I've seen that Mama Luigi YTP before! but it was on a YTP News episode. This video brought back memories and I immediately went searching, and I FOUND IT! Part of it anyway, it was in an episode that talked about genres of YTP and that one was used as an example of bad "Spadinner" YTPs (referring to commonly used sources such as CDI, Mario cartoons, etc) I went to the thread and shared it and the original poster was so happy! I've been a long time fan of lost media, and being able to help in a search, at least a little, is great.

It's honestly so refreshing to see people talking about things like lost media/liminal spaces/etc. without the pretense that these things are inherently "horrifying" or related to horror. Like they can be, but they're just so much more than that I think.
Idk maybe I'm just sick of seeing videos on these topics that use the same four tracks from the silent hill 2 ost lol

I remember a website from the late 90s called "The Finger of Insanity." It was just an image of a finger and a sound file you could download (in .au format, which I haven't seen in ages) that consisted of a woman screaming and an echoing man's voice saying "THE FINGER OF INSANITY (insanity, insanity, insanity...)" I've never met another person who remembers it and for a while I was starting to think I'd dreamed it, until I found a backup drive on which I'd downloaded the .au file back in the day!

The DK TV graphic saying "The DK Gorilla Project" is almost definitely fake. The logo used is the logo for a band called the Dead Kennedys and it's definitely trademarked. Considering how litigious Nintendo is I can't imagine them making a mistake like that.
I had to go back and watch that again because all I could think was "There's lost media related to the Dead Kennedys??"
Funny enough the dead kennedys actually do have lost media. Their song pull my strings was an audio from a performance they did in some show in 1980 and that is also why we have the picture of them wearing the dollar sign suit. But to save you time, the actual video of the performance is lost and there is some speculation that it was filmed due to some people pointing out that some other performances were filmed. So yeah.

funny thing is there is actually is lost media with the dead kennedys, its actually the song "pull my strings", supposedly there is video footage of the whole performance as it was in some show on local tv or something. it actually makes me sad that the only thing that is found about it is the pic of the band with the dollar sign suits

TH-cam lost media reminds me of all the amvs I would watch as a kid but have now either been deleted or made private. The amvs may be seen as cringy now but I appreciate them for introducing me to different kinds of music
this is so real, there was a sonic x(i think?) knuckles x rouge amv to if we were a movie i saw as a little kid and its lived in my head rent free for years, and i never even cared for the ship

I remember playing Gushers Redo Your Room as a kid, so I guess I can provide the info that I remember about that game.
First, the hallway. You mentioned that it's presumed that you could see other characters in the hallway, but I can't recall any character appearing. I *do* recall what the hallway looked like though. It was a direct view down the hallway with 3 or 4 rooms on the left and right side, and a single door at the end. The rooms were numbered, so you'd be able to find your room or your friend's room easier. The laughter that would play is probably just meant to be some kind of ambiance to make it seem like there were people inside those rooms having fun. It was a lot less creepy back then, trust me.
As for the blue goo, I have horrible memories of this. I always remembered it as being water, but it being goo does make sense to me. If somebody hated you enough, this was basically a way to permanently destroy their room. They could add an unlimited number of blue goo to someone's room, and when the owner of the room came back, they'd be hit with a barrage of blue goo immediately. The reason this would destroy rooms is because there was quite literally no limit to how much someone could add, so if too much was added, it would throw an unreasonable amount of blue goo at the owner's screen, and because computers weren't quite as powerful back then, it would often cause the game to lag severely, or just straight up crash. As for what the blue goo looked like, it was just a cartoonish blue splatter that would show up on a random location on the owner's screen.
Wish I could find a like 2003-2006 animation of a kangaroo and a ostrich hanging out. Until Jesus gets summoned by the ostrich saying "I'll smack you with a trout. A trout named Jesus! Behold!" "Holy Jesus, it's crap!" "Here, Jesus! Have a dollar!" "Whee!"
That sounds extremely familiar but at the same time over 90% of flash animations around that time were that style of humor.

