallows.
Really? We saw quite a few doggies this trip. Missed a few nice ones as well!

@@SammyHitzkeFishing We fished on the Kanimbla, a similar vessel to the one you were on. The fishing was great but nothing compared to the fishing I experienced in the far north when we were living in Daintree, that was at a different level.

Great day of fishing and beautiful weather. Are those fish as big as you any good to eat? I find your channel fascinating because I have never been to the ocean. With my failing health I doubt if I will get to ever see the ocean. Have you ever been pulled off the boat by a really large fish?

Hey Sammy, doing a swains trip on big cat reality later this year, any tips on numbers of lures to bring? Stickbaits, poppers, fish traps etc. Was thinking around 10 of each, more stickbaits say 15 sinking, 10 floating. What do you recommend? (Or anyone else that's been!) Cheers
Hey mate, it’s a bit of hard question that one sorry. As long as you have a good spread of everything you should be fine. The problem lies if one thing is working and another isn’t you will naturally burn through more of that tackle and not the others. Also if you have a crazy day you can lose a lot of gear! Sounds like you’re on the right track though 👍👍

I went august/September 2021 and we bought home a 20kg bag of fillets each, it's an awesome week away.
Yes you take your own rods, tackle etc but the guys do have some gear on board to purchase if you need to restock
Mate do it! It’s a hell of a trip! No prime time, bad weather can get you any time of the year! You take your own gear on this one as well 👌👌

I fished there in 2000 few times got green jobfish at 120m at 25kg was insane with 150gram raiders on 50lbs spiderwire TLD 25

Seems to be the only way people can catch anything off the Capricorn Coast is head out 300-400kms. SFA inside that.
Awesome fish get caught every single day, particularly where your from in Yepoon. My suggestion for you would be if your not finding good fish, change it up and try something different.

That Swains is alive what a top spot, you'd want to keep yer shit together going out there in your sail boat though, especially at night, 400 k's out and there's rocks poking out the water, dangerous spot for yachties, which is about the only way I'll ever get out there

Yeah of course it does! The goal definitely isn’t to lose fish or gear for that matter. It’s just one of those things you have to accept though if you want to do it.
Thankfully fish are outstanding resilient and quite the masters at shaking lures and hooks out 👍👍

Sammy, you exaggerate somewhat. Even due east of Mackay its only 387 klms. At your claim of 400 you are well outside the Swains.
My apologies Edward. I did exaggerate. It was 388km as the crow flies from where we left port at Burnett Heads in Bundaberg. I simply made the assumption that we burnt the extra 12kms making a few turns along the way to avoid the southern reefs and rounded number up 👍👍

How to know you have too much money. When you are throwing around $100 lures over coral reef on a $1000 rod and reel set up. Just dumb.
Why is that dumb? I like the challenge of trying to land hard fighting fish in tough conditions. Some people spend $3-6k on a set of golf clubs or a mountain bike, some people spend 100k on a sports car. I buy good quality fishing tackle. Everyone has their own interests 👍👍
