Moisture is fondants worse enemy. I remember my nephews wedding, the hottest and humid March in 20 years. I had 150 cup cake toppers, each having 5 components. I made them three weeks before hand and were well set hard using tylose powder to aid the hardening process. Five days before the wedding the toppers went soft- panic!! I left them in their open boxes in our office with the air conditioning on for three days before they reset. I wished I had known this little tip back then… would have calmed my anxiety- so thank-you for sharing this tip!
Thank you so much for the wonderful oven tip...it really works...I had made a fondant rainbow and wanted to dry fast and your tip actually worked...thank you so much..
Make sure to mix that in and start a few days early to make sure it dries. You can still try it in the oven with no light... I have just never tried it that way
Yes! If having trouble with humidity then add a little more tylose powder. Once they are dry an air tight container should hold them a few days. Or just laying on a rack for a day or 2 until ready to use.
Hi! I just started working with fondants, im glad i came across your channel! But im wondering where can i rest the fondant if my oven doesn’t have light?
If you don't have an oven light you can still leave it in there or out on the counter. You may just need to give it a little longer to dry. Hope you enjoy the channel and let me know if you have any other questions 💜
I have a countertop I can cut on so just be aware of your surface when using an exacto knife. You do not need a silicone mat to roll out fondant. Just make sure your surface is clean. You can use powered sugar, corn starch or I personally use Pam cooking spray with flour. I spray and then wipe away excess
I tried this and this really helps but my concern is after using the powder in fondant how to remove the powder from the outer layer of your shaped fondant because it doesn't looks good on your shaped fondant
I wish I had seen your video before I started. Can you please tell me For mermaid tail cupcakes will they work with just fondant 2days out from birthday party or do I need to scrap and start again.?😭
Yes, the tails should be dry in 2 days. Still keep them in the oven with the light on. Once dry they can sit out. Place on cupcakes when serving or when customer comes to pick up
Hi👋 you can use lemon extract or a food grade alcohol (I use everclear) on a brush and go over the areas with corn starch to get rid of it. I spray PAM with flour on my counters when I am rolling out my fondant. Spray some on and then take a paper towel lightly over the area. Hope this helps, if not let me know 💜
When i use tylose ,my fondant dryes and cracks, what am I doing wrong? 😢im going crazy.i tried to make a big bow but after 3 times still the same problem.
Hey! Thank u so much for this tips. Works wonder for all of us. I have 1 small question: After adding tylose powder to the Fondant & once it's hard I can feel it's hard yet i i can change it's shape a little not much though vry little. Is that correct? Or it will be rock hard?
I am making mermaid cake on Friday for my daughter’s birthday Saturday. So once I make the whole cake with tail already on cake, should I put cake in fridge? Will it mess up once I get the cake out Saturday morning?
I will try this because even with the powdered my toppers were not stiff .. Question okay say I have cake ready to go should I put fondant tooper on and stick in fridge ??/or just wait last minute and add decorations before pick up ?
With gum paste you don't have to use tylose but it speeds up the process. You can use fondant and tylose... Depending on your weather it may take a little longer.
I made small butterfly cupcake toppers and I had 3 left over and they're still hard but all the ones on the cupcakes just melted... what did I do wrong? :(

@@PrasannaKumar-kv7th So you want to cover a cake with ganache then fondant and simply wanted to know how you would then store the cake right? (I'm curious myself now as well lol)
Hello there. I’m new in making fondants. Now I know why mine melted the last time haha Just wondering, the one that you made can still be eaten? Or just for decor? Another question, do you also put tylose powder to your rolled up fondant for covering the cakes? Mine melted after an hour it was taken out from the fridge 😅
They might be hard but they can still be eaten. I don't use tylose powder when covering a cake with fondant. Once a cake is covered in fondant you don't have to put it in the fridge. Fondant will sweat when it comes to room temp from the fridge
I've heard people put their oven on a very low heat and put their fondant in the oven for about 10 mins it will be soft even it comes out so dont touch it but then within about 30 mins it dried rock hard so great if u want a figure that isnt going to be eaten but for show etc
I live in the Caribbean, and my fondant is always melting, especially with the oven method. I get good results with a few days opened with the air conditioner on until I'm ready to use. Or once I have tylose or cmc I use a really generous amount.
You can use just regular fondant but start a few days ahead of time. But still stick it in the oven with the light on. No heat. It will dry... Just take a little longer. Overnight is usually good. Just be gentle with it
@@mehreenaleemuddinabbasi once covered in fondant the cake can sit out. If it is. Covered in buttercream with fondant accents, it can go in the fridge but it is going to sweat while it comes to room temperature

Absolutely! If it's hot and humid make sure you give it extra time to dry

Caking at Midnight omg thanks for the quick reply. Im from the philippines. What is pam?
PAM is a non-stick cooking spray. The Pam that I use has contains flour in the spray.

Will it melt if it kept outside after its dried up...
It shouldn't melt once hardened but if warm enough it will melt. Keep out of the sun

will they dry in the oven without adding the pinch of the powder?
Yes, it will just take a little longer 💜

Is it crack after a while ? How long we can keep it without any problems or cracking it ?
No, it doesn't crack. It will keep for a long time as long as it isn't exposed to extreme heat.

I will try this because even with the powdered my toppers were not stiff .. Question okay say I have cake ready to go should I put fondant tooper on and stick in fridge ??/or just wait last minute and add decorations before pick up ?
Toppers I usually wait until pick up to put on. Especially if I am trying to get it to harden and need it to stand up for awhile on its own
Gumpaste ends up adding up.
I gues tylose is better abd last longer

Hey I’m new to fondant. How do I Stick the fondant toppers to my buttercream cake?
With toothpick
How long does this harden fondant lasts ?
Should last a long time as long as kept away from moisture but I've never kept anything more than a few days.
I made small butterfly cupcake toppers and I had 3 left over and they're still hard but all the ones on the cupcakes just melted... what did I do wrong? :(
The moisture from the cupcakes can soften them back up if left long enough. Don't put on the cupcakes until the last minute and then keep refrigerated
Oh ok, thanks! :)
Same thing happen to me 😩😅
@CakingatMidnight will keeping the cupcakes in the fridge with toppers make them go bad?

Yes! Might be super hard but edible
Can I add an edible image before it sets to dry? I need to place images on the fondant and then cut out a border
You can do that. Or lay the image on it so you can cut out the shape, let dry and then attach image.
Hi, so much fun. Will the fondant Harden without the tylose if left out for a few days?
Yes, fondant will dry naturally over 24 + hours. The tylose just speeds up the process

Wonder if it works w/o oven light??? Maybe I can sit them under a lamp? Thinking out loud! 😁

You can definitely use it for toppers also. They will soften back up if left in the cupcake container too long
Hey, would this work in very humid cities?
My fondant decorations wont harden even when left to dry for 24 hours..
