Getting banned on Reddit is a right of passage at this point. They are hyper sensitive assholes with the ability to ban anyone who doesn't agree with them.
For the unidentified round character, it can be an obscure logo related to something more local, or something that doesn't exist anymore. Like a business/organization that may be defunct. My mom dated a guy who was a drummer in a local band and they had a lot of logo merchandise made when the band existed and we had one of them on our old car. The band doesn't exist anymore, but the decals may still exist in some places. It could also be an OG character made by the person who owns the car, or made by someone they love. Like a grandkid made an extra cute drawing and they got it made as a car decal.
A friend has some incredibly worn hoodies made by his friend who was trying to break into hiphop/rap. Only a handful of people on the planet have these hoodies, and my friend is perhaps the only person who still wears them years later. A Google search for his (lamentably generic) band/stage name brings up tons of results, but nothing pertaining to that specific artist.
My family has a very specific coffee mug with little green guys and a bar of soap, saying "bar bugs". It is a VERY specific reference to being against using bar soap in medical care. Because bad bacteria and such can live on soap.
That TOMT moderator message is so incredibly condescending wtf?? Reddit mods let the absolute smallest power go to their head. It's so easy to say "I understand that it was an honest mistake, just make sure you stick to the rules going forward." and unban you! The fact that you reached out to them shows that nothing you did was in bad faith!
There is literally no need for the "let's see" and "not looking good for you". I bet this guy thinks he's the coolest guy ever for being like this to others.
That mod sounds UNBEARABLE. Perhaps it's a win to get banned there so you never have to smell the foulness of their replies. "Not looking good for you" is literally something a corrupt cop who tortures his prisoners would say. Gross.
TOMT and lostmedia mods are among some of the most anal-retentive bastards on the site. I get it -- these kinds of videos popularize the subs and then they have periodic influxes of huge crowds -- but it really is pathetic.
I got banned for letting someone know I had their Lost Media they were looking for. It had been up on my YT Channel for a month at the time - The Real Blair Witch. The reason I was banned? He called it “self promotion”. I own the rights to the master…
Reddit poster: A watermelon with a picture of Kirby wearing an Obama Hope T shirt but the fruit is dyed blue and there is a pink bow tied around it. Kylie: I feel like I've seen that.
I’d argue that “rare piece of media that makes you go crazy” goes back at least to 1895, with Robert William Chambers’ The King in Yellow, a short story collection named after a supposed widely-banned play referenced in several of the stories whose second act destroys people’s minds if they read it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the concept is even older, but that example sprang to mind immediately (it’s also a great book IMO).
THANK YOU I did a double take hearing that. The King in Yellow in the original stories is such an overlooked influence in the weird fiction genre these days :v
19:40 is the precise reason why i no longer use reddit, that moderators response is so rude and condescending. Also what were they even mad about? something about you deleting your own post? how does that even count as a rule? it doesnt affect anyone other than yourself, i swear these reddit mods be looking for any reason to use their power and to feel better than someone 😭 Also this was a really good video, i fw the mysterious and lost media content heavy
Yeah reddit has always been that way unfortunately, it's full of stuck up people who think intelligence is equivalent to your ability to use perfect grammar and follow the rules. I'll blame the american education system for brainwashing people into thinking that. I think a better sign of intelligence is being able to think outside of the box and not spend all your time online getting into semantic arguments, but that's just me.
It was the condescending “let see” and “not look good for you” for me. They just wanted to keep their account tidy and not have a few different posts on the same topic, and got banned for it?!
One of the rules of tomt is not deleting posts because the whole point of the subreddit is finding lost pieces of media and thus archiving the posts to help others in the future. I'm not a reddit moderator and don't even use reddit though but it's just the rules. I agree with it because I've found lots of things searching vague terms on Google and ending up on a solved tomt post in the past
the best friend song lsd by h ector is an edit/remix of a track called club by another musician named 666 vandal because the non interlude version but the remix version (that comes up first when youtube searching the song) credits them as the composer, producer and mixer. i found 666 vandals bandcamp and went through their songs and club sounded the most like the one in the post
@@getusrektus5208 yep that seems to be the song in the post! its still some sort of misattributed/stolen remix of the original track by 666 vandal though
@@soupstore I don't think it's a remix it's just not the full song imo. His friend probably just downloaded it straight from bandcamp and cut some parts.
