    Thank you for sharing! It's beautiful! I've never heard of it before. Yosemite is such a beautiful place. I was there last summer for the first time and it will not be my last. I t was heaven for me. I have no wishes to live in California, but hidden away in the high Sierras, it's a whole other world. Yosemite literally had me welling up with its beauty seeing it for the first time. Thank you again for sharing!

    You made me LOL when you commented about your keys. I can’t count the number of I’ve emptied out my pack looking for my keys! I recently bought me a new pack with zippered pouches on the waist straps and that’s where both keys and wallet go now. Great vid… on my next trip to Yosemite I’m going here!

      Glad you found that amusing. I wonder why manufacturers haven't addressed this as it seems obvious. But yes, I have zippered hip belt pockets, but I use them so much I worry the keys could fall out. I wanna put them away in a place I never open until I return. I'm gonna buy some DCF and sew in my own pouch into the packs I use most often.
      Enjoy Chilualna. Gonna be a hot climb this time of year.

    03:48 later in the summer (on normal years), this "waterfall" becomes a series of potholes connected by a trickle that have outstanding swimming and diving and sunbathing. Although the falls themselves are not very impressive, the potholes with their polished granite are popular with the locals. Yes, it is slippery.

    I’ve done this trail a number of times but have never camped up there. I plan on doing Buena Vista Lake in that area this fall when the bugs won’t be so heavy. Such a beautiful and often overlooked area in the park. Plus Pioneer Village in Wawona is also such a cool stop. If you have visited the swinging bridge and Wawona swimming hole I would recommend checking that out too.

    • @archstanton_live
      @archstanton_live ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you plan on fishing on your trip to Buena Vista Lake, be sure to stop by Royal Arch Lake. Best fishing in the park. (The park is not known for good fishing as most of the park has been stocked since the 60's, and none of it has been stocked since the 90's.)

    • @wellseasonedhiker
      @wellseasonedhiker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I hike with a lot of folks that do that - bring "real food". For overnighters I do too but I've been trying to get rid of these Mary Janes dry dinners for quite a while (as you can see). They're all gone now. Truth is, I don't mind the dry foods but they do get expensive.

    Hahaha, I’ve had so many car key scares. My Kakwa has a side pocket I use for keys, cards and extra lines. Usually I have them in my versa chest pack though. That’s a great trail. Looks like you have water crossings anywhere past where you went, though

    • @wellseasonedhiker
      @wellseasonedhiker  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed - the key thing seems to haunt me. Not sure why but for sure the "key" (no pun intended) is to find a place you'll never open again until you get back. I still think the manufacturers are missing this point. Oh, and yeah, last year was "moist" to say the least.

    I always stash my keys at the trailhead. Lots of secure places. I will take a picture of the hiding place to help in locating them.

      Really??? Like where? Under a rock?

    • @samjackson3113
      @samjackson3113 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Under a rock, some sizable so no one is likely to move it. Bury it in forest litter where no one is likely to walk. (A picture is needed for this) I sometimes set it on the leaf spring behind the rear tire where it is not directly visible, you have to reach over the tire and feel for it

    We should hike together - Your experience and my ,albeit dwindling, fear of being dead in the back country because I poisoned myself, I think we'd make a good pair. When they packaged that food one went to you and the rest went to the hungry builders of the Pyramids....we're similar ages, crankiness levels check out, but most of all I just discovered off trail in the high country.
    High my name is Greg and I have a problem.
    I really do....I want to do the first section of the High Route but Im the only one I know like me, and doing it alone is sketchy for a 60 yo...maybe
    You've got great video's and adventures thanks for the effort.

    Great video! Are these the current conditions at Chilnualna falls? You went in early June of 2023? I have been trying to find a place to backpack in Yosemite that doesn’t have too much snow. This looks perfect!

    • @wellseasonedhiker
      @wellseasonedhiker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was a little over a week ago so you're good to go. Just keep in mind that stream crossings can limit where you can travel but snow free to about 7k.

    • @jonathananderson134
      @jonathananderson134 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wellseasonedhiker Okay, yeah I saw you talking about the stream crossing in the video. And I’ve seen how fast these rivers would be so I wouldn’t go in. But that place you went looks nice enough and gorgeous.

      @@jonathananderson134 It was amazing. Best of all, if you're in the Bay Area you can make it leisurely. I left my house around 8a.m, got to the Wawona Park Permit station at 12:30, was on the trail about 1:00 and in camp around 3...and that was including stopping to film. On the way home I left camp at 8:30 and was home around 3:00 the next day. Super accessible, beautiful, and snow free.

    I'm seeing your video only in 144p. It's helpful to start a video as private untli YT is done processing before setting it to public.
    Also, what's the snow level like? Would the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne be do-able in early July?

    • @wellseasonedhiker
      @wellseasonedhiker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good feedback. Thanks!!! Snow patches (small patches) start at 6600'. Coverage looks to start at about 7k but couldn't cross the stream to get there.

      Just overnight. Chilnualna Creek wasn't passable. If you go I'd recommend veering left at the junction near the upper falls if you want to hike a bit further...otherwise it ends up being a short 5 miles. Keep in mind that the snow level is about 7k so if you're going higher pack your snowshoes. No doubt the afternoon snow will be soft and frustrating if you punch through a lot .... which I'd expect. Enjoy it. It's beautiful up there!
