- Sorry this video again took a bit longer, hopefully I'm back into a better schedule. In this video I take a look at the DUMBEST console rumors you've probably ever seen, and also talk about the Switch Pro, Xbox 720, PS5, and PS6.

In this stryxo youtube video I talk about the dumbest console rumors, I also talk about Halo, Switch Pro, PS5, PS6, wii 2, wii phone, xbox 720, and gamecube portable. I also touch on rubberbanding in racing games, like Forza and most likely Forza Horizon 5. Also just to add on but I can't wait to play Spider-Man 2 and God of War Ragnarok on the PS5, that just got revealed at playstation's showcase that they had. The thumbnail was taken in Minecraft 1.18 snapshot with the new terrain generation, I personally like Minecraft 1.16 more though. I mean, if GameCube does happen, it's gonna have to happen differently than the others. Otherwise, a SD Cardless Switch literally couldn't hold it.

@@tl1882 Those are both terrible options and you know it. Just look at Kingdom Hearts for why cloud gaming just doesn't work on the Switch, having to and download 1.5 GB every time you boot up a game is just slow and wasteful.

The "Wii Phone" and "DSi Phone" were a big deal on Flipnote Hatena. I've seen multiple popular flipnotes that were literally just ideas for these fake consoles. It sounds stupid now, but I swear there were some people who actually wanted these to be real.
Never saw any of those flipnotes!
Flipnote Hatena is one of the greatest peaks of nostalgia in my life. I'd love to have it back, but I'm not convinced the same magic would be there.

Let's be real, if the PS6 is a magnetic floating orb with wireless HDMI and tesla coils to power the system from the base, (Or if the base is the real PS6, and the orb is just cool looking floating LEDs, because reality is often disappointing) I'll be completely enamored by it.
I don't understand people shitting on the PS5 design, it's elegant...unlike the mini-PC tower that Microsoft shoved out.

Hey, wanna mention that one of the xboxes shown off at 1:20 (The one that's built like a computer) was real. They were early devkits that were just computers running the OS. If you look at a full size photo of one running, you can see it has a Hitachi GD-5000, the same drive that would be used in the stock console and the one that piracy groups would flash and use to dump games early on.

Funny thing is, we got n64 games and genesis games before Gameboy on nso. Nintendo does whatever they're thinking at the time and only time will tell whether it was a good decision

I do agree that Xbox's naming scheme isn't the best. Granted, the Xbox 360's name isn't bad when compared to the Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, but it still could've been better (also, I find it hilarious that people thought '360' in 'Xbox 360' referred to the console's native resolution, even though the actual native resolution of the Xbox 360 is 720p (and is capable of playing games at 1080i or 1080p))
One way Xbox could've name their consoles is naming them after Greek letters. For example, 'Xbox Alpha' for 'Xbox 360', 'Xbox Beta' for 'Xbox One', and 'Xbox Gamma' for 'Xbox Series X|S'. I think those names would've been much cooler, but it's too late now.
While I'm at it, I guess instead of 'Wii U', the Wii U could've been called 'Wii II'. There hasn't been a console that has used Roman numerals in their naming scheme since the Sega Mark III in the mid-80s (known outside of Japan as the 'Master System'). Not sure what else you would name it, to be honest.

I've taken to calling the Series line the Xbox XS(Excess, as in more than plenty)!
Just cuz it flows and makes a level of sense.
Idk why they didn't call it that.
I don't think calling the Xbox One "Xbox Beta" would've worked, since Beta means something that is in testing when it comes to software.

About the "Switch Pro" rumors I wouldn't get my hopes up. There's a great video from Whimsu about the situation but in short, it'll probably never happen. The Nvidia tegra chips being used in the switch are likely being discontinued at the end of this year. Nintendo in response decided to order 30 million more Switch units to be produced, more than they can sell in a year so more likely than not this will be their stock for the remainder of the Switch's life cycle. The only reason we got the Switch OLED was that Nintendo already had the displays and had to do something with them.

Also, yeah people haven't learned at all from rumors. It's just gone from mew under the truck to pokemon black and white coming to NSO.
Along with the many fake leak lists that feel more like wish lists.
I will never ever understand how people believed the new Nintendo Switch was gonna be in 4K. We are literally talking about a company that is known to be behind in terms of hardware but is still highly loved because of the amazing games they produce. Nintendo took over half a decade to get into the HD era of games and their hardware is always behind their competitors. And they've yet to still establish an online that is even remotely close to what you'd get from Sony and Microsoft. I mean, for crying out loud, it's 2021 and Nintendo are still yet to properly implement voice chat into their games. Why in the world would they all of a sudden bring a console that's already over 4 years old into the 4K era? Spoiler alert: They won't and likely never will until either the next system comes out or maybe even the system after that!
I personally thought it was gonna be a stable 1080p. At least a couple of Nintendo's games struggle to maintain 720p30....
On top of the fact we're talking about cramming triple-A gaming power into a 7-inch tablet.

I'd guess they might, at the most, use HDMI 2.0 and brag about having theoretical support for 4k 60 Hz output but never using it

What gets me about these renders is that the "artists" don't seem to understand basic physics and that companies haven't figured out how to build TARDISes yet.
Optical drives where discs get inserted into a pocket dimension that goes out the back of the device, buttons that have no space to depress into, no space for the motherboard, etc.

I just hope the Nintendo Switch’s successor is fully backwards compatible. Also, I don’t think the Switch Pro was grasping at straws because nintendo did released the “New” 3ds which was more powerful than the 3ds.
The Steam deck will blow the switch out of the park.

We are already getting a portable PC called the Steam Deck that's pretty powerful so I'm guessing it would happen soon in like 2 years

4:34 Nintendo did technically do that, when they released the Wii Mini, which basically a whole Wii bundled with Mario Kart Wii, a controller, and a nunchuck, but for just the price of Mario Kart Wii, and controller, and a nunchuck. You got the Wii for basically free, and it was just basically just a small cheap Wii, with some features removed such as wifi, gamecube backwards compatibility, and a few other things. Yes, I know it wasn’t “Wii 2” (or a Wii successor) but I still thought it was worth mentioning

Microsoft seriously considered Xbox 720 at one point, the robot boxing movie, Real Steel even uses it as an advert in the arena at the end of the movie.

2020 delayed the Switch Pro to probably 2023:
- Crazy uptick in demand for Switch and Switch Lite consoles
- component shortages
Nintendo had no reason to release a major overhaul, when they could release an update with the available components while their older hardware is still selling out.

Who went out of their way with their 2009 3D software skills to make a fake console render?
It's fun and useful to practice. A lot of these hoax makers who use advanced software to create the visuals for their concepts are actually freelance professionals, or practicing to start working in the field.
Also, sometimes it's not even intentionally a hoax, just a personal concept someone made, that someone else took and turned into an internet hoax.

1:21 Remember when Sony fucking trolled MS and the rest of us thinking it was going to release a system with only 4GB of RAM and it was thought that the original X1 would be the more powerful console of that gen (which would be sad) then they pool the rug under MS and said it was going to have 8GB GDDR5 RAM while MS only had the 8GB DDR3 lol.