I feel like the "cursed lost media" trope is older than the recent trend, like, the ringu tape would count as a "lost/rare piece of media that makes people go crazy/kills them" thing I think, for example.
its absolutely older. It's just an expansion of cursed item/object. Cursed media in general is an old trope, I didn't think people would think it's a new thing, especially with how old lost media and these types of stories actually are online. That kinda took me out of the video for a moment
"rare piece of media that makes everyone go crazy" has been a trope for over 100 years. lovecraft didn't invent it but he did popularize it significantly
I think it's from a foreign puppet show. There are a LOT of puppet shows and some of them can be outright creepy to American audiences. Just due to us knowing Seasame Street. So I'd think that it's from a puppet show from elsewhere. It can be hard to tell dubbed from not when you are a little kid.
honestly i think it could be the wubbulous world of dr suess. i don’t remember the scene exactly like that but there is a part where a kid is cleaning his room and there’s a trash monster that’s pretty gross and looks kinda like how is described
Just want to point out that Best Friend's favorite song IMMEDIATELY set off memories of the soundtrack to "LSD dream emulator", then you say it's titled LSD so I'm pretty sure the h ector guy remixed the game soundtrack.
(Edit: somebody found the song on soundcloud lol) I think you're onto something. I can definitely hear that too. It's probably a slowed version from the in-game soundtrack (not the album aka the one you would find on spotify). I'm scrolling through the OST playlist on youtube and can't find something that sounds exactly same yet, but I have a feeling it's in there. (It would take some time because every area in the game has like 7 soundfont variants with 5 songs each. 35 possible unique songs per level)
Thought this theory held a lot of weight so I listened through the entire OST, pretty easy feat considering each song is a repeat of the first 10-20 seconds of the track. No dice. Closest I could find is Clockwork Machines Ethnova D but it’s missing the drums and bass the snippet has. Maybe the song is in the OST and I just happened to miss it but I couldn’t find anything ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tbh I think that since the OP has mentioned dark stuff was in the edit l, the BSF might’ve been into scene n gore music, so that beat could’ve came from a song like that
@@phanta_phanta1092 "I listened through the entire OST, pretty easy feat considering each song is a repeat of the first 10-20 seconds of the track" that sounds like some fan made thing, there really isnt' an official ost (there is a remix album that was included WITH the game though, not the same tracks) and while there are looping samples in game the songs are definitely more than 20-30 second loops.
I know it came out quite a bit later than 2008, I think it was 2012, but the liminal movie sounds a lot like Toad Road to me. Very slow and surreal, centers around a guy whose girlfriend goes missing on a wooded path called toad road that is a portal to the underworld and he goes crazy because no one can find her. Very low budget but very unsettling. Just an idea
Sometimes the form of media that they reminisce or vaguely remember from childhood may have been quite obscure at the time and depending on how popular it was, there may have not been enough information about said media nowadays (plus the internet is quite huge)
Memories are also kinda shitty anyway, I watched a show called ‘Grizzly Tales For Gruesome Kids’ here in the UK and I was sure that I remembered an episode that creeped me out but when I watched it back as an adult (11-12 years later) I realised that my memory of that episode was obscured by my own fear and it actually didn’t have the one main thing that scared me as a child.
Hahah yea I’ve noticed we seem to remember one tiny scene in so much detail, seems longer than it is until you watch it and it’s just a tiny detail. that could be in other movies and it won’t help the search, especially as it may not have been that important to the movie but it left a stretched out memory, if that makes sense
i know that you said going through that list of everything available on netflix in 2008 would be really time consuming, but as a film geek and someone who has hyperfixations on both huge databases and unidentified media, i wanna search through this and see if i can find anything that resembles whatever that movie is edit: haven’t found anything resembling this film yet (closest ive gotten are the films “21 up”, “28 up”, and “35 up”, which are entries in a documentary series chronicling the lives of 14 people, some of which have similar features to whatever protagonist op was talking about, and the films are very long and generally don’t have much action to them, but most of this series doesn’t take place in any suburban area, they take place in london, and they are higher budget than whatever the film op is talking about is), but my main guess is that this is a low budget (under 1 mil) documentary that is very long, and takes place in a very liminal suburb. i doubt it’s an experimental film or anything, as i doubt a film like that would be on netflix in 2008, but i could be wrong. if anyone finds anything that i missed, please reply to this comment
these people are genuinely lucky to have gotten any helpful comments on their posts, last time I posted there the only comment was something that was DEFINITELY not what I was searching for, despite the fact I had given quite a few details, like how it was from a video game, and how I remembered the video was posted in like 2016-18
Definitely. I made a post on TOMT a couple years ago. And i explicitly mentioned in my post how what i was looking for wasn't this one specific piece of media, yet all three comments I got were suggesting it was that piece of media :/
The haunted/cursed media trope definitely predates internet horror by a long time. There's The Ring, but also there's long been stories about cursed records, cursed books, etc. Sometimes it's that the thing itself is haunted and sometimes it's that it contains some info that drives you mad.
There was even haunted video games. Polybius probably being a good example that I think predates the internet. At least the "modern internet." Also, a weird thing I'm a little saddened by is how the death of physical media also means stories of cursed media will probably be less prevalent in the future. I'm sure it'll evolve and exist in some form, but I feel like it'll be hard to pull off something like The Ring. And it's just cool to have a physical piece of media that's haunted to put in a museum or whatever.