@@stuco211 It's so vivid in my mind, but I think the site I watched it on has shut down long ago. And it was a site of links, anyway, so whatever it led to can't show flash animation. I think the characters had names, too. Roy and Ozzie? Something like that. I think there were 2 or 3 of them in all, maybe even 5.

Thinking a bunch back on this and other people who were making like weirdly grim ytps back in the day. Does anyone remember SantaWithTeeth? There were tons of users associated with his bubble that would tend to make SpongeBob ytps with a bit more of a visceral feeling than other channels did at the time. It’s like they still do the obvious stuff of making the characters swear and shit but there was like a very intense editing style they used. I remember feeling like anything might come up on my screen at any time. I feel like the accounts surrounding it tended to shoot for a mildly darker sense of humor than the mainstream (given this is TH-cam in like 2008) of ytps. Not sure how, but I just remember needing to keep the volume down on those videos especially when I was younger. I remember going and rewatching parts quietly from my speakers trying to hear without anyone else being able to. No idea why I didn’t try to use headphones
@@Arceus5555 A lot of SantaWithTeeth's videos are still out there, if you look up his name. He seems to have been the first to call Spongebob "Spingebill", which a lot of Spongebob YTPs go by now.

@@Arceus5555 I remember SantaWithTeeth was fixated on the creepy/“morbid” versions of SpongeBob characters, often from the overly detailed closeups like “does this look unsure to you” Squidward (or “Skodwarde”). In fact I think he started “Moar Krabs” as a meme.

There was a thread posted a long time ago on the LMW forum about an almost completely lost The Dog: Artlist Collection (those dog photos that are photographed to look like they have giant heads) online flash pet simulator game. It was a collaboration with Scholastic Books. The only evidence left was an un-loadable game screen, an announcement page of it closing, and a photo taken of an advertisement in a scholastic paper. I have no idea if they found anything more but it's always intrigued me. How can something that's a collaboration between two pretty big brands just not have any photos of gameplay of it online? It's not like it was from the 90s. IIRC it was from the late 2000s or 2010s.
i saw that post and was the one who posted the ad on the scholastic book!!! i really wish it was found too because as a kid i really wanted to play it... but alas by the time i tried going onto the site it was gone
i believe i played that using a toy from a book order! my memories are very hazy though. it would have been in the time frame you say. i know for sure that i played something similar, at least.

The 2000s are peak nostalgic internet, so many weird and fun things.
The first video reminded me of another now lost video. It was a fan animation of the Weird Al song “constipated.” In the song, the singer and the wife found out they are related via a matching birthmark. In the video, this birthmark was the swastika. There was even an annotation (shout out to the OGs who remembers those) that said if people in the comments didn’t stop complaining, he would delete the video.

Omg I used to spend hours on Tamatown back in the day with my v3 Tamagotchi. I remember trying to access the website again a while back only to find out it had shut down. I had no idea some people have been trying to rebuild it. I think that's great.
Some lost media has been blocked by big music companies, like old music videos which have been remastered, but they aren't the original videos, like Anastasia's Pieces Of Dream, which is on the way back machine, but all the links are copyright claimed by SONY, and the remastered video is completely different.
And Clint Eastwood from Gorillaz! The original is so much better than the redesign. I had it burned on a CD-R, but the CD died to bit rot...