Yoo I'm the one who shared your video in the thread! Was so wild to see my own username in your video. Was a huge fan of that video so definitely deserved the share!
If OP remembers the library, couldn't they just go to the library and maybe see if they have some kind of inventory record going back to around that time? I have no idea if that's how libraries work. I'm quite dumb. But I would assume there has to be something for it? Like looking at a list, looking it up, and matching something, anything, to a title? I know that's time consuming and all, but still. Screams hoax to me otherwise. The movie gives me Tarkovksy vibes, but he was long since dead in 2008. That also doesn't help but, found it interesting lol.
Just from my own experience I've moved away from that town many years ago and not only that before I moved away the library turned into a church and it moved across town so who knows if they even have the same inventory But it would still be worth a shot

Cigarette Burns was the first thing I thought of when you mentioned the angel creepypasta, I wouldn't be surprised if someone saw that and wrote their own slightly different version of it.
@@ТатьянаКозина-х6вyes, I believe I’ve seen that video, that’s what came to mind. A man shoots something in the woods, hears it crying, and finds an ugly humanoid creature with wings. Maybe they saw a written description of the video?
"Rare piece of media that makes everyone who experiences it go crazy" is pretty much the Tome of Knowledge Man Was Not Meant to Know trope, so yeah, it was already a thing in 2005.
11:00 - Oh, it absolutely was and it's way older than even the Internet. There have been rumours of old records driving people to suicide and stuff like that since the early 20th century and I'm sure there must be even older examples.
Bruh, the angel creepypasta sounds SO familiar. I'm almost 99% sure I read it back in the day, a very long time ago, when I was really into creepypastas.
Me too, a friend of mine used to be the "internet guy" of our class back in my school in the 2000s. He used to tell us some creepypastas, including this one, the Russian Sleep Experiment and the one where the russians kill God, among others.
@@breannathompson9094 While i'm personally not sure, as I was only into creepypastas, I think it could be a possibility with the similarities between creepypastas and SCPs
Thanks for highlighting these more obscure mysteries! It’s entertaining to learn about AND helpful to the original posters. (I’m curious about that puppet one, though a little scared to see what it might be, given how much legit disturbing puppet media exists.) Someone recently solved my own TOMT mystery, which blew me away. Turned out it was a really, REALLY obscure Disney animation that I have never seen anyone talk about ever, haha. TOMT’s a fantastic subreddit when the mods aren’t being ridiculous.
Here's a really good mystery. How does kylie boggly make such great content? I've been trying to solve it for months but haven't gotten anywhere, I just don't know how she does it.
I feel like the liminal film has to be Primer. It's an indie sci fi film from 2004 that takes place entirely in suburbia and because it was so low budget the whole thing has a washed out, empty feel. The dialogue is very technical but the delivery is often stilted and the main conceit revolves around a box that allows them to time travel short distances into the future (the 'portal' in the user's memory) I watched it on Netflix a few years ago and it definitely had that nothing-is-happening-but-everything-is-happening feel. It could be something else entirely but that's what sprung to mind for me at least.
I dont think they just stare at houses tho, except when the watch the duplicates. its mostly just dialogue. I hope it isnt primer because Primer kicks ass but the reddit post is an interesting plot.
About the last one, I think it's important to note that the release date on those auto-generated uploads aren't always correct. There's also the possibility that maybe, the song only got a "proper" release on Dec 2021, but h ector (or whoever created the song, if the song ends up not actually being theirs) had already posted it somewhere else prior to that. Also funny coincidence, but youtube had recently recommended me another song from the same album LSD (Interlude) comes from, but I ignored it because for some reason I thought it would be one of those spam AI music uploads. Now that I know this isn't the case, maybe I'll give their music a try.
2:26 So the kids show immediately reminded me of the wubbulous world of dr suess. There is an episode called The Cat in the hat cleans up his act that has a segment of a kid puppet (who is orange) in his very dirty room. There is a weird dirty laundry puppet that has a weird gooey mouth. This might not be it but it seems kinda close detail wise minus the stomach mouth.
The first one sounds striingly like Wonder Showzen, a very weird and surreal parody of children's shows, which aired on MTV in the 2000's. The description of this mystery show sounds exactly like something that would happen on that show. Also, the main character is yellow, and a good chunk of it uses puppet characters. IDK if it's true, but the description of the stomach's realism and gore is right up Wonder Showzen's alley.
The unidentified character sounded like the Mr.men drawings but when u showed the photo I believe that it’s most likely a drawing that resonated more with the car owner whether they themselves are the artist or someone else in their life. Perhaps the driver is an illustrator or some sorts but the best answer for this mystery would be for the person who sees the car all the time to reach out to the owner.
The angel one- there's a short story called "the angel" I believe, and it's about a man who finds a decrepit old man with wings on his back. He cages him, and shows him off, watching the angel get sicker and sicker until it eventually dies. That or he sets it free, but to what avail? He's found in the hen cage, his wings reminiscent of the hens themselves. It's about 4 pages long, I think. Read it in high-school as part of Canadian Academic Curriculum...
I am fairly positive that the movie they are talking about in the liminal film section is Ink (2009)! I posted on the reddit thread, so fingers crossed we have the answer there!
I feel like the Liminal Film could be “Vanishing on 7th Street” a film about an apocalypse where people disappear into thin air if they’re ever caught outside of direct light Tons of quiet empty wandering scenes
The angel creepypasta reminded me of "A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings" by Gabriel García Marquez, but it's different enough to make me doubt they're the same story
That first story just makes me think of Mr. Meaty, which wasn't around until the later 00s, but it's the only thing I can think of with puppets and pretty grotesque imagery of that sort.
The first post reminds me of this creepypasta I came across once. It was the narrator explaining that when they were 6, they got a tape where a cartoon rabbit similarly gets sick in their stomach and is shown surrounded in their bed. Since it was a lost episode creepypasta, it then ended with a gory description of the rabbit being killed by some creature. Obviously, there is a very distinct chance this is a complete coincidence, as this was a creepypasta about a 2d animation whereas the post is a real recollection of a puppet show. But given that the OP is in their late 20s, they would have been a teenager during the original popularity of creepypastas. It's entirely possible that they read the story when they were like 14 or 15, got scared by it, forgot it, and then recently mis-remembered it as something that actually happened to them (Or maybe they had a nightmare about it that they misremembered as a real thing?). Given how the whole Evil Farming Game thing happened, I wouldn't be surprised. Edit: The story is entitled "Happy Toys" if you think this is worth investigating.
Awesome video. Hope these bring enough attention that we get some new solves AND you get your bans revoked. Edit: that typo made it seem like I was calling a pack of wolves to attack the mod team over there and that’s hilarious
I just found your channel. I am really digging it! Just a thought on a good part of this: It is always, "When I was little..." ...and then all of the people commenting, trying to help and bringing up shows, ect that may have fit or had qualities, but didn't seem to be "it". I am assuming, being so young and the years removed from said incident, that they probably had a mishmash of memories in their brain all creating one single memory. I know when I have talked about things I remember as a child vs me being an adult now, talking with my mother/people who were adults at the time, it was me remembering multiple things, but my brain consolidating it all into one memory. It is pretty typical and just how the brain works, whether it had to do with fear or joy, ect. Impactful moments in close age proximity, especially at a young age...they can tend to bleed into one another (especially if there is trauma involved in their real lives..which, that is another can of worms). Our brains do not understand how things work and are taking in information like a sponge at such a young age, so...your brain, as a way of keeping its sanity if you will, kind of lumps it all together to protect itself. Next thing you know...a decade or so later, something triggers the memory and you go, "Wait. I remember when..." when in reality...you really don't. You just remember the story your brain came up with when you were impacted while developing. Psychology is real, folks, lol.
I think I read the Angel Creepypasta too. It sounds super familiar & I think I found it on the Creepypasta wiki back in about 2013? If I recall correctly the reason there was a bloody wing picture is cause the hunter cut the angels wings off(due to either general Creepypasta insanity or cause he was trying to dispose of the body I don't recall the exact reasoning just that I thought it was weird/stupid he did this) and kept the angels wings. That's when god started haunting him & driving him insane cause he turned it from an accident to a deliberate act.
A lost media that I have been searching for is a movie/tv special that I saw when I was a kid. It was on a VHS that I either owned or rented. The movie/tv special was animated in 2D. The plot was Donald Duck and possibly Micky Mouse (I am not 100% sure if he was in the film) competing in a chariot race on an island against some villain. The time period that I saw this movie/tv special would have been between 2002 to 2004.
Just wanted to say thank you for introducing me to "Cigarette Burns" holy crap that was an absolutely incredible hour, would make an amazing feature length film or series.

About the op who wants to find out his friend's favorite song. me and several of my friends who like producing music sometimes like to send songs that they have just finished writing, but after a long time, maybe a year or two, they release them, either because they are finally confident about releasing them or because they are just releasing it for fun, most bedroom musician do that.
The angel creepy pasta sounds a lot like a Bentley Little novel called The Influence in which a small town devolves into chaos after a rowdy new year's party results in a creature that's implied and I believe at some point directly claimed to be an angel getting shot out of the sky.
I've actually read that creepypasta about a hunter accidentally killing an angel. It was around 2011, in spanish, and with hand-drawn illustrations of the creepypasta on screen, if I remember properly, it was written by the uploader, who wore a 'flesh-like' mask that covered his entire face for his videos.