Internet lost media is so weird and interesting. I’ve seen fanfics/fanarts (especially ones made in the 2000s) randomly disappear without a trace yet the internet doesn’t preserve everything. Also seeing lost fanfics just make me feel sad
Also that Mama Luigi ytp snippet gave me the biggest flashbacks of all time because I remember seeing the thumbnail all of the time back then and it scared me lmao

For me, there was this song, called Dark City, that was some kind of atmospheric synth track, and I used to listen to it all the time, back in 2011-2012.
Unfortunately, it's gone now, and there's so many songs called Dark City, it's been impossible to find.

oh my gosh I had NO idea people had recovered any of the Tamatown music! hearing it again literally made me cry. the servers being shut down made 0 sense, as they kept making new Tamagotchis, they even re-released the originals to make more money seeing the nostalgia boom, but never bothered to use some of that revenue to bring the site back. People who didn't play on the site don't even get it, your v3 and up feels useless without it once you got into it. It felt so immersive and comforting like a Tamagotchi slice of life, I was so addicted

There is a Confucius animation video and song that I’ve been looking for that I can’t find. It said stuff like “confucius says feed your panda twice on Tuesday” and either “hit” or “don’t hit your sister”. It was like 2013 and earlier but I can’t find it and the only proof of its existence is someone else made a r/tipofmytongue post about it
the mama luigi entry reminded me of a creepy video i remember being scared by that i don’t know still exists.
it was a playthrough of the third legend of spyro game my memory on a lot of it is fuzzy except for the fact the people in it where a man and a woman and they laugh excessively and constantly peaked their microphones. this culminated in randomly in the middle of the video a loud scream happened with the image of the girl from the exorcist that’s as used in the scary maze game. i have no clue where this video is and i don’t know how to search it considering i remember it not being a major part of the video and was just like a joke in it.

I always assumed the falling prices for storage would mean that the older, smaller content would end up being saved because it would be easy to keep all the older stuff alongside the newer higher definition stuff.
nope! Turns out for various reasons stuff will vanish. Newer video often has BETTER compression. People store stuff offline and the storage or the person dies with age. People just lose interest. People assume someone else has it and don't keep it. (Kitty Genovese effect- everybody thinks somebody else is doing it so nobody does anything)
It’s nice seeing Tamatown in one of these lists! It’s definitely a bit obscure compared to a lot of internet lost media. There’s been some efforts to recover parts of the site, and just a few months ago I managed to recover a small handful of new files from an old laptop - I’m quite hopeful that the rest of the website will be recovered over time.
I actually posted something on the lost media wiki forums about a lost Chowder YTP based on the episode Banned from the Stand which is made with Windows movie maker, all I remember from it was Mung Daal saying Suprise me man, surprise me but was edited to make it sounds like he's stuttering and Chowder not wearing pants and it paused for a few seconds with the windows movie maker rainbow filter flashing as a joke! Don't remember who made it, and the last time I saw it was in 2011

oh wow, the first entry just unlocked a deeply locked away memory for me. late 2000s-early 2010s was definitely the time I was on youtube a lot as a kid and I watched a lot of ytp, and hearing the details about the video made it all come flowing back, I definitely watched that video at some point when I was a kid before it was deleted

I remember the old Prankster Planet game on PBS. I’ve heard that it’s supposedly completely lost, and the only lead I’ve heard is that supposedly someone’s aunt used to work up at PBS and might have been able to she if she could find anything. But that lead went cold. I used to play that game all the time, but never finished it. I wanna know what the end was.
Ik I'm extremely late (especially seeing how i first watched this video 2 days after it came out), but i just wanted to say that this was a great video and to please keep it up. (I also just ordered the audio manta sleep thing, with your code, and i can't wait. I love listwning to asmr and stuff while i sleep so it's going to save me money replacing headphones that i would normally use for my asmr shenanigans lol)

Speaking of which, on the topic of ytps, I actually have an actually disturbing Spongebob one. Can't remember the name, the channel, or if it's even actually lost (concerning subject matter probably is) but it featured actual gore. It was the Shoelace episode, and the scene where Spongebob is watching the Anemone was replaced with an uncensored video of Bud Dwyers suicide footage on the TV. It was my first and only exposure to real gore so it genuinely disturbed me for awhile. God the old youtube was a fucking lawless