The last case, about the Best Friend song, might actually been solved. Since the song was uploaded under the "Topic" category, the date listed is probably the year it was uploaded there, not the actual year the song itself was released. I've seen some songs listed under "Topic" that released waaaay back then, with the ""release"" date at the description being like "2022" or something, bc it's when TH-cam uploaded it. Hope this video reaches the OP somehow, so they can finally confirm if it's really the song or not 🙏🏼. Thanks for this video and for covering actual less known mysteries ❤
Tbh I think a lot of times these “lost” media things are actually things people had nightmares about as kids. Maybe the nightmare resembled a TV show they watched, but with added nightmarish/scary elements, and that’s why so many of these cases are never solved.
I always take childhood memory-based recollections with a _huge_ chunk of salt. Memories are so malleable. I'm sorry you had such a bad mod interaction on TOMT. That's super shitty, especially with the explanation you provided. I was a mod there for a bit and it surprises me that it went from 0 to ban that quickly.
Would not surprise me if the mod team is aware of this channel and don't like their precious sub being used for content. Neglecting the fact that both her and them are just trying to help people find answers. They should be allies, but decided to have a chip on their shoulder
I wonder if the first one is misremembering and combining two different things. Because what he said sounds pretty similar to an episode (season 2 episode 1, I think) of the Cartoon Network show “Evil Con Carne”. No puppets involved though.
always enjoy your channel and the high effort that goes in to your videos!! i hope you find the blue chin guy one day. wanted to comment my own white whale since maybe someone here will remember: did anyone see a commercial from the late 2000s, live action, aired on nick at night back in the nanny/home improvement/george lopez block. a woman, presumed to be a realtor, gets out of her car, puts a sign in the yard of a house, goes to cross the street to get back in her car and gets run over. i saw it twice. probably aired around 2007.
i have a newfound respect for people who search for lost media now that I have a personal piece of lost media that I made a recreation for but I don’t know if I should upload it because I feel like it’s very unlikely to be found it takes a lot of dedication to look for this stuff
I love your video and editing style but I just wish you had longer videos, sometimes I like to play your videos to go to sleep because of your calm demeanour
the LSD interlude song is really strange? A person somehow used this song back in 2019 and someone else found the full song uploaded on TH-cam just couple of years ago? My best guess is that the op found the full song and uploaded it to TH-cam himself(?) but that’s all speculation on my part.
I think the Creepypasta about the angel is called The Hunter. He mistakes it for a deer but once he gets closer realizes it was an angel. Hope this helps
I feel like the car decal is a random drawing, maybe one the driver's child made or something? Worth noting that a lot of TH-cam-created music channels have inaccurate dates too; they get uploaded when the artist decides they are, so the song could've been reposted after getting taken down sometime before 2019
Re the first post, I reckon it might have been the Tweenies. One of the characters, Jake, has orange skin and yellow hair, and he has an episode where hes sick in bed and another where he throws up. In the sick-in-bed episode, he's wearing PJs, very colourful room, and he gets out toys and puts his feet on the bed so it does get cramped. Haven't found a weird stomach scene, but there might have been one? Or it could have been a misremembered scene? The post is locked now unfortunately otherwise id post the suggestion there 🥲
Would be funny if the puppet sounding one turned out to be something like podge and rodge. I've had one I can't find anywhere too. Everytime I post it no one responds so it's prob something common and not lost, I just don't know what it is. I think it might be a music video. 2 men sitting in a white room. One comes in and uses the other guy like a cash register. Then he becomes the cash register. Scared me to death as a kid and still don't know what it is.
"My Best Friends Favorite Song" has two likely explanations (because you definitely are correct that the song you share is in fact the one from the post) Not to be cynical but one explanation is that OP was "H ector" themself and was trying to get a viral post going for their own song. After all, the song has barely any plays anywhere. Second, and far more interesting, perhaps the best friend WAS "H ector" which would explain how they were playing the song before its "official" release... and also explains why Spotify lists the "H ector" project is defunct - because the artist has passed.
Media that makes consumers crazy is actually a VERY old trope. I think maybe even as far back as late antiquity. If Narcissus and his reflection isn't considered a stretch (as I would) it is even older than that.
I know I saw somebody else comment it, but the revolting slob segments from HBO Family's Crashbox fit the description pretty well. That show felt like a fever dream, but it was part of its charm.
TOMT mods are nuts lol. The other day I was trying to find an old book I read as a kid and could only remember one weird part of it. Made my post and went to bed thinking I could respond to comments in the morning or at some point the next day. Post got removed for not engaging with comments quick enough. Whatever. Decided I didn't care enough to fight with overly strict reddit mods. Randomly my post was un-removed with a stern warning to not delete or I would be banned. So ofc I deleted it and am now banned. It's funny because I was talking about the book and said I'd probably post it on reddit but wasn't sure I wanted to deal with the moderation since it always seems to be an issue when posting on bigger subs.