This made a me think of a lost ad i found, not a vid, an ad. A very fever dream like one, i dont remeber majority of it, but i remember some of it, the room in the ad from what i remember had navy blue walls, brown wood floors, it was a small room, the ad looked kind of like a skit but i didnt know cause even if the ad wasnt scary it was so fever dream like it made me uncomfy and so i skipped it without seeing the rest, anyway onto the more related part, someone was moving around a figure with thier hand while a txs voice talked, and also this figure wasnt normal, it had a normal head of a adult man figure but..his body was a small figure toy chair. I dont remember what he said in that txs voice but what i remembered was he said along the lines of "i wish i could be less/more like (i forgot)" thats all i remember, the text in the brackets arent apart of it, i forgot the rest of it. Then after he said that a small toy figure baby, almost a teeny bit like those small baby figures you would see in cakes or whatever, and it "acended" down from a string, talking to the man, i dont remember all the baby said but i think it had a typical child/high pitch voice that was echoy, to maybe go along with the baby being magical or something. Thats all i remember but if i had remembered more i would had said so, i really want to find the ad again but i dont think any of this info would be of any use.

i must be going crazy, but i vividly remember watching this weird 3d cartoon youtube series during around 2011-2013. it was poorly animated on a 3d maker. it was named after this kid named gabriel(?), it started with a g. he's portrayed to have a very mischievous personality, similar to david from the "no david, no" series. but i SPECIFICALLY remember this video, with this same character and a girl with glasses creating a lemonade stand, and it quickly escalates to them having a war over their lemonade stands, seeing who's is better, and it shows them running into oncoming traffic or something like that. if anybody knows what i am talking about, PLEASE reply to this comment. it was very weird...

There were a lot of ship videos back when I first started using TH-cam in 2008. Mostly Titanic themed either done with Legos or picture slideshow tributes. But since then some of these still exist either on the original channel or re-uploads by archives or the person who made them. While the rest are now lost.
Like how there are tons of YTPs that will never see the light of day again, I feel screamers have the fame fate :( I was tormented with lots of screamers back in the day from my cousin, but some are still lost for me. Lost media is such an interesting topic but also so frustrating too haha. I hope these videos and games can be found again waaa
this video reminded of a game online i used to play called "mundo pocoyo" (pocoyo's world), which was based on a cartoon series famous here in LATAM by the same name (im not so sure if its famous outside of here so i wont confirm it). the only things i found of the game were uploaded on the game's youtube and facebook page, which were just some screenshots from the game and a 20 second gameplay showing the stores ingame to buy pets and outfits. dont think i'll ever see that game again lol

Does anyone remember the plush video of Yoshi the babysitter? :( He babysits baby Mario and Luigi while the adult versions go to violin lessons. Yoshi plays Minecraft with them and they eat lolipops. I’ve done some research and think I found the original creator but he just doesn’t respond to me.
I remember seeing a short edit/ytp on TH-cam around 2013 about regular show, the episode that Was used for this edit was "just set up the chairs" more specifically the part where they are playing on an arcade room, the scene where Mordecai stand on his tip toes the episode would be edited on that part so when Mordecai does that he would lay an egg, after this part I don't remember what came off that egg, I remember the video being short and the tittle being something like "Mordecai lays an egg". I tried to search for that video but I didn't have any success
Just started watching this, and I remember the Mario World YTP from when I was a kid. I don’t think I ever watched it, but I remember seeing the thumbnail, and it was of Yoshi but all bloody, just like how the user described. Never knew it was lost media. I remember it scaring me as a kid, but now as an adult the video sounds hilarious.

Did anyone else ever see that "British Spongebob" video series on TH-cam? I stumbled upon British Spongebob in 2007/08. It just sounded like two British teen boys overdubbing Spongebob episodes, such as Sailor Mouth, the Campfire episode, and the one with Spongebob's Grandma. Basically it was just very British overdubbed Spongebob that would mix in Britpop and metal music. The series actually introduced me to the band The La's, along with some of Blur's earlier music! Really wish I could rewatch. 💜