i have a feeling that the round character on the car could just be a generic character not actually from anything, but it also looks too specific to not be from something. its definitely not a character from a popular series like mario, sonic, or hello kitty, but chances are it could also be from a more obscure series, a band or even a logo the car owner personally created. to me, the sticker looks like one of those plushies where they turn a preexisting character into a ball. you can clearly make out a face on the top middle of the sticker, what i think are very stubby hands on both sides of the left and right middle of it, and cartoonish pants going all the way up to its face. since its been a few months since their last post about it though, i have a feeling they lost interest and might not even see the car again
Seeing the car decal post made me jump because I posted on TOMT a few times looking for a thing with no luck right around the same time and was hoping maybe I'd be covered, hahaha x) EDIT: not a creepypasta but there is a well known story called A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel García Márquez which has notes that OP talked about.

It could also be an OG character made by the person who owns the car, or made by someone they love. Like a grandkid made an extra cute drawing and they got it made as a car decal.
Either of these are probably pretty likely
Do you know the band's name & if they released physical copies of music?
A friend has some incredibly worn hoodies made by his friend who was trying to break into hiphop/rap. Only a handful of people on the planet have these hoodies, and my friend is perhaps the only person who still wears them years later. A Google search for his (lamentably generic) band/stage name brings up tons of results, but nothing pertaining to that specific artist.
It gives me the vibe of those small local medical offices. Like a local dentists’ office or a small chain of doctors’ offices.
I got a 4 day ban one time for not “linking correctly” it’s a weirdly strict subreddit
Watch the person with the car decal come forward and be like "idk what it is either I just thought it looked funny"
this was my initial thought too, haha.
i was thinking maybe it was the logo/mascot of a local business or something. or a small online store
is it possible if the owner or family's owner drew it and slap it on it because it's either funny or its a form of appreciation?
at this point I woudl go to the owner and asked :D
I live in a tourist town. On the off chance I get the chance. I'll try to remember to ask. I like weird bumper stickers/decals.
Yeah, ditto everything you said.
THANK YOU I did a double take hearing that. The King in Yellow in the original stories is such an overlooked influence in the weird fiction genre these days :v
True! Infinite Jest somewhat has a similar theme as well
Came here to reference the same thing.
the "hanged king" SCP is a great version of this if you haven't read it. directly inspired by the king in yellow
19:40 is the precise reason why i no longer use reddit, that moderators response is so rude and condescending. Also what were they even mad about? something about you deleting your own post? how does that even count as a rule? it doesnt affect anyone other than yourself, i swear these reddit mods be looking for any reason to use their power and to feel better than someone 😭
Also this was a really good video, i fw the mysterious and lost media content heavy
YOOO I THINK THIS IS THE ONE. IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE IT.

it's actually ©∂n µøu †π∂v€¬ ∂¬øn€ (k¬øs† hidden pt.II & damaged mix) but damn it was kinda hidden xD
@@getusrektus5208 yep that seems to be the song in the post! its still some sort of misattributed/stolen remix of the original track by 666 vandal though

I feel like the "cursed lost media" trope is older than the recent trend, like, the ringu tape would count as a "lost/rare piece of media that makes people go crazy/kills them" thing I think, for example.
Yeah its definitely not recent its just overdone in recent years
its absolutely older. It's just an expansion of cursed item/object. Cursed media in general is an old trope, I didn't think people would think it's a new thing, especially with how old lost media and these types of stories actually are online. That kinda took me out of the video for a moment
Yeah much older. The King In Yellow by Robert W Chambers from 1895 is probably the most influential example.
@@Jacob-Sophia king in yellow is a classic example~
it's overused, choppy and unoriginal
"rare piece of media that makes everyone go crazy" has been a trope for over 100 years. lovecraft didn't invent it but he did popularize it significantly
Honestly, the disturbing puppet one sounds like it's straight outta DHMIS
I think it's from a foreign puppet show. There are a LOT of puppet shows and some of them can be outright creepy to American audiences. Just due to us knowing Seasame Street. So I'd think that it's from a puppet show from elsewhere. It can be hard to tell dubbed from not when you are a little kid.

Lost media videos are oddly comforting even though they have a scary undertone

It reminded me of BoTD-type music. Could be one of their songs slowed down.
Just an idea
its so bizzare to me when people remember something in so much detail but they cant find it anywhere
@@Ashagagal Exactly this. Memory is very malleable...
theres a song that i can "remember" lyrics from as a kid that i have never been able to find and i dont even know if its real anymore
Hahah yea I’ve noticed we seem to remember one tiny scene in so much detail, seems longer than it is until you watch it and it’s just a tiny detail. that could be in other movies and it won’t help the search, especially as it may not have been that important to the movie but it left a stretched out memory, if that makes sense
i know that you said going through that list of everything available on netflix in 2008 would be really time consuming, but as a film geek and someone who has hyperfixations on both huge databases and unidentified media, i wanna search through this and see if i can find anything that resembles whatever that movie is
edit: haven’t found anything resembling this film yet (closest ive gotten are the films “21 up”, “28 up”, and “35 up”, which are entries in a documentary series chronicling the lives of 14 people, some of which have similar features to whatever protagonist op was talking about, and the films are very long and generally don’t have much action to them, but most of this series doesn’t take place in any suburban area, they take place in london, and they are higher budget than whatever the film op is talking about is), but my main guess is that this is a low budget (under 1 mil) documentary that is very long, and takes place in a very liminal suburb. i doubt it’s an experimental film or anything, as i doubt a film like that would be on netflix in 2008, but i could be wrong. if anyone finds anything that i missed, please reply to this comment
Plus it’s easy enough to cut tv shows, known movies, and previous guesses out of the list
I'm sure it would be easy to eliminate at least half that list. With enough people and determination, I'm sure we can find the movie.
I'd be super keen to get involved in this too
these people are genuinely lucky to have gotten any helpful comments on their posts, last time I posted there the only comment was something that was DEFINITELY not what I was searching for, despite the fact I had given quite a few details, like how it was from a video game, and how I remembered the video was posted in like 2016-18
What other details have you got? Maybe this comments section can help.
@@ChrisDaPancreas I'm down for having an alternative to TOMT led by Kylie lol
Then there's The Game.
I bet the idea of "a book that drives you insane with it's contents" was a thing even
Hell, The Monkey's Paw is basically that storyline.

Just from my own experience I've moved away from that town many years ago and not only that before I moved away the library turned into a church and it moved across town so who knows if they even have the same inventory
But it would still be worth a shot
I doubt the library would keep borrow records for that long, but who knows

The 1895 short story The King in Yellow had a book that drove the readers insane.

I swear i remember, is it possibly an scp?
I also remember it...but maybe in Portuguese

I'm not sure if is it, but the angel creepypasta remind me of a short story by Gabriel García Marquéz called "a very old man with enormous wings".
Thanks for highlighting these more obscure mysteries! It’s entertaining to learn about AND helpful to the original posters. (I’m curious about that puppet one, though a little scared to see what it might be, given how much legit disturbing puppet media exists.)
Someone recently solved my own TOMT mystery, which blew me away.
The dialogue is very technical but the delivery is often stilted and the main conceit revolves around a box that allows them to time travel short distances into the future (the 'portal' in the user's memory)
I watched it on Netflix a few years ago and it definitely had that nothing-is-happening-but-everything-is-happening feel.
It could be something else entirely but that's what sprung to mind for me at least.
I dont think they just stare at houses tho, except when the watch the duplicates. its mostly just dialogue. I hope it isnt primer because Primer kicks ass but the reddit post is an interesting plot.
I feel like it’s primer also it was my first thought too
"Lost piece of media that makes you go insane" goes back to at least 1895 with the publication of The King in Yellow
I would be surprised if it went back further. Who’s to say there wasn’t an Ancient Greek myth about something like that which we no longer have.
The liminal film reminds me of the episode of the Twilight Zone about Maple Street
We love any day that Kylie uploads
Ive been following you for a few months now and i gotta say, each of your upload gets better and better! keep up the good work
The first one sounds striingly like Wonder Showzen, a very weird and surreal parody of children's shows, which aired on MTV in the 2000's.
Aside from the stomach opening up part, the first story sounds like a dead ringer for the Revolting Slob from Crashbox
Doesnt look anything like it
The angel one- there's a short story called "the angel" I believe, and it's about a man who finds a decrepit old man with wings on his back.
FINALLY SOME LOST MEDIA VIDEOS TO WATCH
I am fairly positive that the movie they are talking about in the liminal film section is Ink (2009)! I posted on the reddit thread, so fingers crossed we have the answer there!
I feel like the Liminal Film could be “Vanishing on 7th Street” a film about an apocalypse where people disappear into thin air if they’re ever caught outside of direct light
Tons of quiet empty wandering scenes
Timeline doesn't seem to matchup, and the scenery doesn't quite seem right either
The angel creepypasta feels so damn familiar to me, I feel like I read one with that exact same synopsis around the early 2010s
perfect timing I was just binge watching your videos lmao
Great vid, so happy your channel got recommended to me!
I don't remember the name though so I'm no help & might just be spreading more confusion or misinformation.

My favorite TH-camr returns!
The angel creepy pasta sounds a lot like a Bentley Little novel called The Influence in which a small town devolves into chaos after a rowdy new year's party results in a creature that's implied and I believe at some point directly claimed to be an angel getting shot out of the sky.
The “cursed object/media” trope is pretty prevalent in urban legends too (like Gloomy Sunday for example)
youtube music always updates stuff rapidly. i also think that the song's upload date could possibly have just been a rerelease
Those dollhouse human puppets from the Big Comfy Couch terrified me. Even now watching it back it give me an unsettling almost demonic feeling lol

They found The Backrooms, you should upload it.
@@edmardisla8492
I made an update on my personal search and did upload it
I really doubt it can be found knowing what I do now
I love your video and editing style but I just wish you had longer videos, sometimes I like to play your videos to go to sleep because of your calm demeanour
the LSD interlude song is really strange? A person somehow used this song back in 2019 and someone else found the full song uploaded on TH-cam just couple of years ago?
My best guess is that the op found the full song and uploaded it to TH-cam himself(?) but that’s all speculation on my part.
The mods on TOMT are awful. I got banned because I “didn’t interact enough” on a post, no other problem
"My Best Friends Favorite Song" has two likely explanations (because you definitely are correct that the song you share is in fact the one from the post)
Not to be cynical but one explanation is that OP was "H ector" themself and was trying to get a viral post going for their own song. After all, the song has barely any plays anywhere.
Second, and far more interesting, perhaps the best friend WAS "H ector" which would explain how they were playing the song before its "official" release... and also explains why Spotify lists the "H ector" project is defunct - because the artist has passed.
Hopefully that Liminal Movie gets found, it sounds interesting
Along with that unidentified song
Media that makes consumers crazy is actually a VERY old trope. I think maybe even as far back as late antiquity. If Narcissus and his reflection isn't considered a stretch (as I would) it is even older than that.
TRAUMA CENTER BGM THAT ISN'T GENTLE BREEZE LETS FUCKING GOOOOO!!!
I know I saw somebody else comment it, but the revolting slob segments from HBO Family's Crashbox fit the description pretty well. That show felt like a fever dream, but it was part of its charm.
Great slices of lost media, also was not expecting to see our boy SCP-048 "Joey" again 😭
Also if anyone read a book as a kid with instructions on how to make a shrunken head let me know 🙏
@@xduwu4257a real shrunken head, or an apple carved to look like one? I think I read an old book on making Halloween decorations at home that had instructions for that
@@xduwu4257ok I thought I replied to this already so excuse me if this sends twice - I don't remember the exact book but did the instructions say to use an apple?
The Liminal Space movie, sounds like the creepypasta“My Dad Left His Video Collection.” I remember watching a video recreation on TH-cam and reminds me a lot of what OP is referring to. Unfortunately, I can’t find the video to compare the two but maybe if the story matches it’ll get us closer to finding it
yes!! i remember this as well
Whenever Kylie uploads- it’s a good day! Let’s learn about some mysteries!
Edit: just finished the video- great as always!
There’s always the chance that the decal is original artwork by the driver or someone they know
also the vhs tape one sounds SO familiar me and the op are a few years off in age so i thought i was just thinking of like the revolting slob or something LOL but the icky stomach with guts inside unlocked some crazy ass memory
i have a feeling that the round character on the car could just be a generic character not actually from anything, but it also looks too specific to not be from something. its definitely not a character from a popular series like mario, sonic, or hello kitty, but chances are it could also be from a more obscure series, a band or even a logo the car owner personally created. to me, the sticker looks like one of those plushies where they turn a preexisting character into a ball. you can clearly make out a face on the top middle of the sticker, what i think are very stubby hands on both sides of the left and right middle of it, and cartoonish pants going all the way up to its face. since its been a few months since their last post about it though, i have a feeling they lost interest and might not even see the car again
I believe the movie the OP was looking for May have been Big Fish
I think the "rare piece of media causes viewers to go crazy" genre has been around at least since Infinite Jest in 1996
FAVORITE TH-camR UPLOADED
Why is nobody talking about that h ector guy I mean “the ‘h ector’ project is now defunct.” Is so ominous and the music is actually kinda dope
Seeing the car decal post made me jump because I posted on TOMT a few times looking for a thing with no luck right around the same time and was hoping maybe I'd be covered, hahaha x)
EDIT: not a creepypasta but there is a well known story called A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel García Márquez which has notes that OP talked about.
Love your content, just now discovered you(let's just say Panchiko), totally binging your videos now, THANKS!
@@QUEEFSWEAT thank you!! :)
@@sombertoboggly yeah I'm totally listening to your stuff right now, you have a great voice and content that's all new to me. I'd love to know if you ever do a live stream too. Boom.
The Disturbing Children's VHS sounds like an episode of Wonder Showzen. Maybe Season 1 Episode 7: Health.
